Had a fun day packrafting in my Kokopelli rogue lite packraft. Did a bunch of fishing for brook trout and had a great little cook up.
Packrafting is basically a combination of backpacking and rafting, but people also use other modes of transportation, such as mountain bikes, to access lakes and rivers. Gear and clothing for packrafting: A raft, pump, paddle and PFD are the core essentials.
The brook trout (Salvelinus fontinalis) is a species of freshwater fish in the char genus Salvelinus of the salmon family Salmonidae. It is native to Eastern North America in the United States and Canada, but has been introduced elsewhere in North America, as well as to Iceland, Europe, and Asia. In parts of its range, it is also known as the eastern brook trout, speckled trout, brook charr, squaretail, or mud trout, among others.[3] A potamodromous population in Lake Superior, as well as an anadromous population in Maine, is known as coaster trout or, simply, as coasters. The brook trout is the state fish of nine U.S. states: Michigan, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Vermont, Virginia, and West Virginia, and the Provincial Fish of Nova Scotia in Canada.

Hey guys, sorry about the wind early on in this one. The wind drops out after a bit... Hope you enjoy and lots more videos coming ! Thanks for the continued support ! www.patreon.com/13prevailbushcraft
I'm surprised there weren't many flies.. you certainly are advertising the great lifestyle and benefits of living in Newfoundland. Great video again..
The flies came out a little bit once the wind died out but they weren't too bad. Thanks for watching !

Like that packraft you got there. Sure beats walking around the shores
Yes sir!
.........Nice trout. I really like your catch and cook vids......I also really enjoy the fly rod fishing too when you get a chance.....Drone footage was great.....Keep on fishing and take care....
Thanks Greg !
That was what I’d call a damn good day !! Fresh air, fresh trout, and a fire to cook on ! Funny how the simplest things can make such a great day ! Loved it as a kid and means even more to me now !! Take care T
Great video. Nice drone shots. Thanks for sharing
Thanks Diane !
Great vid brother keep em coming. Rafts holdin up nice 👍
Thanks buddy !
Awesome location for your catch and cook.. enjoyed the video..
Thanks Todd !
Great job Troy....as good as it gets....stay safe:)
Thanks buddy !
Awesome video! I hope you will ride the quad as much as possible. I hate people ranting about only having 1000Km on there machine and its 4/5 years old. Why buy a machine just to store it in a garage? Enjoy it, drive it, discover new territory. That's what these machines are meant to do. Cheers my friend 👍
100%, I'm driving it all the time !
Nice looking shore lunch Troy. Enjoy while you can. the black flies will be after you soon. They have struck here with a vengeance. Later buddy and all the best.
Few mosquitoes on the go but no black flies yet. Any day I'm sure !
Awesome
Highlight of the evening relaxation Troy. Man you were at a beautiful spot there. We totally respect your thoughts on fires and the COVID regulations. Good on ya ! Gotta say we really enjoy the drone overhead footage. We miss when you intro with "Hey guys 13 Prevail here".....
Thanks Fred and Dean !
Nice relaxing trip
Thanks bud !
My combo is Alpacka Explorer raft and Yamaha WR250R dualsport. Man, have I had some great trips, going brookie fishing tomorrow.
Awesome !
Such a beautiful place for a fish and three for the pan is awesome. Beautiful drone footage too. Fried fish looked delicious. 👍
Thank you !
Drone footage of reflection off water couldn't have been done better with CGI, great job.
Wow, what a spot to stop for a lunch...Nice!
Thanks for watching !
Man what a beautiful area, I'd have to drive half a day to find something like that, you lucky dog!
Lots of places like this in my area...All within a few minutes...
Now that looks like a large day Troy. Awesome drone footage. All the best and God bless
Thanks Terry !
Awesome job bringing them in & Putting them in the pan ! Great Vid & Drone footage, Troy. ATB T&M God Bless

Thanks a lot, buddy !
Good day right there. 👊💀

13 PB Very cool video Troy, what a way to get there with a light pack raft. Beautiful brook trout in gorgeous surroundings, can’t freakin beat that!! .
Crazy how that one adjustment of removing the spinner made the difference, start calling you the trout whisperer. Another entertaining segment my friend, be looking forward to your next notification. ✌️, thanks my friend, Rob.
Thanks buddy. The trout aren't really biting much just yet. Soon hopefully !
Not many fish on the go yet eh Troy, guess with all the runoff the water has a chill in it and slows them down, same out here. Can't get to cabin yet because of the snow! Great vid nice to get out in country for a cookup........take care!
Not biting at all. Frustrating for sure. At least I got a few for a meal but took a lot of work to get them lol...
Grab a hand full or 2 or leaves , fire them in the run , put your line right behind , or ever in front . right where the run and the brook meet !!keep your line and the leaves fairly close . Fish on !!!! Smolt at 630 ???? Oh to be on a pond !! Catchin trout , and a big mug up !!!
Thanks for the tip !
@@13prevailbushcraft , when I was a little kid , the man across the road from my grandmother , became like a grandfather to me . fastest Mug up man in the world !!!!! Fished with a bamboo . was 13 ft long , he called it Sudden Death !!! Learned to love troutin from him , the leaves trick was his , and never failed us !!! I am 60 now , and he has been gone many years , but he gets to go troutin every year , in my heart & memory !!
At least you caught a couple fish to cook over the open fire. Drone footage was great
Thanks Jo !
👍😃✌️
You should have stayed overnight Troy nice day for it!
I know, I messed up ! It was a beauty evening...
another great video buddy lookin forward to next one take care
Thanks Leslie !
I LOVED this video! Man.....I need to hit the streams and lakes near here for some fresh trout now!
Thanks a lot, Sean !
Absolutely beautiful area where you were Troy
Thanks Colin !
Great video buddy, trout looked great ! Also awesome drone shots !
Thanks buddy !
🎣👍🤠
Hey man. Good video. I live in central NL. Ordered a Kokopelli Rogue spraydeck a couple of weeks ago. Hoping to get it in the mail next week. Can’t wait to do some overnight backcountry fishing trips with the raft. Already have a few spots in mind to go that I haven’t been able to fish with a boat before.
Thats awesome man, I'm an affiliate for Kokopelli and they are updating their affiliate program. I may have been able to get you a percentage off. Keep it in mind if you know anyone ordering one in the future. Thanks for watching !
Huge fan of the drone footages. Your drone is very good quality.
Second channel coming soon. Prevail Drones !
@@13prevailbushcraft awesome idea.
Nice Troy ! Really great to see you out man ! Those little trout are tasty for sure. Glad your not over doing it with the drone footage. It’s cool but a lot of people over do it and it takes away from the overall experience and “feel” of the video. I think folks enjoy more of what your actually doing, fishing, cooking, things like that ! Awesome man ! Hope your well ! Cheers !
Thanks buddy, I like to add a little drone footage here and there for sure. I may start a second channel just for drone footage. Then people who really enjoy that stuff can go over to my second channel to watch. At least that way, I wont feel like I need to saturate these videos with it.
13prevail Bushcraft That’s awesome ! Great idea man ! Thanks for sharing,Cheers
Troy I'm not knockin ya but..... I have had way too many bad experiences with inflatables. Underwater obstacles,Hook's and even the fish you catch can sink your boat. Glad you are having a great time tho.
Thanks John !
We're going to our cabin and I'm hoping to catch a perch bass or rainbow
Awesome, buddy !
Troy Great video as always. Now why do I recognize that very Spot I wonder? LOL
Im sure you've flicked a hook in that area once or twice lol...
how are you liking the boat? im thinking of getting the same one. if i do i'll get the 9" skeg they sell to mount for better tracking, at least when i hit larger lakes. although if i fish weedy areas it will get all munged up...... tradeoffs.... cool video -- thanks for sharing
I love my rogue lite ! No complaints.
if anyone wants to know what 'keep your head on a swivel' looks like, well here ya go! Great video, I am guessing you were watching for bear! Stupid question, you have anything to scare them off on you? Thanks for the channel!
Not worried about bears in this area. Never ever heard of one being around here. I need to drive an hour to get to my bear bait. But yes I usually carry bear spray if I'm concerned...
@@13prevailbushcraft thanks for responding!
Some nice done pics , how do you like the raft is it hard on the back been thinking about one for my quad
Man those rafts are so comfy ! And that's coming from someone who's had a history of back issues !
@@13prevailbushcraft Ya yup I know of back injuries all right ! ive tried a couple kayaks not enough back support ill half to find someone that's one lol
Was looking at buying a kayak or a rubber dingy of some type for fishing/camping out here in central. The dingy seemed more portable but I didn't think I needed something as rugged as the raft used by our mutual friend Justin Barbour. I know from chatting to Justin you have seen his raft, how would you compare the Kokopelli Rogue? Will it hold up for a few seasons do you figure?
Absolutely ! The specific one I have is for lightweight backpacking so it only weighs half of Justin's raft, but therefore it's not as durable. But definitely tough enough for what I need.
Troy where are you seeing 5m from the bush law? All I see when I google it on gov pages is all camp fires are prohibited unless 300m from forest unless csa approved fire pits and it’s got me bummed to not be aloud to have open fires on the beach
Government website...
During the forest fire season a person may light Open or Outdoor Fires on forest land or within 300 metres of forest land without a Permit to Burn under the following conditions.
The fire is in a prepared location in a provincial, national, municipal or private park that has facilities to contain open pit fires.
The fire is on a sand or gravel beach or quarry, and is located at a distance of not less than 15 metres away from the nearest woods, brush or other flammable material or at a distance of not less than 5 metres from the nearest woods, brush or other flammable material if the fire is not more than 1.25 metres from a body of water whose surface area exceeds 10 square metres. Fires should not exceed an area of 0.4 square metres (i.e. approximately 2 feet x 2 feet or the diameter of a tire).
13prevail Bushcraft perfect did not see that info when I searched the 2020 fire ban law

Is Supper the same as dinner?
In Newfoundland, we've always called lunch, dinner and dinner, supper...Just the way its always been...
You only get to do the cooking if you participate in catching not just fishing!!!!! Lol
True enough lol...
