  • Just nice to have a good ol' 79er again! With 6,3kg/6,3hp @ 79cc it still has some pretty competitive stock numbers on paper ;)

    Seems to me that you're getting more pep on the low end, that "brap" when you touch the throttle is a sharper upward curve compared to stock. Did they work on the intake/exhaust timing as well during the port/polish?

    Hello, really nice video and good porting work ;) ! In your opinion for a stock saw, what is the best choice between a 390 xp and ms 661 CM ? The stihl is more powerful on paper, but the 390 xp seems more "agressive' in the wood. Thanks !

    • @Dechsi87
      @Dechsi87  Před 5 lety +2

      Depends on personal preferences, both are good saws. Stock vs stock the 661 has a bit more torque in the cut. The 390xp has the better handling and way better air filter system. So overall the 390xp is a more complete package in my opinion.

    I have a makita saw myself and they seem to be very good but the reason alot of people go for Stihl or Hasq is parts availability and parts price. If you can't afford the first two or do not have good reason to lay out for the 'Top Two' a Makita saw is more than adequate for professional use if you pick the right model and to be honest its not because the sawd are not good its more to do with Makita been known for its power tools.

    • @Warpedsmac
      @Warpedsmac Před 4 lety

      Very true here in Australia. The Dolmar brand is really not known at all. I have two Blue Makitas DCS-34 and Dcs 7900 with 24" bar. "Dolkitas" always cut faster than Stihl because they pull a thinner chain through the wood. Sometimes you actually have to show the label to people who refuse to believe they are made in Germany...in Australia Dolmar is heard as an Asian sounding name!!!.

    Stock 7900 in my country is 5.8hp and 6.6kg. Same specs as Husky 572xp. Stihl advertises 6hp at 6kg for 462 i wonder how this is going to work in the long run.
    I have makita 6100 stock love the saw it is enough hp for my 45cm bar I use it for feling and limbing. But if i had an option to use 2saws i wuld use 7900 for feling and something like husky 550xp for limbing.

    • @em4703
      @em4703 Před 3 lety +2

      The intake and exhaust ports (the holes in the cylinder where the fuel and exhaust fumes circulate through) are enlarged in a skillful manner to increase the amount of fuel and air that can circulate through the cylinder per one cycle, while also optimizing the timing. It means more fuel and air can circulate through the cylinder, lowers temperatures, increases compression and, ultimately, power.

      It shouldn't really matter, just tune the saw while buried deep in wood. You won't come close to the limiter rpm that way and you can get perfect tuning for maximum power. Unlimited coil is only good if you tune outside of wood.

I don't want a race saw ... just firewood ... but the muffler sucks on the Makita ones.

      @toddscholze6168 Před 5 lety

      You can't compare wet weight. If one manufacture puts a larger fuel and oil tank on for longer cut times, then you weigh it and it weighs more, people will criticize it because its heavier. Most people are too blind to take this in account.

I have an old dcs520i that was a great saw but parts are obsolete. I've also got a ms310 that I ve used very hard over the last 12 years and the only thing to fail was the ignition coil.
