I got a 100ah 830A Varta and it says it's H3. That is the battery that came up in the parts catalogue for my car (e39 540i). How does H3 fare against H8 or H9?
The battery contains potentially hazardous gases that cannot infiltrate the cabin. A battery vent tube is attached to the battery so it can expel those gases out into the open air away from the car.

What is that grey tube with the black thing that connects to the side of the battery? I just bought a 350i 2002. Went to take out the battery but that black thing is missing so wasn’t connected.
That’s a vent tube. Battery gases are very dangerous to breath if they make their way into the cabin and they can also be explosive P.D: Do you mean a 530i 2002, not a 350i, right?

The eye on that battery is green, which indicates that battery is GOOD, that battery did not need to be replaced, it needs to be charged

I forgot saying that the opposing vent opening on the battery cover must be plugged with the included plastic vent hole plug.

No it isn’t. Connect the new battery in the reverse order, positive then negative.
