I was a crematorium operator for 12 years. I would always say a prayer, and pat the casket/air tray before they went in. All funeral service people feel the same way. They may not show it, but they hurt silently.
I was a crematorium technician for the last 10 years of my working life. Just as this guy says........cremating babies and children is gut wrenching...... you cannot begin to say how it seems so unfair that the little ones never had a fair go at life. Personally with children, it used to destroy me for the rest of the day after cremation and quite a few tears on the way home too but having said that, the families of the children had to live the rest of their lives after this terrible event. The only way for me to get through this is knowing the families expected me to do my very best for them and i can say hand on heart, i never let them down.
@Humble guy - It takes a special type of person to do the job of crematorium technician. One who has empathy and compassion. What you have said shows you have those qualities in abundance.
I can't ever recall a crematorium technician not explaining other than " we don't like cremating babies and children". That statement will always bring home the psychological aspect of their chosen profession!!!!.
Nicola law yes you are absolutely correct,I think a large majority of people either forget or blatantly and vehemently are opposed to cremation of babies and young children ... but yes it's life and it's deeply difficult to understand why parents or authorities choose cremation as a final journey after passing away.
I'm hoping to become a 'Crematorium Technician'. A new crematorium being built close to me. Any information you could pass on to me about the application and interview process, as well as the role itself would be very much appreciated.
@@drhimkhan Same here. Always wanted to be in this type of job but never had 'the push ' to go for it. Waiting for a new Crem to put out for technicians in my town as the decision was taken out of my hands when i got redundancy a month ago. Now raring to change direction and do a job i know suits me
This is a not a job , for everyone, but it's a job someone has to do ,you obviously don't suffer from anxiety,I prefer burial for me, but you are a good representative of this profession.
As columbarium interment is becoming more common, many churches across the country are developing cemetery columbarium gardens on church property. They turn to Sunset for planning and purchasing their church columbarium. www.columbariumusa.com/florida/ #cremationmemorialsflorida #floridacremation #cremationmemorials #florida
To toilet duck 92 in defence of the Crem tech he didn’t arrange for your 7 year old sister to be cremated he only performed the act of cremation, that’s his duty after all for you to basically accuse him of being heartless is shocking ,I myself as a crematorium technician take your comments to be in very bad taste we do our jobs to the best of our ability under the hardest of conditions at times ,you might only go to a few funerals in your lifetime we’ve been to thousands of all ages so , you should apologise to him and think what you’re saying in future
This man is so gentle and has much respect for his job.
