I'm gonna be real: As a heavy CC user, I don't give a SHIT about kits since they are cosmetics only (CAS, build or buy). Like, yeah, some of them look good, but there is also a whole lot of CC that looks good too, and way more, and it's free. I only care for gameplay, and we all know it's been lacking A LOT lately. They annouced so many kits for January-April and I honestly don't give a flying fuck. :)
Seriously, I think EA is being cheep. Sims 3 World Adventures is my favorite game. 3 new worlds with loads to explore, collect, and build. I think Sims 4 is selling bits and pieces via multiple packs and kits which could have been one amazing expansion pack.

Look it was between the castle and future... we definatly don't have anything to go with the future... we would need a gamepack full of stuff to even use it. With the castle we have vampires some paranormal and other stuff to even attempt to use it
Well I mean... they didn't exactly give us many options. They asked "you you want an empty kit that is kind of like stuff you already have and that we know you have been wanting an entire expansion for? Or do you want an empty kit that you can literally do nothing with because it won't match anything else in the game and literally noone has been asking for?" And the community picked the former.
considering the option was castle kit vs futuristic (mind u i wouldve loved a futuristic one cause i think we have way more than enought stuff to build castles) theres way more fitting stuff for castle kit. we have outfits that fit into the entire medieval vibe from get famous, journey to batuu surprisingly, cottage living and some others. as for furniture theres a lot of stuff from all sorts of packs, maybe they don’t necessarily fit a castle but they work quite well all together

@gracerose4272 piracy is very common here because of the incredibly high prices. the eps are 200 BRL, it's insane. but I'm blessed enough to be able to afford the packs I want. I haven't bought a kit yet, though. I'm considering some of them but still reflecting if it's worth it or not. cc is definitely the best option.
All these kits, mostly, are ADDITION to all the billions of packs available. For example Castle kit kinda works if you have vampire pack, realm of magic, and get together. So you gotta buy those, you can't just own the castle kit and think you can do something with that alone. Oh no no. That's not how EA works. You gotta own all the packs to get almost full experience 😂 and mods to fix everything EA won't bother with 😅

Goth kit definitely needed hairstyles. It's not bad just not quite Goth. Needed the Lolita/school girl plaid skirt, garters, corsets etc. The castle kit REALLY needed something to put inside. Thrones, knight stuff, fireplace with a giant cauldron on a hook to cook (not sure what it's called), tapestrys, etc. Just a few things for the inside. Now we need a medieval gamepack for clothes, gameplay, items - probably EA's idea! Maybe a Renaissance Faire stuff pack?
Shoulda called it an Alternative Kit and cover more of the genres. Scene, punk, emo, metal, goth, grunge, even juggalo maybe. Victorian, steampunk, theres so much variety
I really want decades kits. Clothing for all different eras. I mean big deal we can make a castle but what about the period clothing to go with it??? I'm hoping they will give us more somehow. Satch is so right, they put the cart before the horse. They should have had some sort of royalty pack and THEN add the little kit things to enhance it. Sigh, they are honestly so detached from the game.
Something I'm particularly surprised they've never done is like, more tools decorations. I was trying to decorate an American style garage recently with an area for the dad and realized there really aren't any ways to decorate for a sim who likes DIY or anything. You know, like those metal wall things for hanging tools on like hammers and saws and screwdrivers and stuff. They've added stuff like "hobbies", gaming decor like controllers and knitting decor and jewellery and all kinds of other stuff, but absolutely nothing for our handy Sims! I think a DIY'ers dream kit to go along with the handy skill and aspirations would make so much sense, and would kind of go along with your garden shed idea too, like a handy Sims garden shed!
The Castle kit reminds me of what happened with Oasis Courtyard, but worse: At least we have a few world to build castles in (Henford, Britechester, Windenburg, Forgotten Hollow...) but this is the type of content that should have been released as an EP or SP to include CaS, BB and Gameplay. Without all of that, I'm wondering what's the point of this kit? Renovating the Goth Family house?
I really like the Castle Estate Kit but I agree. I just finished furnishing one portion of the castle I built and I was trying really hard not to use cc, but I caved because Yes you can make the base game/get famous furniture work but the swatches are so off. I was trying to go with red and gold and there is no furniture in red and gold in the game. None of it comes in a proper royal blue swatch and maybe this is unpopular opinion but base game furniture looks like really old furniture (the aesthetic is off) ❤Not to mention the kitchen did not give regal at all. Realm of Magic counters worked but there are no top cupboards which makes zero sense. Vampires furniture as well is a bit too dark, grungy and eerie, perfect for a goth castle but not when you are trying to build something elegant and classic. Maybe I’m just picky but it was a struggle and still is because I’m still busy You will need a realm of magic, vampires, get famous at least. Also it annoys me that there was no matching platform paint because to make grand staircases, platforms are important.
The castle and oasis both tragic cause this is an exact aesthetic that sims is missing and would be great to have, but such a kit is just so little but they also decrease the probability of having a proper game pack from them. I dont think oasis sold as much as backyard campers, yet a morroccan or casablanca gamepack would be so nice to have.
It's so true, kits need to be way more packed than what they are. We always end up with the same bathrooms, kitchens, regardless of the style of house, because there are just no options. It is ridiculous that this Castle kit just has walls and windows, what an insult lol. Today people work from home to build games, and this is the best Sims employees could come up with? Come on. Lol. Fans make better kits and gameplay for NOTHING.
I play the Royal Kingdom Challenge, originally for Sims 2, but I’ve adapted it for Sims 4. I’m very excited to build castles for my Royal and noble sims. I know this doesn’t come with any items, but Romantic Garden Stuff was just free, and it goes nicely with it, and there’s is a lot of base game furniture and decor that go well it castles. I’ve built a few castles without this kit, and they were missing the battlements and arrow slit windows (which I wish didn’t have glass) and a stone fence. I also love the new frieze. I also wish we had a new roof with the kit.
Country themed kits would be really cool. Objects that are typically in every house in that culture, so simmers can make houses that looks more like the ones they live in.
You make such a good point. I struggle making coherent builds in general, to be honest. I love each individual room, but they don't seem to belong together. Unless I'm always using the same furniture, which gets boring.
I agree with every other aspect, but when it comes to people wanting castles and royal gameplay like just play the Sims Medieval, it's a much better game overall anyway
You said something worth to mention. "It makes you want more". Yes! That's what a company should do. Makes you want more. In the previous the Sims installments you wanted more, not because you needed them but because the game was soooo good you wanted more so you could sunk your teeth deeper. Every the Sims 3 trailer-announcement was a mini heart attack. Every single pack was a success (not you Katy Perry-stuff packs). You watched the trailer and you knew you'd be getting what you saw plus a ton more. The Shit 4 on the other hand makes you want more cause you need more. There's nothing to do, the features are just scratched surface (if you're lucky enough and they work), implemented poorly, it has no ambition, no vision, it's just things thrown on the wall to see what sticks. What was a minor feature in a huge ep in previous Sims games, is now an upsold pack in the Shit 4. I could give a ton of examples but to me Get Famous is a great one. Yes the fame system is addicting but... a) The World is small af b) The celebrity system is immersion breaking. Celebrities will come at your world and knock on your door casually. c) Only 1 active career which is boring af. You literally just click here and there and voila. Done with the day. d) Missed opportunities to implement the music industry. You can't be a singer, record your music on a studio, promote them, go do lives or on a "tour". Another huge miss is Island Living. a) No hotels b) No open sea c) No underwater d) Lackluster mermaids e) No sea sports Ι could add almost every pack but hope you see the point. They take previous games of the Sims, 2 and 3 and tear them apart to pieces, making you need to buy more so you can have something to play with. You can't possibly tell me that Horse Ranch couldn't be in Cats & Dogs (Pets)... And yeah yeah you going to tell me "Hey Cats & Dogs aren't in the theme of Ranch" and I'm asking you. You think that a Ranch theme is more important than a full, fullfilling gameplay? What did this 40$ pack offer? Horse CAS and animations, gameplay with Horses that is just animations, riding a horse to nowhere since the world is closed, the races are a rabbit hole, the new ranch pets are ripped straight from Cottage Living, the wine making is straight out of Eco Lifestyle, the ranch handyman whatever they're called is straight from Vintage Glamor and just like the buttler, that mf ain't working... Where is the innovation? People seem to love Growing Together but why? It should've been in base game. It literally added almost nothing worth of 40$. You can't persuade me otherwise.
I think the pool ladder got added later when the sims finally added pools to the base game months after release. However, you need Get Together if you want your sims to have a diving board.
I also agree the downfall of the goth kit was the lack of hair I do enjoy the rest of it n the different swatches r quite nice I also really like the pastel options bc it makes it easier to make a real pastel goth I think the confusion comes from the fact that there are many different subcultures within the gothic style so there are different types and styles of goth and over the years these have adapted and changed the kit on its own with just the base game is alot less flexible flexible but let's be real here I think we've all bowed down to daddy capitalism and have a couple other kits n packs 😂 it works really well with the grunge revival kit and also the black swatch of that dress with the fishnets and leg split from the carnival kit (idk how else to explain it but I hope u know the one I mean lol) Ive found cas kits to be really good
They should've made a game pack with all the items to build a castle and add small gameplay or things you can do in a castle idk, doesnt make a lot of sense to me to build the exterior of a castle if you can't do anything else...
If I understand correctly, I agree: kits should work in isolation - or in conjunction with the base game. Edit: Yes, kits just consisting of, say, beds is a great idea. It also works with my statement above. It could also be Kitchen Hardware (new stoves, fridges, microwaves etc.).
I would love to see #1 an Elderly kits/ game pack with crutches, canes, motorized scooter with game play and dentures etc. Also how about a musical kits with functional drums, harp, sax, flute just some other pieces besides the piano or guitar 😅
Or any kit honestly. Unless it ads gameplay you’ll easily find similar stuff, or better, online for free. Promoting the community and the relativity of creators.

The blooming rooms plant kit is one of my favorites and I think if paired with the greenhouse kit you can make for a really cool greenhouse or conservatory. A laundry kit would be cool. They could add more clothes hampers, laundry clutter, ECT.
Shit, I just want a nice dining room kit. I love building opulent Victorian and Edwardian builds (often with Gothic flavor), and I feel like I always end up building the same dining room over and over again because so much dining room stuff is more on the casual side imo. I want a long, oak 8-seat dining table. I want grand hutches with multiple swatches of fine china. I want more ornate rugs and arsenic-laced wallpaper to influence my ghost stories (Victorian homes were dangerous, y'all). I want more extravagant silverware and tea sets. I want stained glass windows. And more clothing that could suit these time periods would be nice. The Vampires clothing is fine and all, but I want hoop skirts. I want cravats. I want horse drawn carriages, especially now that we've got a horses pack. Let me pretend I'm in a Bronte, Dickens, or Elizabeth Gaskill novel PLEASE.
The first thing I thought of with the castle kit was "Ooo, I could build Malfoy Manor!" And that's... that's about all the game play I could see. If you have the magic pack you could do something with that.
I feel like with stuff packs back in the mix they really need to reevaluate what components should be in a kit. Also they need to consider how well the kit they are making fits in with the rest of the game and packs. I think players value versatility and usability over anything. I see your point with this video and I completely agree.

I love that since I bought the grunge kit, my teen can pick grunge deco on their highschool locker, and since the goth kit, they can pick goth deco. Not that it's all that, it's just a black cat sticker. But I'm always very happy to find the small details EA puts in their content.
Like goth galore could have been a great game pack or at least stuff pack, goth is more that just clothing, it’s hair, it’s music, it’s style… it’s basically the number one rule, you don’t need to dress goth, you just gotta listen to the music. I would have loved to have an option to start a goth band, have it come with more instruments like drums and a bass, have a goth bedroom, I know we have vampires but honestly most goths aren’t that intricate when it comes to home decor, but just some nice shabby chic black furniture
Agreed on the goth hair ,I'm one who doesn't always buy every pack and my sister well..she does and this was the one pack she had a common complaint which was where was the hair...they could of had so many opportunities especially knowing it was community voted
The pack im dying for is a storage kit. Please, for the love of god, give me a box or chest or SOMETHING i can put ANY inventory item in it. Any collectible, any pick-up-able object, any of it! I dont want to have to make an entire room to fit all the collectibles in it, or clog up my sims' inventory, just give me something i can stuff all of it into in a nice compact way.
The Castle Kit (imo) feels like it's lacking because it's only Build items. EA is trying to separate Build AND Buy with kits like that-- when you simply cannot do that, otherwise it will end up like what the Castle Kit is. But it's EA, they will milk you out however they can. People should really stop buying this shit. So many people complain and yet buy their stop. Just stop. Seriously. It's not like we can refund The Sim 4 content. The moment you buy any Sims 4 products EA does not care about what you think after.
I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if some of these kits are just left over assets, I just find it hard to believe these kits are fully fleshed out ideas when most of them hardly scratch the surface of the concept, like how’re you gonna make building a castle a kit with 10 things 😭

While I agree with a lot fo what you say, I think for a long time player, and let's face it, newcomers won't buy kits, Castle Estate for example is a perfect addition with the assets we have from Get Together (the world, the ruins, the medieval looking interior design) as well as Vampire (the furniture) and Realm of Magic (the medieval fantasy look) and Cottage living (need I say more about the cottagecore aesthetic?), so I'm quitte happy we get that kind of very specific assets too. Would I like to get more on this theme? yes! but I'm already very happy with what we got, I spent like 8 hours building this weekend and it got me excited again
Personally I love the castle kit but it only really works as a tie in with the European inspired worlds. Awesome for "historical site" type builds that could have been renovated into museums, a "new' vampire castle for Vlad, demolishing ALL of the builds from Realm of Magic and replacing that awful HQ building with something vaguely Hogwarts inspired? That being said the only thing you could really use it for in base game worlds would be either a Disneyland looking "theme park" or possibly a Cathedral
I will definitely use the Goth kit for my alternative sims. But realistically, the only reason to use the castle kit… maybe a castle wedding venue could be nice?
All you can do with the castle kit if you have the base game is build a faux-medieval castle and stock it with the more expensive furniture, creating the vibe of Victorians play-acting as medieval people.
When I saw the item count of the castle kit my jaw literally dropped. I feel like it’s a huge rip off compared to other kits that are borderline a rip off anyway. I’m just so sad that something as cool as castles was wasted on a kit. They could at the VERY least made it a Renaissance Fair Game Pack.
It's just a waste that in Sims 4 base game there are not really very outspoken styles to begin with. In comparison to Sims 2, you had some very different furniture styles in base game from the start, like more classic stuff, modern, asian, vintage/retro, countryside). And with the expansion packs and accessoire packs, you got even more styles and they were all very different or at least different enough to not be to same-y to other styles, and it mostly came as a full aesthetic package (as in furniture + walls + floors) so you could at least make a full room or building with it. On top of that, some styles can be fitted together without being to remarkable different, while in Sims 4 matching furniture can be a real nightmare since the have bad swatches (which I don't understand because it can't be to difficult to make at least a white, black and some wood swatches that match literally everything for almost every piece of furniture).
I used Felixandre's chateau CC to fill my castle, it was the only thing that really complemented the scale a castle should be, compared to the other existing sims content....
I would love if they did kits that were based off skills like the art easel or some kind of career???? Or like how cc creators do when they do sets so like decor to the max they could’ve done multiple parts??? This may be unpopular but I also like kits even though I’m on pc and could get cc. The thing is, cc is a bit hard to manage - you have to keep it really organized to know what’s what and where it’s installed in case it breaks. When I was younger I didn’t mind but now my time is more valuable so I’d rather just buy a kit then deal with free cc potentially breaking and having to hunt down where it is.
I'm a goth of 30 plus years (a romantic style of dress long floaty dresses and vamperic styles) . and I agree with you!! We need "goth hair styles" EA could of gone all out with a wild with an array of gothic styles even having iconic 1980s Batcave style crimped hair like the artists from, Siouxsie & the Banshees, the Cure for example, with bright neon streaks of red, green, white, purple hair. They're so many types of goths out there from Cyber, Vamperic, death rocker, Victorian, faerie , Trad, steam,Medieval, Romantic, theres so many variations of us etc but I'm sad to hear no new hairstyles with this kit ☠️
I think the closes thing we have to a bar kit would be the desert luxe kit, which is personally one of my favorites. I also really wish they chose the futuristic build kit because then at least I could use it with the star wars pack.

Even after this critical video I'd like to get Castle Kit to my game to build some not residential lot may be vacation rental or restaurant (that are broken by forRANT pack) so my sims can visit this lot anytime and rent it for a while
With all the hype EA drummed up about these packs, I was CONVINCED they were stuff packs, not kits. Players have voted for these, they want these themes, why not give us more ???
I like the castle designs but agree this is the rare time I'd like to see more. There's a lot of potential with them beyond the shell. Luckily there is a lot of CC available but it would be nice to have something new, ideally with a little gameplay too.
What i want to see are kits for cheap options already existing base game stuff like another version of the base game counters we’ve had for ages. like I don’t wanna be doing the challenges and having to use the same 50 simoleon counters. i want other options something realistic because realistically everybody can’t have the exact same counters
I would love to see a band kit with more instruments and the ability to play songs together with friends. I think for like a small in garage band it could be pretty cool. It would compliment get together with the dj-ing and clubs and highschool years/discover university age ranges story telling. There's even potential for family story game play like 'oh dad used to be in a band and taught his daughter and son how to play and now their a lil family band playing in the park or out of their garage' And it opens new future pack opportunities like traveling concerts or something that could be integrated with several other gameplay mechanics. Make being a politican an intuitive job where you have to go from place to place on stage and do campaigning, take get famous and allow celebrity talk show events bands can now perform on stage as well as solo singers and comedians. Frankly they could probably accomplish all of this in the kit if they just added a stage item and programmed different interactions exclusive to the packs. They could potentially pull all of these different things together and make the game so much more exciting with the introduction of 1 new item. The kit could include items like -The stage -drum kit (something I personally want very badly) -a new keyboard -floor screens (like the prompter things that sit at your feet) -lighting -curtains -backdrop (different swatches have like sparkles or news or solid color city lines, ocean view. Styles that work for concert story telling or other on stage recordings) -posters -wall decals -neon signs Introduce the play together mechanic.. with a group of friends click on one music object and select play together/practice together and it could bring up a menu for you to delegate who plays what. The stage object could have something similar like you click perform and it brings up a menu for you to decide what the stage is used for. Band stuff will open the menu to choose who plays what. If you choose comedy it'll ask you to select who is telling jokes, yourself or household members or friends or random Townes. Solo performance with the same sort of menu. Copy paste the hiring menu more or less and it's perfectly functional. For packs add interview for get famous. Speech for certain careers. Maybe a pet show for cats and dogs. Maybe it autofills what you need to do the event or maybe it gives you a furniture requirement for it or you can place whatever you want and the stage simply draws in a small crowd to witness. Hell, if your crazy you could just stick a double bed on it and have people watch you woo-hoo idk be weird lol maybe you gather all your ex's to see that you finally found the one or something. (Discllaimer I do not condone this behavior in real life but it's the fuckin sims, go wild) I can think of so many possibilities that could surround just the stage item that make it compatible with base game and a bunch of packs and even if it didn't do ALLLL of that, I can see simmers like me who just want a band moment paying money to have even just that n some new instruments.
The castle kit is literally pointless like yeah you can make a shell of a castle next to the landgraab modern monster or in the suburban basic willow creek But no gameplay matching the pack, no world to fit the castle in, no furniture, no nothing The courtyard oasis is done way better because it fits desert worlds, fits with some other furniture, is prettier, more stuff than the castle one etc

The medieval collection on The Sims Resource has loads of great BB stuff perfect for furnishing your castle. Not great for those who don't use CC though 😕
It’s a kit. It’s supposed to be small. All kits are rip-offs. This could have been a Castle Stuff Pack with some medieval CAS, buy and some small gameplay. Little Campers is the greatest kit because it also have some gameplay.
By the way lol, noticed in the last couple videos of yours i watched, you didnt know what the fence piece is called. Its crenulations. Machiculations would be if they added little holes underneath, having the whole thing stick out slightly over the top, to act like murder holes. But the fence piece itself is crenulations.

I don’t even touch EA games now unless they’re AAA n vetted by the community. The first year I stopped playing I was literally shook at how other developers treated the community. And how fair the price was for the amount of content you got. Pretty much every other gaming community speaks with their wallets. Maxis and EA are in their bag with simmers fr fr.

considering the option was castle kit vs futuristic (mind u i wouldve loved a futuristic one cause i think we have way more than enought stuff to build castles) theres way more fitting stuff for castle kit. we have outfits that fit into the entire medieval vibe from get famous, journey to batuu surprisingly, cottage living and some others. as for furniture theres a lot of stuff from all sorts of packs, maybe they don’t necessarily fit a castle but they work quite well all together

@gracerose4272 piracy is very common here because of the incredibly high prices. the eps are 200 BRL, it's insane. but I'm blessed enough to be able to afford the packs I want. I haven't bought a kit yet, though. I'm considering some of them but still reflecting if it's worth it or not. cc is definitely the best option.

All these kits, mostly, are ADDITION to all the billions of packs available. For example Castle kit kinda works if you have vampire pack, realm of magic, and get together. So you gotta buy those, you can't just own the castle kit and think you can do something with that alone. Oh no no. That's not how EA works. You gotta own all the packs to get almost full experience 😂 and mods to fix everything EA won't bother with 😅

Goth kit definitely needed hairstyles. It's not bad just not quite Goth. Needed the Lolita/school girl plaid skirt, garters, corsets etc.
The castle kit REALLY needed something to put inside. Thrones, knight stuff, fireplace with a giant cauldron on a hook to cook (not sure what it's called), tapestrys, etc. Just a few things for the inside. Now we need a medieval gamepack for clothes, gameplay, items - probably EA's idea! Maybe a Renaissance Faire stuff pack?
Shoulda called it an Alternative Kit and cover more of the genres. Scene, punk, emo, metal, goth, grunge, even juggalo maybe. Victorian, steampunk, theres so much variety
I really want decades kits. Clothing for all different eras. I mean big deal we can make a castle but what about the period clothing to go with it??? I'm hoping they will give us more somehow. Satch is so right, they put the cart before the horse. They should have had some sort of royalty pack and THEN add the little kit things to enhance it. Sigh, they are honestly so detached from the game.
Something I'm particularly surprised they've never done is like, more tools decorations. I was trying to decorate an American style garage recently with an area for the dad and realized there really aren't any ways to decorate for a sim who likes DIY or anything. You know, like those metal wall things for hanging tools on like hammers and saws and screwdrivers and stuff. They've added stuff like "hobbies", gaming decor like controllers and knitting decor and jewellery and all kinds of other stuff, but absolutely nothing for our handy Sims! I think a DIY'ers dream kit to go along with the handy skill and aspirations would make so much sense, and would kind of go along with your garden shed idea too, like a handy Sims garden shed!
A park kit could also give us slides for kids. Sadly the only one we have, not attached to a jungle gym or treehouse, is for toddlers.
The Castle kit reminds me of what happened with Oasis Courtyard, but worse: At least we have a few world to build castles in (Henford, Britechester, Windenburg, Forgotten Hollow...)
but this is the type of content that should have been released as an EP or SP to include CaS, BB and Gameplay.

I really like the Castle Estate Kit but I agree. I just finished furnishing one portion of the castle I built and I was trying really hard not to use cc, but I caved because Yes you can make the base game/get famous furniture work but the swatches are so off. I was trying to go with red and gold and there is no furniture in red and gold in the game. None of it comes in a proper royal blue swatch and maybe this is unpopular opinion but base game furniture looks like really old furniture (the aesthetic is off) ❤Not to mention the kitchen did not give regal at all. Realm of Magic counters worked but there are no top cupboards which makes zero sense. Vampires furniture as well is a bit too dark, grungy and eerie, perfect for a goth castle but not when you are trying to build something elegant and classic. Maybe I’m just picky but it was a struggle and still is because I’m still busy

Also it annoys me that there was no matching platform paint because to make grand staircases, platforms are important.
The castle and oasis both tragic cause this is an exact aesthetic that sims is missing and would be great to have, but such a kit is just so little but they also decrease the probability of having a proper game pack from them. I dont think oasis sold as much as backyard campers, yet a morroccan or casablanca gamepack would be so nice to have.
It's so true, kits need to be way more packed than what they are. We always end up with the same bathrooms, kitchens, regardless of the style of house, because there are just no options. It is ridiculous that this Castle kit just has walls and windows, what an insult lol. Today people work from home to build games, and this is the best Sims employees could come up with? Come on. Lol. Fans make better kits and gameplay for NOTHING.
I play the Royal Kingdom Challenge, originally for Sims 2, but I’ve adapted it for Sims 4. I’m very excited to build castles for my Royal and noble sims. I know this doesn’t come with any items, but Romantic Garden Stuff was just free, and it goes nicely with it, and there’s is a lot of base game furniture and decor that go well it castles. I’ve built a few castles without this kit, and they were missing the battlements and arrow slit windows (which I wish didn’t have glass) and a stone fence. I also love the new frieze. I also wish we had a new roof with the kit.
Country themed kits would be really cool. Objects that are typically in every house in that culture, so simmers can make houses that looks more like the ones they live in.
You make such a good point. I struggle making coherent builds in general, to be honest. I love each individual room, but they don't seem to belong together. Unless I'm always using the same furniture, which gets boring.
I agree with every other aspect, but when it comes to people wanting castles and royal gameplay like just play the Sims Medieval, it's a much better game overall anyway
You said something worth to mention. "It makes you want more". Yes! That's what a company should do. Makes you want more. In the previous the Sims installments you wanted more, not because you needed them but because the game was soooo good you wanted more so you could sunk your teeth deeper. Every the Sims 3 trailer-announcement was a mini heart attack. Every single pack was a success (not you Katy Perry-stuff packs). You watched the trailer and you knew you'd be getting what you saw plus a ton more.
The Shit 4 on the other hand makes you want more cause you need more. There's nothing to do, the features are just scratched surface (if you're lucky enough and they work), implemented poorly, it has no ambition, no vision, it's just things thrown on the wall to see what sticks. What was a minor feature in a huge ep in previous Sims games, is now an upsold pack in the Shit 4.
I could give a ton of examples but to me Get Famous is a great one. Yes the fame system is addicting but...
a) The World is small af
b) The celebrity system is immersion breaking. Celebrities will come at your world and knock on your door casually.
c) Only 1 active career which is boring af. You literally just click here and there and voila. Done with the day.
d) Missed opportunities to implement the music industry. You can't be a singer, record your music on a studio, promote them, go do lives or on a "tour".
Another huge miss is Island Living.
a) No hotels
b) No open sea
c) No underwater
d) Lackluster mermaids
e) No sea sports

They take previous games of the Sims, 2 and 3 and tear them apart to pieces, making you need to buy more so you can have something to play with. You can't possibly tell me that Horse Ranch couldn't be in Cats & Dogs (Pets)... And yeah yeah you going to tell me "Hey Cats & Dogs aren't in the theme of Ranch" and I'm asking you. You think that a Ranch theme is more important than a full, fullfilling gameplay?
What did this 40$ pack offer? Horse CAS and animations, gameplay with Horses that is just animations, riding a horse to nowhere since the world is closed, the races are a rabbit hole, the new ranch pets are ripped straight from Cottage Living, the wine making is straight out of Eco Lifestyle, the ranch handyman whatever they're called is straight from Vintage Glamor and just like the buttler, that mf ain't working... Where is the innovation?
People seem to love Growing Together but why? It should've been in base game. It literally added almost nothing worth of 40$. You can't persuade me otherwise.
I think the pool ladder got added later when the sims finally added pools to the base game months after release. However, you need Get Together if you want your sims to have a diving board.
I also agree the downfall of the goth kit was the lack of hair I do enjoy the rest of it n the different swatches r quite nice I also really like the pastel options bc it makes it easier to make a real pastel goth I think the confusion comes from the fact that there are many different subcultures within the gothic style so there are different types and styles of goth and over the years these have adapted and changed the kit on its own with just the base game is alot less flexible flexible but let's be real here I think we've all bowed down to daddy capitalism and have a couple other kits n packs 😂 it works really well with the grunge revival kit and also the black swatch of that dress with the fishnets and leg split from the carnival kit (idk how else to explain it but I hope u know the one I mean lol) Ive found cas kits to be really good
The key word for most Sims 4 game packs, expansion packs, kits, etc., is "Underwhelming " (in my opinion).
The whole game, with all packs installed, is still underwhelming because the gameplay is hollow and boring.
EA should Hire CC creators
With the park kit, imagine a merry-go-round, seesaws, a massive swing set that holds more than 2 swings and swings for toddlers/infants!
They should've made a game pack with all the items to build a castle and add small gameplay or things you can do in a castle idk, doesnt make a lot of sense to me to build the exterior of a castle if you can't do anything else...
If I understand correctly, I agree: kits should work in isolation - or in conjunction with the base game.
Edit: Yes, kits just consisting of, say, beds is a great idea. It also works with my statement above. It could also be Kitchen Hardware (new stoves, fridges, microwaves etc.).
I would love to see #1 an Elderly kits/ game pack with crutches, canes, motorized scooter with game play and dentures etc. Also how about a musical kits with functional drums, harp, sax, flute just some other pieces besides the piano or guitar 😅

The blooming rooms plant kit is one of my favorites and I think if paired with the greenhouse kit you can make for a really cool greenhouse or conservatory.
A laundry kit would be cool. They could add more clothes hampers, laundry clutter, ECT.

Shit, I just want a nice dining room kit. I love building opulent Victorian and Edwardian builds (often with Gothic flavor), and I feel like I always end up building the same dining room over and over again because so much dining room stuff is more on the casual side imo. I want a long, oak 8-seat dining table. I want grand hutches with multiple swatches of fine china. I want more ornate rugs and arsenic-laced wallpaper to influence my ghost stories (Victorian homes were dangerous, y'all). I want more extravagant silverware and tea sets. I want stained glass windows. And more clothing that could suit these time periods would be nice. The Vampires clothing is fine and all, but I want hoop skirts. I want cravats. I want horse drawn carriages, especially now that we've got a horses pack. Let me pretend I'm in a Bronte, Dickens, or Elizabeth Gaskill novel PLEASE.
The first thing I thought of with the castle kit was "Ooo, I could build Malfoy Manor!" And that's... that's about all the game play I could see. If you have the magic pack you could do something with that.
I feel like with stuff packs back in the mix they really need to reevaluate what components should be in a kit. Also they need to consider how well the kit they are making fits in with the rest of the game and packs. I think players value versatility and usability over anything. I see your point with this video and I completely agree.

I love that since I bought the grunge kit, my teen can pick grunge deco on their highschool locker, and since the goth kit, they can pick goth deco.
Not that it's all that, it's just a black cat sticker. But I'm always very happy to find the small details EA puts in their content.

Like goth galore could have been a great game pack or at least stuff pack, goth is more that just clothing, it’s hair, it’s music, it’s style… it’s basically the number one rule, you don’t need to dress goth, you just gotta listen to the music. I would have loved to have an option to start a goth band, have it come with more instruments like drums and a bass, have a goth bedroom, I know we have vampires but honestly most goths aren’t that intricate when it comes to home decor, but just some nice shabby chic black furniture

The pack im dying for is a storage kit. Please, for the love of god, give me a box or chest or SOMETHING i can put ANY inventory item in it. Any collectible, any pick-up-able object, any of it! I dont want to have to make an entire room to fit all the collectibles in it, or clog up my sims' inventory, just give me something i can stuff all of it into in a nice compact way.
The Castle Kit (imo) feels like it's lacking because it's only Build items. EA is trying to separate Build AND Buy with kits like that-- when you simply cannot do that, otherwise it will end up like what the Castle Kit is. But it's EA, they will milk you out however they can. People should really stop buying this shit. So many people complain and yet buy their stop. Just stop. Seriously. It's not like we can refund The Sim 4 content. The moment you buy any Sims 4 products EA does not care about what you think after.
I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if some of these kits are just left over assets, I just find it hard to believe these kits are fully fleshed out ideas when most of them hardly scratch the surface of the concept, like how’re you gonna make building a castle a kit with 10 things 😭

While I agree with a lot fo what you say, I think for a long time player, and let's face it, newcomers won't buy kits, Castle Estate for example is a perfect addition with the assets we have from Get Together (the world, the ruins, the medieval looking interior design) as well as Vampire (the furniture) and Realm of Magic (the medieval fantasy look) and Cottage living (need I say more about the cottagecore aesthetic?), so I'm quitte happy we get that kind of very specific assets too. Would I like to get more on this theme? yes! but I'm already very happy with what we got, I spent like 8 hours building this weekend and it got me excited again
Personally I love the castle kit but it only really works as a tie in with the European inspired worlds. Awesome for "historical site" type builds that could have been renovated into museums, a "new' vampire castle for Vlad, demolishing ALL of the builds from Realm of Magic and replacing that awful HQ building with something vaguely Hogwarts inspired?
That being said the only thing you could really use it for in base game worlds would be either a Disneyland looking "theme park" or possibly a Cathedral
Construction/woodworking would be a good stuff back.

All you can do with the castle kit if you have the base game is build a faux-medieval castle and stock it with the more expensive furniture, creating the vibe of Victorians play-acting as medieval people.
When I saw the item count of the castle kit my jaw literally dropped. I feel like it’s a huge rip off compared to other kits that are borderline a rip off anyway. I’m just so sad that something as cool as castles was wasted on a kit. They could at the VERY least made it a Renaissance Fair Game Pack.

Think sims are affriad to adventure outside the box, so to speak. When it comes to content they are making now,They play way too safe.
It's just a waste that in Sims 4 base game there are not really very outspoken styles to begin with. In comparison to Sims 2, you had some very different furniture styles in base game from the start, like more classic stuff, modern, asian, vintage/retro, countryside).
And with the expansion packs and accessoire packs, you got even more styles and they were all very different or at least different enough to not be to same-y to other styles, and it mostly came as a full aesthetic package (as in furniture + walls + floors) so you could at least make a full room or building with it. On top of that, some styles can be fitted together without being to remarkable different, while in Sims 4 matching furniture can be a real nightmare since the have bad swatches (which I don't understand because it can't be to difficult to make at least a white, black and some wood swatches that match literally everything for almost every piece of furniture).
I used Felixandre's chateau CC to fill my castle, it was the only thing that really complemented the scale a castle should be, compared to the other existing sims content....
I would love if they did kits that were based off skills like the art easel or some kind of career???? Or like how cc creators do when they do sets so like decor to the max they could’ve done multiple parts??? This may be unpopular but I also like kits even though I’m on pc and could get cc. The thing is, cc is a bit hard to manage - you have to keep it really organized to know what’s what and where it’s installed in case it breaks. When I was younger I didn’t mind but now my time is more valuable so I’d rather just buy a kit then deal with free cc potentially breaking and having to hunt down where it is.
I'll stick to sims medieval if I want to play in a castle on the sims.
I'm a goth of 30 plus years (a romantic style of dress long floaty dresses and vamperic styles) . and I agree with you!! We need "goth hair styles" EA could of gone all out with a wild with an array of gothic styles even having iconic 1980s Batcave style crimped hair like the artists from, Siouxsie & the Banshees, the Cure for example, with bright neon streaks of red, green, white, purple hair. They're so many types of goths out there from Cyber, Vamperic, death rocker, Victorian, faerie , Trad, steam,Medieval, Romantic, theres so many variations of us etc but I'm sad to hear no new hairstyles with this kit ☠️
I think the closes thing we have to a bar kit would be the desert luxe kit, which is personally one of my favorites. I also really wish they chose the futuristic build kit because then at least I could use it with the star wars pack.

Even after this critical video I'd like to get Castle Kit to my game to build some not residential lot may be vacation rental or restaurant (that are broken by forRANT pack) so my sims can visit this lot anytime and rent it for a while
With all the hype EA drummed up about these packs, I was CONVINCED they were stuff packs, not kits. Players have voted for these, they want these themes, why not give us more ???
I like the castle designs but agree this is the rare time I'd like to see more. There's a lot of potential with them beyond the shell. Luckily there is a lot of CC available but it would be nice to have something new, ideally with a little gameplay too.
What i want to see are kits for cheap options already existing base game stuff like another version of the base game counters we’ve had for ages. like I don’t wanna be doing the challenges and having to use the same 50 simoleon counters. i want other options something realistic because realistically everybody can’t have the exact same counters
I would love to see a band kit with more instruments and the ability to play songs together with friends. I think for like a small in garage band it could be pretty cool. It would compliment get together with the dj-ing and clubs and highschool years/discover university age ranges story telling. There's even potential for family story game play like 'oh dad used to be in a band and taught his daughter and son how to play and now their a lil family band playing in the park or out of their garage' And it opens new future pack opportunities like traveling concerts or something that could be integrated with several other gameplay mechanics. Make being a politican an intuitive job where you have to go from place to place on stage and do campaigning, take get famous and allow celebrity talk show events bands can now perform on stage as well as solo singers and comedians. Frankly they could probably accomplish all of this in the kit if they just added a stage item and programmed different interactions exclusive to the packs. They could potentially pull all of these different things together and make the game so much more exciting with the introduction of 1 new item.
The kit could include items like
-The stage
-drum kit (something I personally want very badly)
-a new keyboard
-floor screens (like the prompter things that sit at your feet)
-lighting
-curtains
-backdrop (different swatches have like sparkles or news or solid color city lines, ocean view. Styles that work for concert story telling or other on stage recordings)
-posters
-wall decals
-neon signs
Introduce the play together mechanic.. with a group of friends click on one music object and select play together/practice together and it could bring up a menu for you to delegate who plays what.
The stage object could have something similar like you click perform and it brings up a menu for you to decide what the stage is used for. Band stuff will open the menu to choose who plays what. If you choose comedy it'll ask you to select who is telling jokes, yourself or household members or friends or random Townes. Solo performance with the same sort of menu. Copy paste the hiring menu more or less and it's perfectly functional. For packs add interview for get famous. Speech for certain careers. Maybe a pet show for cats and dogs.
Maybe it autofills what you need to do the event or maybe it gives you a furniture requirement for it or you can place whatever you want and the stage simply draws in a small crowd to witness. Hell, if your crazy you could just stick a double bed on it and have people watch you woo-hoo idk be weird lol maybe you gather all your ex's to see that you finally found the one or something. (Discllaimer I do not condone this behavior in real life but it's the fuckin sims, go wild)
I can think of so many possibilities that could surround just the stage item that make it compatible with base game and a bunch of packs and even if it didn't do ALLLL of that, I can see simmers like me who just want a band moment paying money to have even just that n some new instruments.

I like kits too and they are just a small pack, I just wish they would do something we want with some kits or stuff packs.

The castle kit is literally pointless like yeah you can make a shell of a castle next to the landgraab modern monster or in the suburban basic willow creek
But no gameplay matching the pack, no world to fit the castle in, no furniture, no nothing
The courtyard oasis is done way better because it fits desert worlds, fits with some other furniture, is prettier, more stuff than the castle one etc
Imma sound like an old lady, but back in my day an expansion pack droppin' was an event. Idk why it isn't like this anymore and we're all cool with it.
The medieval collection on The Sims Resource has loads of great BB stuff perfect for furnishing your castle. Not great for those who don't use CC though 😕

It’s a kit. It’s supposed to be small. All kits are rip-offs. This could have been a Castle Stuff Pack with some medieval CAS, buy and some small gameplay. Little Campers is the greatest kit because it also have some gameplay.

By the way lol, noticed in the last couple videos of yours i watched, you didnt know what the fence piece is called. Its crenulations. Machiculations would be if they added little holes underneath, having the whole thing stick out slightly over the top, to act like murder holes. But the fence piece itself is crenulations.
Better yet. Where are we supposed build a castle? MtKomorabi, Strangeville, Moonwood Mill, Oasis, Tomarang? lol

Ikr. literally nothing has changed n people so shocked that ea won’t listen to them even tho they keep in buyin. I used to play Sims almost exclusively. I don’t even touch EA games now unless they’re AAA n vetted by the community. The first year I stopped playing I was literally shook at how other developers treated the community. And how fair the price was for the amount of content you got. Pretty much every other gaming community speaks with their wallets. Maxis and EA are in their bag with simmers fr fr.
