    Theme of getting chased by some random group of brigand raiders on day 5 while on a contract to clear a camp

    It reminds me of the old "World Map" soundtrack that wasn't used previously. This is definitely a much needed amazing soundtrack that examplifies the hope, aspiration and glory of a mercenary company. Beautifully well done.

      Spot on, this is a rework of the old world map track that didn't make it into the game back then. Yeah we wanted something uplifting for the DLC to get players into the right exploration mood ;)

      Thanks! Its amazing you guys! I remember the feeling when I got started up with the new DLC, and hearing it. It's just so awe inspiring.. I remember going through the osts and came across the old World Map song. I played the game frequently, but always thought it was missing such a main song. Glad you guys decided to add the reworked ost in. Its just so so good! You guys were spot on with this hit!!

      The part between 0:58 and 1:36 seems to be the core of this new song.

    I had the pleasure of listening to this soundtrack whilst hiking through the woods near my town in the Netherlands. It was a truly magical experience. Thank you Breakdown Epiphanies!

    Have you worked on other games soundtracks, especially of medieval type ? You did a great job for battle brothers' music and made this game even better than it was already (that's what great composers are hired for anyways !). It's pretty uncommon to find 2D strategy games with such a good artistic direction, both for graphism and music.

      Hi Cheapmunks, no Battle Brothers is the first medieval/fantasy style project we have worked on and so far it is the only one. We are currently recording a couple of new tracks for the upcoming DLC. Thank you for your words of appreciation, great to hear that you enjoy the soundtrack!

    Is there a band or something that plays music like this? what genre is this anyway

    • @breakdownepiphanies3364
      @breakdownepiphanies3364  Před 4 lety +11

      Hey Prime, sorry for the late response. I would categorize the music we made for Battle Brothers broadly as Hollywood movie style orchestral music, mixed with some folk and ethnic influences. So the tongue in cheek answer to your question would be those bands are orchestras.We do not have an orchestra at our disposal though, we rely on virtual instruments mixed with some solo instruments physically play here in our studio to create mockups of realistic orchestrations. If you enjoyed this track in particular I think you'll also like John Powell's score to How to Train Your Dragon, the good old Jurrasic Park score by John Williams or the score to Lord of the Rings by Howard Shore. There's tons of wonderful orchestral music out there, it's a deep rabbit whole to fall into. In terms of game soundtracks, you should definitely check out Jason Graves (his soundtrack to The Order 1886 is great), the Bloodborne OST (both of those are more on the darker side), Austin Wintory's score for Journey and Henry Jackman's soundtrack for Uncharted 4. All of those are great.

      @@breakdownepiphanies3364 to me it was more vaguely reminiscent of the Witcher OST? Something akin of a mixture of orchestral and folk?
