Best 3 LED Headlights for Harley Davidson-Review-Testing-Vision X Best

- I installed and tested 3 of the best & most commonly known LED headlights for Harley-Davidson motorcycles in this video. I tested these motorcycle headlights in a real world biker environment. I filmed the results & am sharing my findings with you in this comparison video. There are an array of LED headlights for Harley's in the marketplace, but not all are that good. We all know the stock halogen headlights on Harley's lack in brightness, but there are exceptions depending on what Harley model you get. Some models are coming with Harley Daymaker LED headlights now.

#1-VISION X XMC 7" HEADLIGHT LED (By Ciro 3D)
The Ciro 3D Vision X is my favorite and came in first place for many reasons. I really like the look of the headlight when off & it looks even better when on! It has a very nice integrated glow ring around the actual headlight that has a really bad ass look. The other headlights I tested lacked this additional integrated LED glow ring. It comes in both 7" and 5.75" models in colors black/chrome and chrome. It also comes in a two set for Harley Road Glides!
The Vision X LED Headlight is priced at $420, much less than the Harley Daymaker at $525. The best part is that the Vision X outperforms the Daymaker at a lesser price. The Vision X is especially impressive in high-beam mode. It produces a more white, thicker, wider, & brighter light than the Daymaker. You'll want to watch my video to see what I'm talking about. Here is what Ciro 3D says about it.
#2-HARLEY DAYMAKER PROJECTOR LED HEADLAMP
The Harley Daymaker LED headlight is the most expensive and way overpriced. Well, because that's standard practice for Harley. Don't get me wrong, it's a great headlight & I doubt anyone would be disappointed with the performance. It came in second place in my testing. Here is what Harley says about it.
Cut through the night. Harley-Davidson® Daymaker™ LED Lamps are brighter and whiter in color and provide a superior light pattern over standard incandescent lamps. Compared to the yellow light of a traditional halogen bulb, the LED lamp produces a daylight color impression that appears more natural to the user.
#3-KURYAKYN PHASE 7 LED HEADLAMP
The Kuryakyn Phase 7 LED is a good LED headlight for Harley and comes in at a price way less than the Vision X and Daymaker at only $270. I ran the Phase 7 LED on my Harley Street Glide Special for several years before being introduced to the Vision X. I never wanted to pay Harley for their overpriced Daymaker. I even did a video review and comparison between the stock Harley headlight and the Phase 7 LED.
I liked the Kuryakyn Phase 7 and it is way brighter than the stock Harley halogen headlamp. It is more of a budget LED headlight in my opinion for those that want a brighter LED headlight on their Harley, but can't spend too much money. It'll definitely be a step up.
However, the Phase 7 just can't compare when tested against the brightness of the Vision X and Daymaker. So, in the case of these Harley LED headlights, it seems that more money does buy a brighter LED headlight.

Great review & video. You clearly show the difference in the lights instead of just recommending a single light.

The Harley seems to reach out further. First impression.
Thanks, Ryan! Exactly what I wanted to see to avoid making a costly mistake in my headlight purchase. Will I need an adaptor harness for my 2000 HD Road King Classic?
Great video Ryan! I really like the low beam of the Vision X. I wasn't happy with the low beam of the factory installed DayMaker headlight on my 2015 Limited. I adjusted it upwards which gave me a better spread but less punch if that makes sense. High beam is affected also, but overall the DayMaker and LED spots factory setup is great. I recommend this Vision X headlight to anybody running one of those single dingy yellow halogens any day.
For sure, most LEDs are a huge improvement over the old halogen lights. Thanks for sharing your experience.

Thanks Ryan, great video and excellent YT channel!!
Was the high beam of the VX in the video using the "High Four" function ?
Do I need the H4 adapter for a 2017 Street Glide or does this work by default? I want all the lights on when using high-beam.
Keep up the great work?
I'll be doing a complete LED light make-over for my 2017 SGS as well as purchasing some of the modern riding gear you reviewed too. Good stuff!
Thanks for the recommendation of this light.
You bet. I love mine. Super bright!

I was going to add a pencil beam or two on the Ultra because the Daymaker low beam especially sucks. With the increased performance of the new LED I won't need to add any additional lights.
Merci pour cette vidéo !
Good job Ryan.
Vous êtes le bienvenu. Thanks Daniel
Thanks for the video
You guys did the best comparison view here across the board. Wondering if you guys are planning an update now we have a number of manufacturers including Harley with adaptive headlights. Most companies advertising details clearly show the way these lights operate in bends and it appears they are for the most part variants of the JW Speaker headlight rebranded (including Harley's own). What they don't do well is tell you how many effective lumens they offer and therefore which is going to be the best and the brightest in a real world situation. It would be great to see a head to head :)
If they included the Custom Dynamics ProBeam, it would be in the store, bc it’s the best I’ve seen.
What would be your choice for a 2017 street glide, Harley day maker projector, custom Dynamics ProBeam or CIRO vision X? BTW I really enjoy your videos and have learned a lot.
love my light ryan >> but the halo ring does not come on .. any idea why ? i plug it just how you showed on the video.
Thanks , appreciate the vid
Hi Ryan I fitted an led bulb to my 2017 Harley 1200 sportster and when I switch to main beam , after a few seconds it starts flashing ? And ideas as to why ?
When i get my Road king special and want to dump the crappy stock light. I know now what to get. The Ciro . Thanks for all the great info.
How pleasure Jack. We carry the Ciro lights in out store. www.lawabidingbiker.com/store

I just got my 14 street glide I think I’m going to get the ciro ASAP
lol, that Ciro Vision X headlight your promoting is another version of the True beam headlight. I have the True beam and nothing wrong with Ciro doing there version. It's a great LED headlight, let the world know! Also noticed Ciro3d signal lights, that's hot and would match my headlight along with passing lamps. Good work Ciro on that product.
Roger that. Thanks for watching. Yah, as stated in other comments here on this video.......Of course, someone else manufacturers the headlight. Custome Dynamics puts their name on the True Beam, but they don't make it.
Just as JW Speaker makes the Daymaker for Harley. Truck Lite makes the Phase 7 for Kuryakyn. There are only really a couple large headlight distributors. White labeling. Everyone puts there names and makes it their own. Thanks for the shout out and comments!! Rock on
One comment on the comparison... it looked like you had the DayMaker set to point further down the road than the others. Not sure, but it definitely looked that way and was obvious on the low beam test. Great vid anyway thanks Ryan.
Hey Charles. thanks for watching. I changed zero headlight adjustments for the test. I simply removed the headlights from my Street Glide and put the next in. Same camera settings, roadway, darkenss, bike etc. The tests and filming were very controlled as we do here.
Motorcycle led lights have evolved to projecting light in lieu of reflection lighting here in 2020. At the start led was great to keep you from changing light bulbs all the time.
Ryan, Thank you for all the helpful videos. Just purchased my first Harley, a 2014 Fat Bob. Looking to upgrade to LED as I'll also be purchasing the Ciro turn signals that you recommended. Any suggestions for anyone riding a Fat Bob with dual headlights? Keep up the great work!
You're welcome for the vids. Welcome to the HD club. Email Rick, he handles our store. rick@lawabidingbiker.com He'll hook you up with the answer you need.
Referring to someone else doesn't really answer the question. I had the same question.

When Ryan says take a look at your headlight for the proper plug believe him. According to the site I was on the harness I needed was something else from what I really needed. I didn’t check my headlight before hand. If I had, four screws would have saved me four days.

Thanks for the great video. After recently upgrading my spot lights with LEDs, I am now looking to also upgrade the main headlight. I have a couple questions:
1 - will the VX fit my 2012 Ultra Glide Classic?
2- Does the circular LED ring always stay on, regardless of whether the light is on high or low beam, or is there a way to switch it on/off?
3- my bike has the stock HD headlight, however I have a headlight modulator installed on it - will the modulator still work with the VX?
4- When I use the high beam on my stock bike, the spot lights go off.. is there any way to keep the spot lights on if I install the VX?
Very cool. All your questions can be answered here on our store listing. Detailed fitment info. any other questions, hit the contact form there and the guys in the store will be happy to assist you further ==> shop.lawabidingbiker.com/collections/lighting/products/ciro-3d-vision-x-led-lighting

Awesome Video, will the Vision X fit the 2017 HD Street Glide Special?? and is the installation the same, and I do need the adapter that you sell in the store correct.

Thanks Jeff

Thanks for the information. I am look to upgrade my HD with an LED and you videos have been extremely helpful. Have you ever tired the JW Speaker headlights? Any thoughts on those?
You are most welcome. We have tried the JW light and there is nothing wrong with it. We love the Vision X light though. Awesome with the adapter that keep the low beam on with the high beam.

Hallo Ryan, many thanks for all helpfull videos. I just bought a vision x to my Street Glide 2014 my question to you is; on your video you dont mount a anti flicker, Must i have it ? (Need Anti-Flicker if using LED Turn & Brake) Hugs to you from Sweden /Lasse
Interesting. No, we don't use anti-flicker on anything here. Shout out Sweden!!!!
Ryan,
Again you are the man brother, you information and videos are the best I just installed all the vang lighting the rears, only becasue beofre I found this outstanding site I had HD install the led directionals. I also ordered the Custom Dynamics brake strobe that you show OMG these lights are insane and the strobe is AWESOME.
EVERY BIKER SHOULD HAVE THESE WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ok the reason for the email, besides praise to the master, is which product (adapter) do I need from Ciro 3d vISION x HEADLIGHT.
I would have ordered it directly from you, but the site said its down for shipping and I am on a 5 day road trip starting Sunday and I didnt order the correct adapter I got the daul beam adapter but I think I also need the lighting adapter for Daul Halogen to LED and then they must mate together??? BUT THERE ARE TWO LIST ON THE SITE
Which one do I need if I have a HD 2017 Street Glide Special.
PS Maybe I will just keep the daul adapter until you review it, it looks cool
Thanks Jeff
Sorry for the delay......didn't check comments soon enough. Email us anytime for store questions at shop.lawabidingbiker.com/pages/contact
Here is the adapter you need: #45010 - Lighting adapter to convert Delphi flat 4 to H4 adapter. 2014 & newer Harley Rushmore Touring. (see video below-time 5:56)
NO WORRIES
Thanks for th reply I know you busy and also have a real job.
Thanks Again Jeff
Hi Ryan, I'll be sure to install this after I get back from deployment. As I recall you mentioned that this was a 14, correct? Is the wiring the same on the 17 street glide? I ask because I have the 17 street glide and am only curious if the wiring is the same on both. Thanks!
There are adapters available if needed. You can email sales@lawabidingbiker.com. Rick or Brian will get you the info you need.

Ryan Urlacher Hey Ryan. Just installed it yesterday. Sorry but I bought directly from Ciro because they gave me a military discount. Second, something you didn't mention in your video for this install was that when you get this light out of the box, that you have to attach the wire to the connector for the halo and crimp it down on the connector. I wish you would have mentioned that. Other than that it's a great light!!!
Will all these lights fit metric cruisers?
You guys rock!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Go to HEADLIGHT REVOLUTION, great tutorials and comparisons
Would love to see your review on this one - J.W. Speaker 8690 LED Headlight. Looks Cool anyway but for 700 bucks!! Better be great!!
it's great. We get nothing but positive feedback on our Vision X. shop.lawabidingbiker.com/collections/lighting/products/ciro-3d-vision-x-led-lighting
*Hopefully we'll get around to testing that headlight for you Paul.
I have a 2008 Street Glide that needs an updated front light. Does your store offer the Vision X Ciro and the adapter if so LMK and I'll purchase both from your store.

My used 2014 Road King came with Harley Daymaker headlamp and auxiliary lights can’t quite believe the cost, was nearly. $1000. Would have been hard for me to invest that much money into a new lighting system. Glad it’s on the bike but............
Really curious how the phase 7 over the Jw speaker evo2 dual burn , evo2 not to be confused with the Harley daymaker. The two should not be confused with one another. See HEADLIGHT REVOLUTION for a great comparison of all three. The phase 7 not even close to the speaker evo2 or the vision x . Phase 7 made by truck lite and under $170 under the truck lite name. But I get it " kick back " .
I am surprised that JW Speaker and Truck-Lite did not make it in your top three. The Ciro vision x is better than the other two you tested but so is the two I mentioned. JW Speaker can be had for around $250 and the Truck-Lite is around $175. I put the Truck-Lite on my Dad's Softail slim S and properly adjusted the light is clean, bright has excellent throw and shines from wood line to wood line on Georgia's backroads.
We can't do all the lights on one video. JW speaker makes the Harley Day Maker brother. Truck lite makes the Kuryakyn Phase headlight. They're just private labled. That's how the headlight industry works.
I am aware of that I'm just saying that i am surprised these lights did not get a mention do to what you get for the price point. I watched the video you did on the faze 7 and the light emitted on that video looks a lot better than on this video and more like what I see when I rode my dads bike. Maybe its the camera angle or maybe something else I don't know. The Ciro does have a very nice pattern and light intensity but its pricey.
Which one do i order for my Harley Breakout and is it plug and play?
The Vision X has a 5.75" version and a full 7" touring version. If you have the 5.75 in the breakout then your good. Here's a link to the product in our store. Choose your size. shop.lawabidingbiker.com/collections/lighting-1/products/ciro-3d-vision-x-led-lighting
I bought the new daymaker from hd 574$. Had to take it off and buy the previous model because this new hd light is trash.
Do I need the additional pigtail and installation ring for a 2000 Road King?
fitment and info here == shop.lawabidingbiker.com/products/ciro-3d-vision-x-led-lighting?_pos=1&_sid=d7d30f0a6&_ss=r
my drl stop working when i hooked up a light .... if i unplug they start back working do that mean the light is defective
What do you mean by "drl"?
This comment comes 2 years too late lol... I bought a pair of KC led headlights for a jeep. Is it just me or do they charge the same price for a pair than they do for bikes? Could you see if you can use one of the pair for a motorcycle and split the other with a buddy making it half price? Thanks
Ryan do you have an videos on older Hogs? Specifically 2000 Fatboy. Looking for a good headlight.
These LED headlight can fit your Fatboy, My friend has a metric bike and he had no problem. A lot of these LED companies cater to harley bikes so your good to go on getting LED.
But do I need a load stabilizer?
Thought I should add, that now that the current resisters are integrated in the LED's that there really should not be any bad solder joints. That is why my question was about whether you have had any burn out. I have not had the opportunity to test any of the ones used for HD.
VisionX, based in AZ, is the designer and manufacturer of the headlight. they've built a great reputation for having the brightest lights for jeeps, mining equipment, military, and baja racing. We have no problems and NO LED burn outs. Our Vision X has a lifetime warranty.
Ryan
Just one more question how about this would this work also ???
High Four” All On Adapter is designed to accompany the Vortex LED Headlight. Allow the high and low beams to shine simultaneously. VisionX Part # P-HLHI4
Haven't tried it. sounds cool
thank you
You are most welcome.
DAYMAKER LOOKED THE SAME ON HIGH AND LOW .It would have been nice if you showed the blue high beam indicator in the video
Thanks for watching and glad you liked the video. Ride safe
Ryan Urlacher we’re in the same line of work, so I have to give you support. I actually retired this past July.
What's the best replacement headlight for 18 RGU.
It should have the dual HD LED Daylighter headlight. Are you looking to replace it?

So far It seems like the daymaker has a better spread with a nice path and a hotspot and in high beam the hot spot does go further, the worse one I think is the vision x, it has many shadows and it seems bright but not in a good direction
We love our Vision X. I've run both and run a Daymaker on my police bike. In person, Vision X is brighter.
Well, bought one of the Ciro headlights from you and would have been great but got the wrong adapter and when I tried to get help from the Law Abiding Biker folks on which adapter I needed to put this on my 2019 HD Iron 1200 Sportster, I got no help at all!! Guess will have to send all this back to you for a refund!
Sorry to hear that. Please contact our store manager at rick@lawabidingbiker.com He'll take care of you.
Any more recent comps? I think the most viable comps would be between HD Daymaker, CD Probeam/Trubeam and whatever Ciro 3D has out there. As an 2018 Ultra owner who already has Daymakers, that assessment would be very helpful. Keep up the great work!

Will this fit on a FLSTC?
Hit up Rick and Brian in our store. They'll help you out ==> shop.lawabidingbiker.com/pages/contact
They all have a horible light dispersion pattern. All of those shadows and hotspots/lines... For the price of the Daymaker I expect better. It was the nicest but that's not sayin' much.
Is it just me or does it look like the vision x have a big dark spot half way through the beam on the road???
All we can say is we can't keep this headlight on the shelf in our store. We run it around here and love it. Video is good, but there are variances. You should check out the reviews and ratings!! Whatever you see in the video makes no difference in real life riding. shop.lawabidingbiker.com/collections/lighting/products/ciro-3d-vision-x-led-lighting
hey ryan is all the bikes you do is harleys???????
Search this YT channel. We've done Indians, Victories, and a few metrics.
Sadly this type of LED headlight is not available for my 2014 Vrod Muscle..
That sucks :(
Both J.W and Vision X do not have it.. I have no choice.. I bought the cheap one from amazon.. only US150..
Harley daymaker better low beam vision x better high beam..splitting hairs
Agree. And almost all driving is done with the low beam anyway.
ofc the daymaker is double the price
Truck lite for me man, it's an excellent American made light for under 200 bucks.
Good light. That's actually the same as the Kuryakyn Phase 7 LED. Truck lite makes if for them Ran it for some time. Not as bright as the Vision X or Daymaker, but still a good light.
I think the truck lites high beam is unparalleled but low beam cuts off too soon.
I actually ran the Truck lite high beam for a year and a half....... in this video and my testing, it's the dimmest. The Vision X and Daymaker are both brighter. The truck lite came in last as far as being paired up to the other two LED headlights.
all these 7" vids.....jeeeez, I'm calling discrimination out against us 5.75" owners ;)
(my 5.75 LED from fleaBay [$33] is worth its weight in gold...fak an incandescent bulb)
Too much money for the first two! What a rip off. These days LED'S should come stock, come on Harley!
I agree with you. some models do come stock with LED's. There's many things that "should" come stock. HD making the $$$$ on add-ons for years
