  • Since filming this video I have heard back from Jesmonite LTD. They were able to tell me what they recommend for sanding and sealing. I have added the updated information in the video.
I am using Jesmonite sealer purchased from E Bay in a small pouch. You can purchase sealant in huge bottles from Jesmonite stockists.
Resin 8 have also launched a Jesmonite range and they also sell sealant.

Love your videos, you're the best for sharing so much knowledge with us!! Question for you...I'm not a huge fan of the Acrylic Sealer (unless it's absolutely needed like on coasters, soap dishes). I have some trinket trays that I really want to keep ultra-matte and therefore I really don't want to seal them with anything. What are your thoughts? Have you ever kept some pieces unfinished? If they're meant to be indoors only, do you see any issue? Thank you so much!

Heyyy Claire, I'm also looking into Jesmonite ofcourse and I saw another youtuber using just Mica powder with it, add the mica to the jesmonite powder and stir it really well until it's all in the powder you can make it light or darker with mica powder what you like, and then just do the rest like you do with jesmonite, someone made it baby blue and the trinket was really pretty and you did not saw any mica powder that was not disolved in her piece, so this gives you a lot more color options 🤗 hope you can try it out also byeeee

Does jesmonite scratch easily. I've been using an industrial plaster of paris type material for last 5 years but recently started adding pigment to it so as to create a concrete effect. The problem I'm having is once dry the plaster is quite chalky and scratches easily and I can't find anything to protect it from scratches and scuffs. Without adding pigment scratches were not noticeable so was thinking of switching to jesmonite but wondered how search resistant jesmonite is? Is it possible to also apply mod podge on the top as a sealer or would the mod podge peel off?

Heyyyyyy Clare ... thankyoooo I'm glad you like my videos ❤️❤️ the best sealer I have found so far is the Acrylic sealer from Jesmonite. Water rolls right off ... the thing to remember is that it makes them water resistant. You'd not want to put AC100 in a very damp environment long term. Coasters and placemats work fine wipe clean only etc .. xx wax is easy to apply and gives a great finish however I don't find wax as scratch proof as the acrylic sealer. It's worth running a couple tests for yourself with the sealers you have just to see xx
