Wow, this is actually better than half the shaky mess you see in some films
I agree. Part of the satisfaction the viewer gets from a fight scene is seeing how the fighters come out on top - how they block, punch, move etc. That's why people watch boxing matches. It's not goos if the camera jumps around or shakes and you can't see what is happening.
IT IS! I don't get why Hollywood movies like to use shaky cam in fight scene. Maybe it's because the limitation of actor's fighting skill? So they can cover/minimalize their coreography handicap with that?
I agree with you all though I do like when shaky can is used in a running chase scene or a POV when someone is getting punched or is punching also it's great for impacts when someone gets slammed on something other than that I totally agree people definitely need to see the fight choreography I really feel like that's Hollywood cutting corners sometimes I believe they completely X Out fight choreographers and just do shaky-cam
Shaky Cam is an art to use that almost noone uses correctly. This fight scene was nicely shot yes but in some parts I was still missing some wide angles and the hits weren't imapctful due to the choice of the camera position. But this is me being nitpicky and comparing it to asian productions. So disregarding my comment, this is really very good and Hollywood is a piece of crap in comparison to this.
@@rezapratama8633 It is mostly limitation of actors fighting skills but also time schedule. It is easyier too shoot handheld and faster. But this doesn't excuse the fact that they also use it on highly skilled people like Iko Uwais in frickin mile twenty fucking two movie by peter berg. What a shame. That's what I call throwing money out of the window on skilled people and in the end they don't get recognition cause the action scene look fucking miserable.
This is the product of hard work and practice ya'll. Film Riot has come a long way.
great to see you here
I absolutely loved Josh's character in this. The best part was him just dropping his baton and opening the door for the person escaping. Great job guys!
You guys really need to make an action movie. Seriously, Ryan's writing for action is always on point. As well as their comedy, but I think their action stuff is always the strongest and the ones I'm most excited to see. This scene was just amazing. My favourite so far.
Thanks so much! Action is definitely one of my favorite things to shoot.
hey guys, please make a tutorial on how to shoot a nice scene with one camera.
Josh kicked ass in this!! His presence gave more life to this short ;D
yeah. He was great! But he's great all the time...
True :D
Truly an amazing actor. Bright future ahead of him
Lol Josh is like: I Didnt sign up for this shit!
After she walks out of the door he opens, Josh says "Yep. I'm fired."
Donovan Simmons " I never liked this job anyway"
LMAO ikr
I'd say she's the most badass yet! This is awesome, I like the way that the impact of the hits is shown, on screen, to make them feel like they actually connect. Instead of cutting just before the hit which seems to be so often the case in fight scenes.
Love the way this came together. The immersive perspective on that first brawl is my favorite.
Thanks man!
You really need to make a full length feature film, seriously.
Thanks! That's a huge compliment. It's definitely something I am working toward.
I always loved Josh acting. But the longer I watch the channel, the more I start to love how he does it.
Great job as always, Triune...
Hell yeah! Badass!
nice to see you here man!
Go back to voicing my hopes and dreams!
HEY AZERRZ
Love your videos
Wow you watch them thats cool
you've successfully nailed the mix of Film Riot charm and high octane action! I haven't watched the BTS yet, but I'm looking forward to it!
Thanks man! That's awesome.
Awesome scene. Working on a short film involving a fight now. Super helpful.
That was neaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat.
Thanks!
Film Riot
No my friends....thank youuuuuuuu!
?
The last guard was like "Nope, i'm not getting paid enough, fuck this shit."
Then he was like "I'm just going to be a gentleman and open the door for the lady"
Josh was the best part. Forget about the normal action scene we see all the time. This video should be about how to do visual comedy! That part was gold.
Why is josh legit Oscar worthy in like every performance
I am blown away every time I watch the ending of this film. THEY GOT A FREAKING CHOPPER
They got a helicopter! And Josh lol made for a dynamic fight scene
This was amazing, I love the fact that the camera angles allow the audience to follow the initial part of the fight from the protagonists POV, seeing the attackers when she did!
You completely nailed my intention. That was exactly what I was hoping you'd feel, so thanks for saying it!
+Film Riot ahh I'm so glad! I just watched the tutorial on the scene and I was extremely pleased when I found out that was your main intention! It definitely showed :)
I found it interesting, how through the first shot I was able to tell he was gonna be shying away from the fight, I'm not sure how you all achieved placing that much character into one shot but I could just tell that he would chicken out when she found him. Great job!
You can tell that Ryan took notes from "Losses" because this is very reminiscent of it, but way better. Good job to everyone involved, another great, fun short film👍
That part with Josh just watching the cleaning stuff get chucked out was hilarious.
The cinematography is superb. if you can replicate this, you have won half the battle.
Reminds me of that scene from daredevil!!!!! awesome!
Everything about this says...talent. I always use this when I am choreographing fight scenes and how they will be filmed.
That Stunt Man at the end pulled off a mean stunt back to the Wall.
Fantastic fight sequence and the camera movements put as all in that hallway with Josh, bravo.
Josh was the best part. I actually did laugh out loud. :D
Oh, yeah... The choreography was done better than many movies I've seen.
This was the first Film riot video I've every seen. Been watching ever since
This looks and is done so good, this fight scene is filmed and done so much better than most movies today, no annoying shaky cam as well!
Best three and a half minutes of fighting I've seen in a long time. Great work.
Josh literally made this film! Without his character it would've been missing something special! So well done! Hahaha the suspense up to him dropping the baton and even just how he turned around all nervous and ashamed was perfectly donen
Done!*
It's the only character moment we get from this short. I'm glad for it.
I'm still wondering why bald guard took his time before he approached and his his partner, accidentally. Every other mark was well-paced.
This is genuinely impressive even after all these years! I particularly like how she kills the third cop!
An A+ in my book!! Straight up bad...!! Sequel please!!!
Great stuff. LOL with Josh until the end. I thought for sure when I saw his demeanor and the janitorial gear, and build, that she would slip and fall in front of him. And be half-out, unable to get up but threatening him, and he'd build the courage and walk over and tap her on the head to knock her out. Then the superiors walkin and he gets the credit, or he morphed into unstoppably over-pulverizing her. The superiors walkin' and pull him off and he gets the credit as the crazy bad ass.
Definitely my favorite one of this series so far. Great idea. Loved the various custodial items being thrown out of the room.
ANOTHER ACTION SHORT YEAH!
Action month is a HUGE step up for film riot
Hands down one of the best fight sequences I've ever seen. Ever.
I like the little twists in the end of your short films... Like Ghost House... Or Chainsaw... It's the small unexpected things that make it...
Man these are good! That was so easy to follow and the camera was completely its own character. I love that. Well done!
the level of film riot production has gone up significantly lately! this is AWESOME!
Another great action short of course!
This is by far the best one yet.
THAT was a KILLER fight scene!! and I loved the comedy piece as well.
Freaking AWESOME guys!!
Love the ending with Josh. Great action and very funny!
This was AWESOME! Def my favorite so far. Good job Film Riot team!
Finally. A fight scene without a shaky cam.
Just when I thought it couldn't get any more epic, you just blew the last two shorts out of the water! This was fantastic! Great job guys! Can't wait to see the next one!
These shorts get better and better. A cool hall scene to watch is both versions of "Old Boy".
So well done
Wow, this was really well done! It reminds me a lot of the fight scenes in Daredevil (the Netflix tv show).
Love Josh at the end just letting her through.. so silly.
Sick job on those fight scenes guys. The music, acting, sound design, and editing came together really well. This didn't even feel like 3 minutes honestly, time just flew.
3 minutes is not that long of a time lol
tracychretien Depends lol I've seen 2 minute shorts that feel like an eternity to get through
1:46 That moment when you realize that you don't need your job
OMG. I watched Josh open the door like five times. Great action and great edit.
So great. Best one of this series.
Absolutely brilliant!!!
of the series "great fight i didn't seen" great work everyone!
I just realized that is Bradley Freakin' Friesen with his helicopter! Awesome!
The security guard bit is still funny and relatable 🤣
Wow! That girl opened up a fresh can of whoop ass! Good action and funny! Thumbs up!
This is my favorite so far! So good!
this is my favorite fight yet! The choreography, comedic beats, execution and pacing just all worked perfectly
Thanks, Dylan!
HILARIOUS! I always love your sense of humor in all your shorts! Very well done. Great acting by Josh.
Why this fight scene look better than anything I've seen on Iron Fist Netflix show??? Amazing work!
00:27 that camera angle tho
Fantastic pacing, directing and editing!
This is like a mix of The Raid with a dose of visual comedy. good job!
This has some great fight stunts! Love it 🙌
My favorite scene yet awesome work!
Some short features should be made into feature films and this is one of them. I like it.
This was by far the best short up until now! Absolutely loved it!
(btw speed ramping wasn't noticeable this time , so 10/10 for that!)
Really enjoyed it. My favourite Action scene so far
Honestly, you guys keep getting better and better. This film would get any type of award because it is great. Respect !
I love everything about this! Haha! Josh, the only employee not cut out for the job.
Nicely done! One of the best film riot sketches I've seen in a while.
some of your finest work.
So awesome how you pull me right in the story, when there is not a real story. You guys did a great job, again!
Expertly done guys and much better than most of the big budget fight scenes I've seen lately!
Spectacular and awesome work
OMG, that was SO COOL!!! great scene, great production...i simply loved. congradulation for the awesome job
I love you guys of Film Riot, greetings from Mexico!
Honestly my friggen favourite one yet! That was crazy. You're an inspiring person Ryan.
Great job!! Amazing and exciting!!
This kind of reminds me of something you might see in Orphan Black. Just the protagonist, situation, and general aesthetic. Cool stuff!
WTF!!!!!!!!! This almost made me cry. What a gorgeous clip, what a job! Congrats so much.
So good. So so good....and funny...I'm laughing out loud on the bus like a crazy person.
I appreciate that shot where she kicks the guards hand towards to camera.. subtle...but genius.
Very cool work to everyone involved, a great action scene with solid convincing impact heavy actions.
Dude, I am so inspired right now... Thank you!
Totally awesome!
pretty incredible. glad to see you guys having the opportunity to make such great stuff--still drinking out of the film riot mug erryday for like 4 years now. you've always been a cut above, but it's cool to see the progression nonetheless
Brilliantly done.
keeps on getting better and better
you guys really are inspiring, thanks so much for what you do.
Oh man, I forgot how great this one is! Amazing job all around!
Awesome job. Great choreography and no hiding it with editing. Hollywood AAA movies could learn from this.
Guys that was SO SICK!!! holy crap your best fight scene to date!!
