THIS IS AMAZING!
Holy shit thank you!
😊
And so are you Nick! Legend
Nick is legend. Obviously.
I believe this is the most truthful drum cover from the original Nick Barker drumming.
Thank you! I really tried to copy everything note by note - everything else would have been lazy :D
100% true, amazing
Except Nick doesn’t use doubles. Nicks singles are lightning fast
@@michaelglindmyer3336 he isn't using doubles either. at least not in terms of hitting order. it's regular LRLR hits, just the technique to hit the second LR hits is executed via ankle instead of leg
@@hazardeur I’m referring to the Tom rolls. It looks like he’s alternating doubles and singles
What's most incredible is Nick Barker actually recorded every song on this album in one take! I remember reading that somewhere when this CD came out. Yea, it's not just Nick's ability or his pioneering style that is most impressive, it's his compositional choices! He really elevated the role of the metal drummer with this CD. Unsatisfied with just keeping time, he enhanced the sound of every other instrument being played while adding tension, dynamics, and accents in all the right places. It changes the music from 2D to 3D.
Nick Barker IS an out of this world kinda drummer, yes !!!!
Absolutely!
Barkers drumming on this album is just next level! Awesome cover! 👌
Barkers drumming in general is just sublime. The man is a legend!
Everybody talks about the technical skill in Nick's drumming but the creativity required to come up with all that is simply mind-blowing. Him and Gene Hogland are the extreme masters
don't forget Tony Laureano too. his drumming on "In Their Darkened Shrines" is incredibly creative too.
I sat here for 10 minutes trying to figure out something to say, this is AWESOME... Nick Barker 🐐
Nick barker best black metal drummer ever !!!
Bro YES! I was 15 years old when this album came out. I remember going home after school everyday and playing this song....for years.
You fucking NAILED IT dude. So great. And damn 1 footed blasts wtf you crazy 🤯
Same here around the same age...good times for shock people in school with blast beats xD awesome vid btw!!!
That's crazy bro. I actually remember when I first heard you playing in brain drill back in the day. I heard this album when I was 15 as well. Same with Cryptopsy and several others, origin, Nile and such. Crazy enough my bday is 11/20/85. Good to see you're still crushing it bro!!
IMPRESSIVE.THIS ALBUM WAS A GAME CHANGER BACK IN TGE DAY.😀
this is an example of impeccable perseverance, discipline and mastery. Congratulations and huge respect
Nailing the technical aspects of this song is massively impressive, but nailing the FEEL of the song... Unbelievable. You manage to maintain Barkers groove during the whole thing, I'm not sure many people realize how it is to replicate another drummers feel.
As a guitar player, Nick Barker is my favorite drummer! This album opened my eyes to these aggressive black metal blast beats and double kick drums!
I really enjoyed your cover! Really brings out hot genius Nick Barker is!
Damn, that was literally perfect. Single foot blasts and all.
Finally here comes the drum cover of Blessing Upon The Throne Of Tyranny by Dimmu Borgir (Drums by Nicholas Barker).

Have you re uploaded some of your videos? I could swear I watched that of fire and the void cover when I was like 17
Holy shit, this was insanely precise. Lots of fuckery when it comes to Nick Barker. Flawless job, man.
@@finnofaman4557 No reuploads on my chanel as far as I know - my very oldest video is from 2008 I think.
@@wanjanechtangroeger that is super wierd
@@finnofaman4557 I think that was another drummer, no? There aren't a lot of covers of this song, for the obvious reason. I think I also saw that same content.
I agree 100 % everything you said about this song, Barker has been also my all time favourite drummer and I was blown away when I heard this album for the first time. It's a blasphemy that Shagrath hates this album and especially that drum sound so much and now they are remixing and mastering it, for nothing. -_- Flawless cover btw, respect!
Thank you! Wait what?? They want to remix this??? Maaaaaan - the electronic and "spacey" sound of it all is a big part of what makes this album so unique and special. And it goes really well with all the weird keyboard stuff going on.
@@wanjanechtangroeger Precisely, and that razor sharp edge in those drum sounds fits perfeclty to this kind of aggressive but industrial atmosphere. It's not the best sounding drum kit/sample library for sure but it fits, that matters the most, at least for me. And for you to know, they already released this song remixed. czcams.com/video/qvi_ieB8oNc/video.html
@@Patrikblast Thanks for the link! The new mix is not bad, but it really lacks this "razor sharp industrial edge" you were talking about. Compared to the older mix it almost sounds "weak" :D
@@wanjanechtangroeger Yeah, it's not bad at all but now it sounds like all the other modern metal bands where you can't hear the drums that well anymore. They took all the Pantera elements away what Shagrath hated. :D For me, this was always a drummers album and now they almost muted them. :D
@@wanjanechtangroeger I thought you launched the cover respect to the recent remix and remaster of this song that is around the net.
That song is for me a complete school of how play extreme metal in the past and nowadays, amazing job Nechtan as always flawlessly amazing
The bridge at 2:32 into the 3/4 timing is so fucking awesome. Barker is a legend for this album alone. It whips ass start to finish
Pretty nice to be able to listen to this with the drums sounding like real drums.
I love how precisely you're able switch between push pull and singles depending on the pattern of rolls, as well as how you fit the extra stroke into the push pull motion for the triplet feel beats. Great drumming!
FAVOLOSO!!!! Si merita tutta la gloria!!!
Gosh your footwork never fails to astound me!
Inhuman perfection......wow
impressive technique! well done
That was amazing. Love all those barker details you managed to replicate 🤘
Thanks! Yeah, I really wanted to play the song as true as possible to the original!
Your double strokes are so powerful !
Incredible,.just awessome..heavy machinery
This is incredible. Barker stroked every fill and completely destroyed at all times 100% of the time. The way you conserve energy pulling this off is impressive, the amount of double strokes you used really displays how monstrous Barker is
Nick was the best dimmu drummer and without a doubt one of the best drummers in the genre. This cover is amazing bro you fucking nailed it. Would love to see any other covers from this album, every song that nick was on is pretty insane
Awesome cover Wanja! Tight and crushing. The fact that you've utilized push/pull, doubles and singles in the same track like this makes it even more enjoyable to watch. Keep up the great work, and respect from Kazakhstan!
You got compliments by Nick himself, what can we say? Great work, mate!
Yes I would love to be able to play this song. Been at it on and off for a few years and the blast parts are just too long, too fast. But I'm slowly getting there. One day dude. Absolutly phenomenal playing by Barker. A milestone in metaldrumming.
I absolutely love barkers style ever since cradle and i am also a drummer who has spent time studying his chops...the fact hes self taught floors me but he just makes the songs work so good and you nailed this track without bullshit and fluff thanks man well played very well mapped out the nuances were on par too😈
That foot technique, wow. I know what it is, saw him explain it, even attempted it for a while and no luck, it's just so crazy, heel-heel-toe-toe.
Amazing excellent performance 🤯👏🏻💯
Excellent cover man! Even with stellar technique this song demands endurance. This album was the soundtrack to my friends and I growing up in high school around 2000-2004. Nick plays a full set, usually without a metronome, and seems unphased by the physical and musical demands. I remember reading that most of the songs he recorded with Dimmu Borgir were done in a single take. Like, what the actual fuck? He's a real living legend and the most important unknown drummer in the world today. I purchased a drum kit and learned to play around 2001 mostly because of Nick Barker and Danny Carey. After a couple years I was pretty good on the skins and I could play some Tool songs. But I could never play any Dimmu songs! Just learning to play a single verse requires practice, patience, and technique that simply isn't available to humans until you unlock your ultimate at the bottom of your skill tree. Nick has inspired so many musicians that today's metal wouldn't be the same without him. Thanks for learning this song and performing it for us! 🤘🎶 The rock n roll hall of fame is patiently waiting to be inducted into the Nick Barker.
Прекрасная техника и исполнение!!!!!!
Agreed, Nicholas Barker is legendary. Well done!
Love how his hihat pedal is just over there chillin’. Lost and forgotten lol
Been listening to Dimmu Borgir since 2006. One of my favorite black metal bands along with Old man's child. Always love hearing drum covers especially from the Nic Barker albums
Great work man! That was amazing! You definitely aced it. Nic Barker has said himself in interviews that his best work was from his work in Dimmu. No other Dimmu drummer has come close to him. And here you are aceing it!
Give em a call!
My favorite song out of this album, just because of the drumming and you nailed it!
Beautifully done. Amazing skills being shown by you as always sir 👏
You have own great mastery of your own doubles technique I guess....playing this song..you make it look so easy
Majestic execution!! 🤘
Wanja this was an amazing spot on cover! Man just goes to show how incredibly talented and underrated Nicholas is, his drumming is extreme yet tasteful, any album he's played on he's made those albums shine 🤘💀🥁🔥
Flawless.
Perfect.
Wow.
Amazing cover! Mr. Nick Barker and this album don't have the recognition they deserve. Masterpiece!
My fav band dimmu borgir 😁🤙🏼
Es increible, la tecnica espectacular, felicidades, todo es prectica y por años, ya que las baterias de ese disco son ya de un nivel que no muchos llegan
You make it look easy, Friend !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Every time i came across DB drum covers from Barkers times, i cant stop getting amazed by his brilliant drumwork and talented drummers that covering songs, big thanx for that.
Bravo sir, bravo.
So damned tight!
Nicely done man! Definitely my favorite song off that album, possibly my favorite Dimmu song ever. Someday I'll tackle this one 🤘
Great drumming. Thanks!
I like your foot and hand technique. Great job!
Super Wanja Respekt 👍👍
Holy s**t dude, amazing work! A pleasure to watch. Even now Nick still sets the standard for tasty extreme drumming.
Amazing bro! Keep it up!
Amazing !!! So perfect
GEEEZUS DUDE!!! NOTE FOR FUKKIN NOTE!!! BRILLIANT JOB!!!!
I’m blown away. Absolutely fantastic cover brother! One of my favorite Dimmu Borgir songs👍🏻👍🏻
Amazing, what a great drummer, super tight.
This is great song
Wow man. Perfection. I am not a drummer. I play bass and guitar. I am not that much into blackmetal. More a thrashmetal and deathmetal guy. But this 1 particular song of Dimmu Borgir has real awesome drums. That quiteness and then the drums fall in again. God bless man. It sounds friggin wonderfull.
This is just the best and most perfect drum cover I've seen.
5/5
By the way, amazing hand technique my friend. Congratulations!
Brilliant!!! Damn good!
Two words : Epic 🤘🏾
nick barker was the best dimmu borgir drummer ... a freakin beast !! Amazing cover!
One of the best covers I’ve seen.
Very entertaining to watch. You killed it man!
Love it!
Ugh. Love it.
I can't believe how much of this song is done with single kick! Excellent work!
Great cover! Nick is my favorite Drummer too.
technique is on point brother, very tight playing!!! great cover
What an awesome cover of my favorite drummer too nick barker.
Thank you for this cover, It was pure pleasure to watch and listen.
My dreamsong is "Dusk and her embrace", which is also played by Nicholas, as you know. Now, after 12 years of learning, playing in different styles with completely different musiciants and bands (even big band), I'm working so hard to be able to play this song, because heavy music was the reason why I began to play drums.
Still fighting with my double bass skills and pedal settings, because at one day I can play Nick's fast and short outburst, at other day I barely can move footboard without lag (feels like beater is so heavy, spring is slow and etc.). Also my stamina is below average on this heavy stuff, maybe it's just suboptimal tecnique and bad breath habits, unstable posture.
Dude you’re a beast!!!! 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Back when Dimmu was good, great drumming👏👏👏
Very very cool! 🤘🏻👍🏻
PERFECT ! PERFECT !!!!
Der beste 👍🏼
masterclass
Haha this commentary in the end was so unexpected for me. Big words, my *favourite* song I have for myself is Symbolic. That's definitely something people need to "dream", keeps motivation up. Nice video!
Nechtan, you are awesome! You play so clean and tight, unbelievable. In my opinion you are (on) level with Samus. ;-)
Amazing! Well played man🔥🔥🔥
Greetings from Pittsburgh Pa USA
There is a CZcams video of Nick Barker about 40 seconds from the beginning, jejeje tremendous and killer. Thanks for your version is terrific!!!
Spot on. I always knew there was some sort of multiplier on the bass pedal but now I finally see how it works!
Insane
For me it's the first song of the album after this. That long intro track, a cymbal choke, & about 120 bpm barrage. I heard that album before this one.
Excellent cover, Nechtan! Nick Barker is also my favorite drummer, and you played that so tight. Great work
One of my all time favorites masterfully done!
A lot of subtle details captured, brilliant job!
Amazing 👏👏👏🤘
Зашибись, чётко!
You are great!!!
you got skills man... keep it up and may the youtube algorithm favor you.
