No way! stick with a 2x better rations and less wear on your drivetrain. For the bike it is, touring is awesome and Kona has the 3x touring version which i have and I wouldn't change it's drivetrain at all.
It is very good country for cycling i'd say. We have plenty of everything, climbs, sea, gravel etc. Traffic is mostly in Lisbon and Porto but other than that is great. Especially in the interior of the country. Drivers are also ok. I'd say they are similar to France, Spain, and better than Italy lol
