@Lord Admiral Spire Yeah I'd leave him until later. You can power through with good builds/tactics on vanilla but legends has randomized skill trees so it's very difficult to make the typical banner guy/nimble health tank/etc.

Definitely. Immersive overall and exciting where it needs to be. Incredible game. I used to love to fight barbarian hordes and try to fearbomb them to make up for their numbers. It was savage and epic. I've bought the soundtrack but I listen to it on YT mostly, to read comments while doing so.
I like to fight with barbarians only for this song

From the uplifting and pompous music of the 14th century Europe, through barbaric chanting and drums of the Northlanders, to very smooth and fluid strings and flutes of the Gilded and the mysterious and tense melodies of the Wilderness, ending at the raw fury and power of the Greenskins.
You my friends, are true maestros at work.
Kind of curious which one you'd say is uplifting. Pompous, sure, but most seem neutral at best if you get past the opening, where all seem a bit about fighting not being a pleasant business

@@GWo14 always gotta get him to at least 40+ MD tho, hard and expensive to get guys like that. Still an Unlucky Greataxe Roll for Max damage right to your head will still absolutely obliberate almost anyone even with Nimble and chosen love to bring those...
Man Barbarians in this game are the coolest. I usually have orcs as my favorite faction/race/group in fantasy games, but the Barbarians just become cooler Orcs. I have seen many an orc run from battle, attack shirtless, and they group up with the goblins too. Barbarians got a freaking drummer, horn helmets and giant beards.
I so enjoy fighting orcs and barbarians in this game. Barbarian revearers can be so brutal when they toting those skull hammers en masse and oh boy if there's a drummer and the fight drags on. It'll be a sruggle.
Why don't players get drummers ☹️ guess I gotta beat them with "superior tactics" by which I mean spamming my roster with sellswords, hedgeknights and a single monk

I love it when it plays at the beginning of the barbarian campaign
The first time I faced a barbarian king it was legendary. I didn't know what I was going to face, but I took the challenge. The fight was pretty intense and it lasted many rounds, we held ground as long as we could, and we managed to keep most of them at bay, but some, including the king, flanked us from the side. I made the mistake of letting one of my longtime crossbowmen too exposed, and I had him face the king himself. I made him switch to his hatchet, and prayed for the best. He held ground many rounds, as he could dodge many hits, but it was too much, and met his end. Throughout the encounter, my other men were trying to hold ground while some were also hitting the king from afar, once my crossbowman died, the king was totally exhausted and helpless, and one of my new recruits, who had fought just one battle before, ended the king with his crappy long fork. He didnt do it alone, but this accomplishment was enough for me to grant him the title of king slayer, Hilderich King Slayer, what a lad, he's still with the company and I always send him against barbarians, now properly equipped. My best bowman also suffered am injury, a permanent one, luckily it was just his knee, which reduced his initiative but didn't affect his marksmanship. While I was looking at the obituary, I remembered that the crossbowman who died had killed one of my men accidentally months before. The guy who died was pretty unremarkable so I didn't care much. Maybe it was fate, maybe he was living on borrowed time and this is how it had to be.

Just recently saw a video that throat singing kinda got mashed into ""viking"" culture but really didn't come from there at all. Something about audience expectations and such. Very interesting. This still slaps and still fits though (sepcifically because of our expectations lol)
Yes afaik throat singing is part of the Mongolian musical repertoire. At least I have seen Mongolian throat singers live before. Agreed on the audience expectations and with the world of BB being fictional we also have more liberties with style mesh ups.

I was expecting some cool new gameplay. And I got that. What I didn't expect is my new favorite BB song. This DLC is the best steam purchase I've made in years.
This is fantastic - my favourite track in a game filled with good music. The way the song intensifies as it goes further is a real treat in-game while you're fighting, and really draws you in. I've caught myself more than a couple times making rash decisions because I was sunconciously trying to match the pace of the music.
This song really draws the inner desire to unleash your primitive instincts. This one is easily my favorite.

This song, man. I can't count the amount of times I've listened to it. I think i listen to it almost everyday either on my way or during my work out. The power of the drums and chanting is just intoxicating.
When the merchant is paying you 250 gold to escort a caravan half a day to the north but you get ambushed by 15 reavers and end up losing your entire company except the little guy with a stick you just recruited and decided to keep at the rear.

My goodness, you guys are incredible. All of your tracks are so freaking good and immersive to the setting. The way each track is unique but is appropriate to the setting is just amazing. Having put 300 hours into Battle Brothers and still never get tired of hearing these tracks. Look to follow more of your guys work - fantastic!
Absolutely incredible new tracks for this DLC. Guys, buy this OST if you haven't already. One of the best fantasy soundtracks out there.

Thanks BigMike! Nothing to translate here though, all the words are made up and improvised, we tried to mimic the sound of old Norwegian tunes.
Personally I didn't have much problems with barbarians, but on my most recent run I went to one of their camps that was filled with chosens, 3 armored Unholds and their beastmasters and a champion chosen. I was pretty confident on winning until the champion obliterated my best 2 handed swordsman (battle forged) with a single hit...
I know this is a bit late but try to have a dedicated whip bro who can disarm a chosen before you fight them up close.
When you forget that the squad of barbarian chosen havent used their adrenaline yet and this song starts playing right as they as start cycling it in front of your 2-handers...
I hate those barbarians that show their faces with the smirk, then using adrenaline rush in one of my heavily injured brother..

This song reminds me of the Romans marching through the Teutoburg forest right before ambush and annihilation. You know you're fucked when the trees start throat singing.

The haunting dread of the undead theme was my favorite in the game. I'll never forget the tension of the music, followed by the shock on my face when the first undead stood back up....

Once only in this game did I feel pure, unadulterated hatred and, dare I say, bloodlust.
It was at the beginning of one campaign or other. Town Councilman Whatshisface in Backwaterburg saw fit to hire my motley crew of about five nobodies with pointy sticks to go clear out a barbarian settlement. "Meh," I thought to myself, "too much risk, go do it yourself, Your Grace..." But then, I read the flavor text.
Now, maybe you encountered this as well. The Questgiver goes like "You know, the hairy bastards kill our guys and burn our stuff, but that is not the worst of it." And then he shows you the decapitated head of his kitty.
We hired every last pair of hands available and armed them with whatever bludgeons and pigstickers i could afford.
Then, we went there and massacred them all with extreme prejudice.
It is difficult for me to this day to pass by a barbarian site and resist the urge to level it with the ground.
Amazing work ! anyone can tell that these tracks were crafted with real skill and devotion to the subject at hand.

Fantastic music again by Breakdown Epiphanies. I love the atmosphere of the game and their music is 50% of it. This track has a dark tone but also sounds action packed too, great work :)

This and Al-Anwar's Pride are my favorite tracks from battle brothers. I always get a bit disappointed when I'm fighting barbarians and it plays the other track because this one is off the cheesy.
