This was the biggest upset of the year, but I won't lie or take this away from the two by saying they played their ass off. I wanted Tokido to win and make history as being the first player to win EVO and Capcom Cup back to back but MenaRD proved how much he wanted it more. Please don't call him names and say things like "If this was USFIV Mena would've been blown up by Tokido." Whether that is true or not this is SFV not USFIV. Show the guy some respect as Tokido did. Through out the year, MenaRD had multiple matches again both Punk and NuckleDu, either win or lose, those were very close matches, so I am not surprise with the result today. He really proved himself by beating Xian, Daigo (former EVO champs), Kazunoko (former Capcom champ), Itazan, Nemo who both have excellent performances today. Finally, he bested Tokido, who is considered the best Street Fighter 5 player at the moment. This is history, and well-deserved for MenaRD
he deserved it.. after making quick work of Nemo.. I new he would beat Tokido.. He beat Daigo.. he deserved it truly

dude😂😂😂 I was watching the first part of the capcom cup, the 30 some players then when I finish I was looking for the top 8 and came across the sakura trailer, then I saw max reaction video (Maximilian Dood) and when the video started he was talking about how disappointed he was with the finals lol and i was like WTF? I was 100% sure Tokido would win this and i was in shock so I came to see the finals even knowing the results either way. :/

For all you menaRD haters do take note that he won this event fair and square. He had to fight through the toughest players on the planet, 2 times which were tokido. Plus he was using a low tier character of all the cast. Between all the players he deserved this more than anyone in the circut.

Everyone "most" of the time usually looks like the characters they play. Example Murderface aka Tokido plays Akuma. Daigo looks like a generic good guy ala Ryu/Guile.
I am a huge Tokido fan and obviously was rooting for senpai since the beginning. But damn I can't deny the joy I felt seeing Mena win for his country and breathing new life in the DR FGC!

Well you have to hold a button, which means you need some planning and you lose that button while you plan for it, Birdie is not exactly a great player, playing Birdie against Guile is a nightmare and Mena managed to beat Daigo in that matchup.

Tokido disappointed me in the 3rd match. he was 2-0, a couple hits aways from winning it and he ex wakeups them damn uppercuts. He lost the game there. Really wanted my demon to be and stay nr 1 this year. If he‘d played more like he did against punk.. And if he‘d rely less on demon flips and that 50/50 set up (which mena studied and guess what wasn‘t cought once) he would‘ve scared the shit out of mena.
Props to mena though, in the end winning this stacked tournament and take the finals from tokido in losers is really something.
