- The newest addition to St Andrews Links, The Castle Course was built in 2008 becoming the seventh course at the Home of Golf. Set on a rugged cliff-top with spectacular views over St Andrews, The Castle Course offers a memorable golfing experience.
Had the opportunity to play it a few weeks ago. By far the most challenging course I've played. I almost quit the game all together by the 4th hole. But it was well worth it. It is a true test of golf and an even greater test of that golfer's perseverance

Lucky to have played the Castle course a few times it is a stern test but Iove it . Yes the greens are quite tricky Im not the best putter but seem to putt well there . The views the variation in hole layout together with some good elevation changes . 17th and 18th quite daunting if having a good round aim well left for both if want to play safe . Hope to play it again sometime given the choice rather play the Castle than the Old Course !!
Played here this morning and an amazing course. I played Eden, New Course and Jubilee the days before and this was easy my favourite. Great condition, greenkeepers need to take a bow as a former greenkeeper this course was by far in the best condition. Thank you to Colin the course starter, he was brilliant and his advice very valuable... look forward to returning
Played this course about 4 years ago, was a warm welcome, great facility’s, great views, great course layout. The down side was the greens were so undulating it got a bit silly, specially the 10th par 3, also we kept being hurried by the marshal when we were kept waiting by the group in front. It is well worth a visit though.
I played there in 2018 and I thought it was one of the toughest golf courses I had ever played, And I live 5 miles from Bethpage black which I’ve played 1 million times
I played this course in summer of 2022. I’ve played the major courses in Scotland and Ireland and then some other less notable courses. This was the toughest and least enjoyable course I played in the British Isles. Greens almost gimmicky with unreasonable pin locations based on slopes. Many blind approaches and shots. I will never play this course again when I’m back. I will say the club house and ProShop were top notch and the restaurant food was extraordinarily good.
