For the baby lamp, they used the doll found in Debug. Watching that kid grow from baby was so disturbing (like TS1). I basically skipped TS3 and have been playing TS4 for only a couple years. I had a 100 baby child die as soon as he became an adult of embarrassment. But as I raised him to adulthood, I was able to keep him in the count!
I'd read the reviews (having been so disappointed with TS3) and when I found toddlers weren't included I passed. Didn't try again til toddlers were added 3 years later on a 48 hour free trial. Machine at the time wasn't good enough, so didn't buy for another 4 years.
Story time re that fan one. As a bit of background, my game was a garbage pile of mods, CC and corrupted saves because I am chaos. One time I was really into my game, like I'd been playing all day non stop. I could smell TCP, but assumed it was something from outside so didn't really pay attention to it. There was a sudden crack, smoke whooshed out of every vent on my laptop, and it died. The smell of burnt plastic was thick in the air. I quite literally simmed my laptop to death. Clean out your mods and your vents people!
You should get Better Exceptions by TwistedMexi. It's a great tool to identify broken and duplicate mods. Install it, launch the game, let it perform it's initial scan. When the scan is completed, chose «display report» and exit the game. The report will open in your default browser. It'll show you a list of all your mods and CC, highlighting any duplicate and broken mods. Delete the oldest duplicates and the broken mods from your mod folder. Keep Better Exception for 2 or 3 cessions to catch more eventual problem mods. You can then remove it.
Same! I played it on release for like two weeks and then reinstalled Sims 3. I didn’t start playing 4 until they added toddlers and still keep going back to 3 lol
Those of us who played Sims 1 (showing my age here lol) and any of the playstation games were used to the infant aging up to a child lol. I remember the excitement I felt when Sims 2 came out with their cute babies and toddlers :D that was a gamechanger (literally!) when it came out for those of who wanted more back then. Sims 4 is a damn shame to its older predecessors.

On the emotions death: If a sim had a chance of dying from extreme emotion after an event like catching their long-term partner cheating on them I'd like that. Especially if the chance increased based on closeness and how long the sims have been together. People can die of extreme heartbreak so it'd add realism and drama to gameplay
Oh my gosh! One time my heir got home from rabit hole high school and was so angry. SHE DIED WITHIN SECONDS OF RETURNING HOME! I didn’t even have a chance to calm her down. Then the grave glitched and disappeared so I couldn’t even download an ambrosia off of the gallery. I then left without saving. Well, it turned out, the last time I had saved was when she was a toddler.
People who use cc for all their sims and all their interiors must be in hell every time there is an update. I only use gameplay mods and get so annoyed when one of them doesn't work😭
But most of my cc does not break with updates. I can remember issues when beds were updated with the HSY animations, and one update that did break windows, but even then once the issue is located Sims 4 Studio can do a batch fix. The gameplay mods are what are most likely to break post patch XD
My first ever sims 4 gameplay experience ever: a friend had gifted me Eco Lifestyle. I was minding my own business when an eco inspector came to check my house. Died on the front porch before they could even up charge me. I have since called Eco Lifestyle the “Tax-Evasion Expansion”
I think alpha cc can work, at times, but sometimes it's too realistic. Or that's weird clipping issues that just icks me out. I think it's just because sims 4 is so cartoonish that having too much cc makes the world around me feel off. Like watching a generated sim with super odd features is too jarring for me... but I still get alpha or maxis cc for the clothes/hair and accessories options 😁👍
9:30 it takes 30min for the game to load and glitches/ pauses every time I play. But it’s an addiction I can’t break, my cc folder is bigger then the game itself
Honestly, I was the same when 4 released. I bought it and played for a couple of weeks but went back to 3. To this day the only real legacy I have in any sims game is in 3 because of how fun it was just to play it. Seeing my sims kids walk to school just down the street while my sim was getting ready to head to work and his wife was tending to the newborn. I think I played through 3 or 4 generations on sims 3 and I can't see myself doing the same on 4. Edit: Also, regarding pc's and the game, my fans don't spin up at all. The game is super easy to run and temps never get past 60c for the cpu. This is on my system which I still need to replace 2 of the fans that died last year. Though sims 3 still makes my fans and temps go crazy lol.

I once wanted to do cozy gameplay about a couple on univercity, but the girl had High Maintenance trait and she died from anger the first night, because the neighbours were woohooing too loudly. i used to have all sorts of mods and cc when i first got TS4 because i didnt have any packs and the base game is severely lacking. until my entire game was broken and completely unplayable due to lag and stuff. now i pirate the dlc and my game runs perfectly fine except normal TS4 broken-ness
In my experience any Sims game works better on laptop even with cc bc every single game's code is held together with tape and glue so laptops can handle it better bc they have smaller capacity. And tbh I'm pretty sure Sims could've ran even on microwave lol

Lollz. From past using CC on laptop, it only makes the game load slower tbf. The rest of the device acts fine. Them CC creators or Maxis did something. Plus the most issues sometimes, closing game is the hardest 😅😅😂 (Task Manager helps...👀👀😄)

9:30 i play on an old windows 8 with cc and the game runs very choppy and the sims look very smooth (as in their features in their face arent as defined) but i still manage 😃
3 years to get toddlers, then 6 more years to get infants... What new life stage between baby and infant will we get in 9 years ? Unless we get playable babies instead of object babies... I have over 40 mods and 2000 CC and my laptop fan barely speed up when I play The Sims4...
yeah. obviously cc and mods are gonna make the game heavier. but just the game itself will do it. tbh there's hardly any difference between now with cc/mods/dlc and when i first got the sims and it was just basegame. no mods/cc loads slightly faster, but it's hardly much of a difference

The birthday death is real, I had a teen daughter die as soon as she aged up to young adult too. I did keep her as a ghost daughter tho lol

i used to have all sorts of mods and cc when i first got TS4 because i didnt have any packs and the base game is severely lacking. until my entire game was broken and completely unplayable due to lag and stuff. now i pirate the dlc and my game runs perfectly fine except normal TS4 broken-ness
In my experience any Sims game works better on laptop even with cc bc every single game's code is held together with tape and glue so laptops can handle it better bc they have smaller capacity. And tbh I'm pretty sure Sims could've ran even on microwave lol
I love me some alpha cc, but i use it sparingly cause it can look traumatizing taken to the extreme

this alpha cc isnt for me, but sometimes i see alpha sims or alpha sims clips and its kinda crazy! looked like a whole different game but the sims looked great lol

Lollz. From past using CC on laptop, it only makes the game load slower tbf. The rest of the device acts fine. Them CC creators or Maxis did something. Plus the most issues sometimes, closing game is the hardest 😅😅😂 (Task Manager helps...👀👀😄)

I don't understand why people get mad when I say I don't like something that they like. It's ok, we can still be friends. Lol. My sister's ex got REALLY mad at me once because I said something he liked sucked and he was all, "What if I said something you liked sucked!?!" Kind tbf. From getting the game, I was wondering why the device was just acting so far beat (fan). Still TO THIS DAY - new device - the fan is SO loud. This game is like a menace 😅😅. Anyway, I see your reason, it does seem like each back, it boots even more wildly. IT'S INSANE!! 😂 Never had a game that just feels like, it's the end, and sounds like it'll catch a fire, or lift off (fly) 😂

9:30 i play on an old windows 8 with cc and the game runs very choppy and the sims look very smooth (as in their features in their face arent as defined) but i still manage 😃

yeah. obviously cc and mods are gonna make the game heavier. but just the game itself will do it. tbh there's hardly any difference between now with cc/mods/dlc and when i first got the sims and it was just basegame. no mods/cc loads slightly faster, but it's hardly much of a difference

Are you on console or PC?
for PC it's ] (right square bracket) to size up, [ (left square bracket) to size down
Use ] to size up and [ to size down on windows. I don't know if it's the same on Mac.
Not every country is ] or [. Keyboards are different in every country apparently. Just try keys around the right upper side of the keyboards, next to the numbers
