I'm actually at home in tears, and I didn't even seek out this video, it just came up on my feed. I can't even imagine how I'd be seeing this in person

when he starts singing again at 2:41 it makes me so emotional because the people you're friends with in your school days you don't always keep in touch with a lot of the people that were your friends
Skylar S I often wonder what happened to some of my childhood friends. Where are they today? Are they happy and successful? Are they even still alive? That's why I like FB, because a lot of times you are able to track childhood friends down and reconnect. But if they're not on FB, then it's very difficult to find anything out about them. I had a lot of really strong childhood friendships. I spent all of elementary, junior high (as it used to be called) and high school with the same group of kids, because we all lived in the same area in the same neighborhood. You literally grow up together. Then it becomes difficult when they start to move away or go away to college. 13 years together with the same kids. I guess that's why people attend their high school and college reunions...to reconnect. Good times and great memories from my childhood school days. ♥️
@@maryryanroman2399 I wish I spent more time making powerful memories instead of what I did that last 5 years. I'm now 17, but I have been thinking alot about life recently. I cannot agree any more with your beautiful comment. It's true what you said. All of it. You should hear Ed Sheeran's "Castle on the Hill". It's a song that deals with exactly that.
Extraterrestrial Horse I'm glad my words really mean something to you. I had a great childhood, had lots of really good friends, and I miss those days a lot. And when you're growing up and enjoying your classmates, who are also your friends, you don't realise how important they end up being one day. You don't think about it during that time, and take it for granted. It's years later, after everyone has moved away, that you realise how valuable they are and how much you miss them. It's not common for someone as young as you to realise this at just 17 years old. You must be an old soul. All I can say is, value your friends and make a real effort to keep in touch after high school with the ones who really mean something to you. You are fortunate, because with today's technology, it's extremely easy now to keep in touch. Lastly, enjoy every minute of your youth, because it goes by mighty fast. I did listen to Ed Sheeran's song, " Castle on the Hill". You are right...it is exactly about those wonderful childhood moments we all end up missing dearly.
Skylar S bro I know right I’m barely gonna enter my sophomore year and it’s crazy to think that in 2 more years my friend group won’t be completely together
My 50th high school reunion is this year 🤔🤦♀️. 🤔🤔 I’m wondering if there are even a dozen of us left?🤦♀️🤔. There were over 500 in my graduating class
Yeaaah... I just turned 30 last week. The night before my birthday I sat in my car for 2 hours and just had flashbacks of the last 10 years of my life. Thinking about all the good, the bad, the ugly. It's been a rush.
It's so hard to think that after we graduate, half of our friends, we won't ever see again. All this work and strain we went through together, and we just lose it. Nothing but memories.
I haven't talked to a single friend from high school since the day after graduation. They all went off to SDSU or some other college out of state. It's really sad honestly, I hung out with them everyday for 4 years and now nothing
I really hate it when some people give a standing ovation only to fit in. It is something you do when unable to do anything else you stand up and give a round of applause from your heart.

The lyrics tore straight to my core. I just graduated high school in 2020 and my graduation got pushed back multiple months to the point I wasn’t sure I would have it. We did in the end, and this video just encapsulates what high school is all about. You’re forced to be around people you wouldn’t normally be, but you learn from each other and grow together. He reminds me of my eldest son (though my son is only in year 7) I see how my son will be when he graduates 🎓 amazing voice and I love how he changed the words to suit his life!!! Amazzzing!!!
As the momma of a 20 and 18 year old, this had me bawling like a baby!!! I have watched this video so many times, it’s ridiculous. My daughter will be a senior this year and I am not even looking forward to it!!! Time goes by so unbelievably fast.
WOW! I wish the sound quality had been better but once I turned it up I could hear the words. What an amazing job by this young man, and such a beautiful voice. I noticed too that there didn't seem to be a lot of dry eyes on stage - nor my own. Brilliantly done, Mr. Wallace!
I dreamed of walking across the stage and getting my High School Diploma. Unfortunately life had different plans for me. I had to drop out in my junior year. About a year to a year and a half later I got my GED. But my scores weren’t high enough to get into the university I wanted to go to, so I have to go back to take it again. I’m 20 years old. My mother tells me to go to a community college for a year or two then try and transfer. The thing is if I do that then I’ll be setting the bar too low for my own expectations. I need to push myself to do better. I never had it easy growing up. All my friends would say differently(except for one or two I let in) because I put up a wall and made my life seem great to everyone else. I have ADHD. Most people think that ADHD is just an excuse or not real or whatever. But I can tell you that it’s a real struggle for me. I also have MDD and BD. I’ve struggled in school and growing up. No one really understood me, and that made everything worse. On top of the fact that one of my High School teachers said something that will stick with me forever. “You will most likely never amount to anything. You can try and try but some just aren’t meant to make it anywhere”. That was a real punch in the gut. But one thing I was so determined to achieve was getting my High School Diploma. I never planned on going to college. But some part of me feels empty, and that started when I dropped out. I had no choice but to drop out by the way. I kept changing schools in two different counties, I was homeless for months. The schools kept messing up my credits, some were “lost” and some just disappeared. So instead of repeating everything over and over I left. I hope that void I feel will be filled eventually. I plan I going to college to get my Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice. Don’t know what I’ll do after that, but I’ll figure it out one way or another. I just know that it’s going to be a nonstop struggle for me for the next 4-5 years. If I ever make it back here I want to tell my future self something. Life may suck right now, but look how far you have come. Do not give up. Keep your head up and focus on yourself. If anyone tries to tell you that you can’t make it don’t ignore them. Look them in the eyes and tell them everything you have gone through. Tell them the struggles you have faced along the way. Tell them how you didn’t quit, or feel sorry for yourself, tell them how you kept moving forward and how you’ve overcome every obstacle you hit. You can do this. Just believe in yourself.
I think the professor on the right really felt it. The feeling of waiting for graduation but then when the time comes realising what they are leaving behind. And thinking how they should have lived it more and take everything from it - but you did. This will stay in memories, time will go by. But we need to enjoy the moment. These moments when we realise something is come to an end we also realise how we should have live the time and enjoy it the fullest. You will be great.
This young man shows what kind of products this school puts out. Wonderful job. This is amazing/emotional and parents and school should be very proud. Such poise. 👍
This is amazing and beautiful. Some of those teachers were so proud. They actually cared and actually teach and for them to see this young man do this was heartfelt for some of them

I just realized ima be a senior this year. And just saw all the memories fly by like it was a gust of wind. Life is so short, make the best of it.
Yeah time really does fly. Today was my last day of senior year. It’s not what we really expected it to be but it still feels like an accomplishment. I really hope you and your fellow classmates have the BEST senior experience possible!
😢😢😢😢😢😢😢

-R.J. Palcio
My first standing ovation really boosted my confidence because I felt like someone liked my music
Wow. Why is this not played for every graduation? Amazing!!! I still have chills
It's crazy watching all the older gentlemen sitting behind him fighting back tears cause they all felt these words at their ages
Where's the tissues? I'm in tears. Great job! It does make you wonder where time goes. Always cherish those youthful years & friends in school.
Michelle Cox Yes!! And I do!!

Yes sir, imagine him watching this video today in 2024. Man, life is too short to waste time living a single day with a frown. Smile brother, be happy like you were when you were 7 years old. Big hug Brazil. 😃

THIS SONG MAKES ME EMOTIONAL EVERYTIME I WATCH IT
I really love this version 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Wow! Just...wow! Absolutely perfect. I could listen to his voice all day, everyday. Sign him up! I can't wait to hear what else he does.
I hope Lukas graham sees this ❤️❤️
He reminds me of my eldest son (though my son is only in year 7) I see how my son will be when he graduates 🎓 amazing voice and I love how he changed the words to suit his life!!! Amazzzing!!!
As the momma of a 20 and 18 year old, this had me bawling like a baby!!! I have watched this video so many times, it’s ridiculous. My daughter will be a senior this year and I am not even looking forward to it!!! Time goes by so unbelievably fast.
What a voice! Wow!!!
The lyrics really hits home hard… I can recall the mixture of emotions when I graduated myself…
As a graduating senior for the 2023 school year and graduating early I can relate to this but this literally gave me chills I cried
It's actually like i will cry it was so touching🤧i'm in senior yr this year and it's really touching to see what he has done with the song
This video will forever be touching!
Just amazing. I’m sure this young man has gone on to do beautiful things. I just watched this 4 times. Fantastic.
He died in a car accident 3 years ago unfortunately.
acc?
What a wonderful rendition J.P. Wallace!!❤❤🎉🎉
WOW! I wish the sound quality had been better but once I turned it up I could hear the words. What an amazing job by this young man, and such a beautiful voice. I noticed too that there didn't seem to be a lot of dry eyes on stage - nor my own. Brilliantly done, Mr. Wallace!
Beautiful, he changed some of the lyrics to make it original, good job.
I love how i am listening to this 7 years later
I just found this… many years later! AWESOME! So proud of him and I got teary eyed. Amazing young man!
Thanks for the memories..... Great song! Great voice and love the rewording of this song....
Hard!! This kid appreciated it in the moment. Wise beyond his years. Enjoy life and look for the good in everything, you only get one life to live!
I feel so happy for him that he had such a good high school experience. Mine was awful, 20 years ago almost.
Same, I absolutely hated high school
@@TheMajesticKnight mine I wasn’t having friends
Can we be friends if you don’t mind?
When you look back at life it seems like it went so fast but when you look at the future it takes a long time to get there
Gabriel Douglas stg..I was just thinking on this the other day
I think of few of the educators were getting in their feels. He did a wonderful job. Nice & smooth.
This young man shows what kind of products this school puts out. Wonderful job. This is amazing/emotional and parents and school should be very proud. Such poise. 👍
That kid was AWESOME! Made me cry! God Bless🙏🌟Thank you! He should be making albums by now!🤗Wow!
why did this actually make me cry? i want the studio version but now its 6 years later. i would have cried if i was in that graduating class.
I know this is old, but this is my new favourite video, ever. Wish I was there to witness this!
It's 2024..This Song Carrying me when I lesson 🥺
This is not a song..This is magic 🎉
This is amazing and beautiful. Some of those teachers were so proud. They actually cared and actually teach and for them to see this young man do this was heartfelt for some of them
I'm not crying. You're crying😭😭
Great voice man! Nothing better than going on stage nervous as fuck then you see a friend/fam member and it just brings you out your shell and you just feel weight lifted off you. Support is key man. We noticed how comfortable you were when you seen someone u know.
