Probably my favourite Ozzy song. All that bass and crunchy riff.
every time i see mike playing that bass i’m like “my man was playing with the best to ever do it” then went on to be in the best 90s band ever. insane man we love mike
Zakk has stayed really cool over the years, but to a teenage aspiring guitarist, this Zakk, with the Les Paul's and the unreal bell bottoms, was just the coolest thing around...
One of the greatest rock solos in history.
Yes I believe it is about a serial killer. The song came about when Mike Inez auditioned for Ozzy and started playing that bass riff in the intro. This was also Ozzy's first album "sober" and I remember when this video premiered I remember thinking Wow Ozzy is in really great shape here. And yes, "It's just a hand in the Bush"..
Definitrly take a moment in your personal time to hear the album version, in place of the music video version.
The crescendo in the middle builds up so much better when its not cut to pieaces.
Probably a good note for future Ozzy reactions.
The videos are cut up radio edits.
His concert was the best I ever went to around '95
The song is driven by the bass and as a bass player this makes me happy 😎
One of my favorite Zakk Wylde solos. Great song!
I was in tenth grade when this album came out and this is the song that got me into Ozzy. This is the song that got me to go back and check out all of Black Sabbath’s collection as well as his earlier solo work. I’ve been a huge fan ever since!
I'm in tenth grade right now and listening to this masterpiece
Thanks for your reaction. Love Ozzy Osbourne. Love Zakk Wylde. And I still love this song so much.
Many thanks for the shout-out, Ken! I always enjoy your reactions. I think Ozzy does a great job of storytelling on this song and stays in the pocket for a creepy, languorous reading. The band's on-point as well. That first Ozzy entrance is so clean and it really sets the tone for the rest of the performance. An underrated masterpiece in my book.
My favorite Ozzie song, and video. Plus the yards of hair.
Hun, I'm already subscribed but hearing you exclaim, "Agh! Son of a nutcracker! That is a devastating guitar solo! Zack Wylde: every inch the rock guitar God right there!" makes me want to subscribe a hundred more times lol.. Thank you for this reaction; I thoroughly enjoyed it.
This song is amazing
You’re right about the song being about a psychopath/ serial killer. When I saw him sing this song live back in 1997, there was a comic styled slide show playing on the stage backdrop and the comic strips playing depicted a man stalking a woman then holding her captive. Great show!! I witnessed this in San Antonio, TX of all places. 🙌🏼
The guitar is actually half step down (á la Stevie Ray Vaughan) but also drop D so its "Db Ab Db Gb Bb Eb" with scooped EQ Boss Super OD and a chorus pedal maybe a flanger and Mashall 1959 SLP... Oh and EMG activated pickups...
That 'quote' that you missed, was a mish mash of proverbial sayings. 'He who laughs last' from 'He who laughs last, laughs loudest'. And, 'just a hand in the bush' from 'a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush'.
The girl in the end is his daughter Kelly. Love this song so much ❤️❤️🎶
we would party to this and sing....no more beers....lol
Lot of luscious hair flying around in this video
"it's just a hand in the bush" is short for "A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush",
Definition says It's better to stick with what you have than risk it for something greater.
Not sure what it means for this song though.
The line Ozzy says is "It's just a sign of the times, going forwards in reverse.. still, he who laughs last is just a hand in the bush"....Not sure what it means for the song.... or the world.
Love that you did this one !
I’d love to see you react to Chris Stapleton doing the star spangled banner at the recent super bowl, it was killer 🤘🏼
Thank you for appreciating Ozzie in the classics.
Always get a positive response from any male metal fan. How could you not?
This was the shortened version the quote at the break in the song was supposed to be
“It's just a sign of the times
Going forward in reverse
Still, he who laughs last
It's just a hand in the bush”
But this version cut out the sign of the times going forward in reverse part
How has this video only got 5k views? Criminal!
❤
The great thing about the song is the bass! Listen to the bass!!!
"Boromir of the Ballad"..hahaha❤😊
I've always thought this was about Jack The Ripper.
Beardless Zakk was a special time
Here is a great one from Ozzy on the follow-up album to Diary of a Madman, Waiting For Darkness.

My favorite part of the video is when you see zak on the guitar he is so sexy
my favourite Ozzy song but this is the cut version half the solo is missing
You are correct. Serial killer for a thousand.
4:08 that position always reminded me of Bob in Twin Peaks 💀
No, this is not a Layla moment. This is a Zakk Wylde moment.
The song is about a modern day Jack the Ripper.
this song is about a stalker who torments women in a red-light district and kills them. They are saying "hand in the bush" and they say it several times. When the find your body, they'll see a "hand in the bush".
This song should of been titled "zakk wylde ft. Ozzy osbourne"
#1 Rule after pausing is going back at least 5 seconds. Other than that 👍
Thats ozzys daughter Aimee at the end of the video.
No, it's Kelly .
I think Oz is talking about himself here. He is lamenting he has "No More Tears" because he can't friggin' BLINK!!! That'll dry your eyes out real quick. ))
No one really fully addressed the criminal editing of one of the greatest guitar solos ever. That and the intro to it were clumsily edited. Imagine "Layla"'s guitar part, but with a third of it gone. They should have drowned the record company people responsible for this travesty. I HIGHLY recommend you watch the complete version & see what I mean.
This ranks as one of my proudest "Guitar Hero" moments whenever I could play that solo and hit 100%! It is a blast to play.
I believe the female is not an actress but is his daughter Amy
The girl in the end is Kelly. The other is not Aimee, and she is too old to be her .
I’d love to hear you react to some Of Bruce Dickinson’s solo stuff. Theres a live version of ‘tears of the dragon’ (the Bruce and tribuzy one specifically) that’s just dying to be watched by a vocal coach.

Zak, Jesus Christ.😍😛
Never react to a song by watching the video for that song. They cut the song short
Ozzy's Diary of a Mad Man is SO much better than this.
Now can someone just tell me what the hell he's singing about?
Zakk Wylde
Sorry but I just can't listen to this song on its lame edit version
Music videos I always skip because they’re usually heavily edited and take away from the music
In 13 minutes of video you literally only spoke about singing once (the "smile" thing). How is this a "vocal coach" reaction? It could have been made by anyone, you brought nothing to the table, the only advice you gave is to book a vocal coach, which is fair enough, but yo wasted my time. I beat no grudges but this had to be said, hope your other viewers enjoyed regardless.
