I think the "My brother, I'm still sorry" part isn't just about people who did you wrong, but also people you did wrong. You are never gonna be the perfect on in every relationship break. Maybe you just were not there enough or didn't try enough in a relationship and, looking back, you realize YOU were selfish.
Yeah, that's the sad truth, that's why I love the song Green by Cavetown, it perfectly puts the fact that we can all and do all do wrong, but that's okay, because we can still try to do good💚

"And some I had to leave behind, my brother, I'm still sorry" - what he meant was that some of his friends had got shot coz thats the kind of neighborhood he lived in....
