Hives's peak popularity in 2020 were related to two things, end of the year of COVID 19 pandemic, and minecraft's insane popularity of 2020. The Hive was doing their best at this time, listening to community feedback, bringing updates as we know it. Now since the popularity of minecraft is at its low's like 2016-2017, and the community has moved on having less time due to life and work, the Hive won't see a return in player counts as massive as they got in 2020-21. Those were some of the golden years of gaming, and Hive I won't forget them even if I have quit minecraft and this server, for good.
those big boosts in player counts were BIG updates like sw and sonic so the all time high for hive was during the sonic event when dr eggman showed up at around 60000 players. Crazy
I don't think the hive is dead as it is the 2nd biggest bedrock server and still averages 20000 players and it's also the only server with good "casual" game modes but I understand your opinion it does have way less players than it used to and I've also stopped playing the hive as often as I used to because it's getting boring with barley any updates I didn't really care about the new hub or gravity because I mainly play skywars
I feel like they should add more modes that are fitted for both sides of the community one side of the hive might not like the competitive side (SG Skywars Treasure Wars and The bridge) maybe to gain more players there should be more fun party games for people less oriented in pvp
i think uhc would be very fun, but i do not think it would be good to keep concurrent players. the game normally takes a while and if you are a casual player you would get wiped quickly

I always say this, and I will say it again, Hive focuses way to much on the way the map looks. Think about the bridge they have like a whole city on either side of the map that no one can even play on and when that game released there was so many gameplay issues. I love the maps, the maps are arguably the best part of hive, but that is also there biggest issue. People care more about a good functional game mode over a cool map.

weird I have been getting bored of treasure wars but I have played it almost since it came out mained that game mode even getting pres 5 and 1 again on new acc!
I really they'll add more gamemodes for mobile players like skyblock, survival,and uhc ofc, or like any gamemodes that mobile players can play without getting destroyed by pc players.
@@wentyworth4413 the bad part is that its difficult to strafe, go in third person mode as you have to go in settings, get cps and better control cuz mouses are easier and jump bridge but the good part is you can hit anywhere on the screen and its super easy to learn the controls,
Hive need to add skyblock as its the only big game they dont have as it might bring cubecraft skyblock players to hive and they need to add UHC like you said both those games will make the hive alive again
