- my first try on porting the new fuel injected MS500i. I'm sure there's is even more power left in the saw. Looking foward to see how the saw will evolve in the next months in terms of porting and what other saw builders will get out of it over time ;)

I’m sure Dechsi will do a comparison of both saws ported for us soon.

Check out "Tinman's saws" on youtube, he has a series of episodes where he explains all the details you need to know to successfully port a saw.
More pressure it went slower meaning the porting job focused the power band on the top end. You can't ask too much on the bottom end if you went oversquare but it's really quick though. Nice job
mh ok, I didn't go crazy about the exhaust timing on this saw. After the squish and base cut i took it almost back to stock timings. I was not really aiming for top end.

i love my 660's i own 4 of them 2 are still brand new i bought 2 extra when i heard they were coming out with the new 661 .this 500i is somthing else but for the price tag i cant jump the gun yet .

Idk about this ported one but I've herd of folks abusing the shit out of the 500 for over a year with very little maintence done to them at all and they have no issues. I love my husky 395 but im definitely looking to add this to my arsenal.
What part was ported, just the exhaust or did you do the cylinder too?
Video said woods ported so it was just the muffler I believe.
No, woodsported means ported without much loss of durability, it's a term for worksaws, so no race porting.
That particular 500i has a cylinder with squish and base cut done on a lathe and portwork is done to the intake, exhaust and transfers ports. Muffler is modded too of course

How many hp does it have when its ported? Can you show us how you port them?
Based on a graph from arboristsite with ported saws tested on a stand, on average they gain 15-20% more hp during a porting job. Based on that, this saw should hover around 8 hp.

Chain was throwing massive chips and Stihl light bars are considered to be pretty dang good. What would you suggest?
