My last playthrough of Syndicate, I went the whole game without using the rope launcher. It's a fun playstyle and it made the game more enjoyable/challenging.
Sounds pretty interesting. I might give that a shot at some point, at least for some vids or whatever.
Old comment but yes, I did that too. Makes the game much more enjoyable. The grappling hook is way too unrealistic for my taste... I would have preferred it if it worked similarly to the one in Uncharted 4
I really liked the grappling hook as the buildings are extremely big and takes time to climb
@@shaguftanadeem8084 That’s one of the reasons I enjoyed playing without it. You actually have to look around your environment and determine the most efficient route around or up a building. That would usually end up being some scaffolding along the side or climbing a pipe that leads all the way to the top. It feels a lot more realistic and it makes you slow down and take your time with the game, which I found made it more enjoyable. :)
@@Arkenway do you know how much is unrealistic in AC games? Wrist guns, wrist crossbows, wrist hooks, the davinci inventions like the flying machine and tank, poison darts that make people instantly go crazy, sleep, or just plain die, hidden blades themselves are a very questionable design and especially unrealistic the further back in time you go, as is dropping 3 floors and killing a guy with it without any injury or dare I mention the notorious surviving dropping a dozen stories into a haystack, not to mention literally everything to do with the isu. AC is just very unrealistic, you just gotta accept it and whatever gamey reasons there are for much of those inaccuracies
Is it weird that I actually like the combat in Syndicate? It’s like an interesting blend of AC3 and Unity’s systems.
-The control scheme is the same as AC3
-You can counter-kill, but only when your counter-attack would do enough damage to kill
-Near-death state from Unity returns, but enemies can still attack you while in this state
-Enemies attack two at a time again, and the multi-counters can kill neither, one or both of the enemies, depending on their remaining health
-There’s a proper way to dodge gunfire that doesn’t effectively disable your character for two seconds like in ACU (even outside of combat!), which can be turned into a counterattack of its own using one of your projectiles
-A later skill you unlock enables a soft killchain mechanic where you can put an enemy into a near-death state and then chain the effect to different enemies, but you still need to be observant because enemies with their defences up won’t be affected by it
-The multi-finishers are a reward for achieving effective flow and being tactical/patient in the fight, rather than button mashing and killing every enemy the second you get them to a near-death state
-The controls are quite responsive, and animation cancelling is usually very easy to access
Overall, I think there’s a lot to like. I would like it more if it were slowed down about 10-15%, but the extremely fast pace doesn’t bother me _too_ much. A lot of people criticize the lack of weapon variety, but something to keep in mind is that Jacob and Evie have unique animation sets with each weapon type, as well as unique multi-finishers and multi-counters, although they do share some of those animations. What are your thoughts on Syndicate’s combat, Leo?
I like Syndicate combat, when played "normally" it's like a cheap-ass Arkham clone, which is fantastic. It's the last time Assassin's Creed combat approximated anything close to its original system without all the slug-and-slow of Unity.
I’m assuming by “normal” you mean in a regular playthrough. I can imagine this system would get beyond tedious on a no upgrades run, lol
Yes.
If syndicate has unity's parkour and a map that supported it as well as unity, it would be my favourite ac game. London is the most detailed map they've made, even if Paris was better desinged for the actual game it was in. I love the victoriana aesthetic, and how assassiny it feels, and the level design is the best in the series across both main missions and side missions. Shame it gutted unity's best feature so much.
Yeah, I've thought that to myself a few times over the past few years. Assassin's Creed tends to do this thing where we're always trading away something for something else. If we get a cool detailed world with responsive gameplay, we don't get strong movement. If we're getting snappier combat and a story with incredible Isu/Present Day elements, we get a game that's just way too long with awful stealth. We just can't win, it hurts.
This last true ac game.
Pretty much. :/
I like Origins as a game, but definitely not as a AC game.
I say there is no last one, they’re all true lore wise.
@@thisisafalseaccount105 odyssey takes a shit on lore... and more like warrior creed
Ya Valhalla odyssey and origins are great games just not god ac games
2:02 Hospital will be full
At least a good-sized room inside it, anyway. :P
1:21 reminds me of that part of the new Batman trailer where that thug just eats like 1,000 punches
I know right, what an actual god.
Can't believe this game is already 3 years old.
Time sure flies.
This comment is 3 years old haha
Can't believe this game is already 8 years old.
Man, I love Syndicate, but I wish there was some multiplayer.
Why must you forsake us Ubisoft! 😓
Just wasn't what the team valued, I suppose. :P
@@LeoKRogue ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
How would you rate syndicate? I liked everyone before it. Should I get it?
Sure! It's a fun game.
Correct me if I'm wrong as I have never played the the game, but I feel like people were put off by the rope launcher as it could have been a bit "too much*. It doesn't seem to harm the experience much... Do you have any problems with it leo?
I don't have any problems with the Launcher, I just think it's too simple and doesn't have enough mechanics attached to it, so it comes across as a bandaid fix to the game design challenge of, "how do we let the player move through the world effectively when buildings are SO TALL and streets are SO WIDE?"
@@LeoKRogue That makes sense I guess I was looking at it from the wrong angle. Is the game still worth picking up with valhalla on the way?
Valhalla won't be out for several months still. That's plenty of time to play Syndicate, which should be quite cheap now.
If you enjoyed Unity, Syndicate is like a slightly less special version of that.
3:26 whole clip is sweet
Thank you! I like it quite a bit myself.
Hi Leo k. What ypu say, to buy unity or this. All I want from AC game is to stealth killing and do parkour. What must I buy Unity or Syndicate?
If you don't care about good combat, buy Unity. That has more interesting Parkour than this game, and lots and lots of Stealth Killing. :D
Leo K [Rogue] if I buy one of this I will not do updates and puches and I say thet maybe Syndicate plays better without patches and updates. Can ypu tell me? I know the Unity has some bugs without puches but the bugs is gamebreaking? If it doesnt game breaking I will buy it but if the bugs without updates is gamebreaking I will buy Syndicate. Can you awnser?
This is tough to answer, you'd be taking a risk either way.
I think Syndicate is more likely to run better than Unity overall, so if you want to be safer, I would just do that.
Leo K [Rogue] the Unity has Gamebreaking bugs?
It can, yeah. It can have bugs which make playing it a torturous experience.
1:27: that wall finisher was brutally personified
Animations were much more unique and creative in the pre-Origins games, I feel.
@@LeoKRogue hopefully mirage brings that back with the assassinations too
0:25 how you do that jump to the side? Ps4 controles pls
Be holding onto an edge with your hands. Holding R2, release your Left Stick to neutral to 'reset' its state, then tilt your Left Stick in whatever direction you want to Side-Hop to. If there's an appropriate platform, ledge, or fence or something, Jacob/Evie will jump onto it just like you saw here. You can do this on _a lot_ of places.
@@LeoKRogue love u thanx
@@LeoKRogue wait does "release, then press" also apply in unity? that would explain a lot
@@ratchetclank4745 in unity side ejects are like the main thing that separate those good at the parkour and those not. I don't think you have to necessarily always move the left stick to its dead zone first. But yeah, holding high profile and pointing side ways will have arno do a side jump, and he can do it from further away or lower from the platform than syndicate. As long as it point toward the other object relative to the camera it should trigger.
Not adding narratives to kidnappings and assassination of Templars and gang leaders is a missed opportunity. The side activities felt repetitive. The game has good flow. Not many people read through the Animus database, which contains amazing content about these characters. If these content were incorporated to the gameplay it would make these characters feel more unique.
Agreed.
@@LeoKRogue by the way huge fan of your content.
lmao you are brutal 1:20
What exactly is your favorite moment of that segment? :P
I put it in mostly because there are two unique Finisher animation that Jacob does there, and I don't see them very often so I was enthralled.
the overall abuse. when you parried the guy near the wall after a brief stare off is probably what i enjoyed the most. Thanks for asking haha. Good video btw
Thank you kindly Robyn. :3
I do try to inject a little bit of Character into mechanical actions sometimes. :D
Still making my Unity Tricks Guide and I've picked up some steam on it so hopefully I'll have something interesting and educational to show you soon!
I wish I could toggle my hood Ubisoft could have implemented it into the game control by double-clicking the right analog/stick
Me too.
360p squad where you at?
You're just too fast, Key!
Ye.
Wow...so fluid. I like this game more than Unity, city looks better, is better for parkour and they struck a better balance between animations and controls at least on PC. So I am glad you gave this a chance and like what you did with it.
Thank you. ^_^
I quite enjoy Syndicate, it's a bit better than folks give it credit for, I think.
It definitely isn't better for parkour but yeah the city looks great and it controls and plays much more consistently that unity, especially stealth.
Almost every ac game makes running look wierd
For sure.
