+Brett Harrison The levers are right where you mentioned, just about where you would normally rest your elbow. I was a bit disappointed they could not put switches on the front end loader lever but once I got used to using them on the right side, I never think about it. I had this installed by Oklahoma's largest JD dealership and they did a horrible job. I didn't inspect their work because I assumed they were professionals and knew a lot more than I. They let the hydraulic hoses dangling under the tractor and once I started using it in rough spots, one of the hoses got jerked so hard it broke one of the fittings. They wanted to charge me to fix it but I pitched a fit and they didn't charge me. Once it was fixed, I went back and used about a dozen heavy duty zip ties to keep the hoses so they can't snag on anything. I absolutely love this grapple.
+James Fulks that's too bad about the install, I'm glad they worked with you, as they should in that case. It looks like the grapple is a great implement and should be on my purchase lost for spring. Is that an everything attachments grapple?
Hi James! I just found your video after looking for a while to find recommended grapples for JD 3038E. What size grapple are you using? I just ordered a 60" duel lid wicked grapple from EA last week. And while waiting for them to build and deliver I started wondering if the weight of this grapple will take up too much of my loader capacity. I ordered their 3rd function kit with it so I could have the 3rd function control on the joystick. What are your thoughts on this grapple since you've been using it. Does it limit your lifting capacity due to the weight at all? Would you order a different one or do something different if you were to order again? Sorry for all the questions? Thanks, Jason
Jason, I have been extremely pleased with this grapple. I would say it is my favorite implement to use on my tractor. It is a heavy piece of equipment and you will notice I have a heavy box blade on the tractor for ballast. Honestly, I'm not sure what size mine is but I think Travis at EA will steer you in the right direction. I had the John Deer dealership install my third function valve and they did a terrible job but I finally got everything set up nicely. I think you will be happy that you ordered the dual lid. I would absolutely order this exact grapple again. As far as lifting capacity, it will lift all you will want to lift within reason. I have lifted boulders and moved tons of wood with it.
