Very rarely will you hear back from a scholarship organization if you were not the recipient. You can always try reaching out to them to see if/when a determination will be made.

You might file a financial aid appeal with the school to see if they may have additional aid.

As a senior this is the time of year to be looking for scholarships. Many deadlines for local scholarships are in the spring time. You will note the "most likely" school that you will be attending. You will have time to change that once you know which school you will actually attend. It is best to have a major in mind and not declare "undecided" for scholarship purposes. You can always change it once you make a decision.

What is a good but affordable college or university do you recommend?
It is hard to recommend good affordable colleges since there are many in the country! Start with schools in your home state. Run Net Price Calculators for each school to determine affordability. Good Luck!

You want to look at all of the community foundations in your state, since some offer state scholarships.

Organizations won't look at parent finances for graduate school and/or if the student is 24 years old or older.

Simultaneously. Many private scholarships are available without having applied to college. However, there are some scholarships that do require proof of acceptance.

There are! You'll have pretty decent luck looking for scholarships for "non-traditional" students, but also consider approaching your local workforce development office (could be titled something different in your area) as they sometimes offer grants for people returning to school after a long hiatus/switching careers.

You will need to search for scholarships that you qualify for, apply, and wait for the results. Every scholarship has different requirements so you will have to search for the best ones for you and your situation.
Nothing applies to me. All the scholarships are extremely specific and the ones that arent are chosen at random.
Major scholarship websites tend to offer national scholarships. Local, regional, and state scholarships are usually not promoted on these websites. Those scholarships might be better suited to you.

No. Most private scholarships will go with you whereever you attend college, unless they have restrictions such as only a specific school or only for in-state schools. If you are awarded a scholarship, the organization will confirm which school you will be attending.
