Jus bought one and installed it today sad thing is my smart 5k bass amp went into protection mode and wouldn't cum out so I didn't get a chance to use it jus yet

It’s similar to JL regulated power supply that does 1200 watts at 1.5 ohm-4 ohm.
This is why my Korean 2400 watts at 1 ohm is less loud than the jL 1200 watts at 4 ohm

These are great. I have Smart 3 and the only time I can hear the fans is when I suddenly stop the music after playing it at max volume. Also I wish the inputs were a bit larger because 0 gauge barely fits, and the manual says about like 150A fuse when really you need like 300A. Other than that the amp is amazing and pushes my sub to the limit , it was really cheap even after import fees and taxes to PL, and most important it fits inside my trunk, and there isn't much space for a korean 3k amp
Always use the smallest fuse that will do the job. It takes CONTINUAL power to blow fuses at their rating... anyways reason for this, is if the power terminals inside or your wires outside of the amp short.. it can cause fires before the fuses pop.. so never use a larger fuse than you need. Only use a larger fuse if it pops, and use the next size up. Sure you might waste some $$ in fuses.. but you will prevent potential fires, especially if you have a lithium bank.

The smart 3 is better if you don't need .5 ohm. It is rated at 12.6 not the bass model.

The inly drawback on the smart 3k 5k and. Taramps in general is the dials ppl say theres no low end bass when these play down to 10 htz the subsinic dial dont turn down evenly on the sub sonic when ur turning it down lower it thrns down low but ramps the amount also as u turn i checked this on a o scope to figure this out it be best to have s ub sonic all the way down to the left and hi pass up all the way to the right and use a dsp to finetune ur crossover points dont depend on the numbers and wonbly dials on the amp.
i have the smart 3k. its under rated for sure. the smart 5k was next on my list for upgrade. but then i heard about a brand called "slapz" and the 8k costs less than the smart 5. i really want to see a legit dyno on them!
Slapz are legit and do what they say they do. I don’t have one but I got a few basshead buddies that do

Massive difference between the Smart 5k and the standard full range 8k e1 sells.
FaceKicker did the 8k Slapz. It fell short. Was more like a 6k. I have the smart 5k. Its a fn beast. My only complaint is the fans are a bit loud. I got it running 2 Xv3 12s. Im hitting 148 on music at 30hz. Hiting above 144 from 28hz-40hz.
The smart 8k is coming out soon, and im definitely going to grab one ($680 I think).
Does using thicker gauge wire Gove more wattage output when you run an amp at same gain? For example, using 0 gauge changed from.4 gauge?
Not necessarily. If you’re not giving the correct wire size to start with then yes you will get more output with sizing the wire correctly with the amplifier, but if the wire size is already perfectly matched, then you will not get a gain going larger.
How do compare this to you new suge 4000 watt amp? Im thinking get one of the 2 but wondering with one would be the better amp on less electrical output from my car.old toyota celica

I got a question. I got a 2022 dodge charger with the stock alternator and i got traramp smart 5k and two 12 inch zvx. I got it wired to 1omh. Im trying to figure out what size lithium battery i need to get. If you could help me i would gladly appreciate it.
You kind of opened up a can of worms getting that smart five because they make huge power, but also need big power. You will need an aftermarket alternator, so check out Auto Tech engineering. I would say at least a 300 amp alternator if you can, I’d go higher. Then get a 40ah 6 cell LTO battery setup with an isolator. Then you’ll be good.

Yeah that's so one thing I just like about amplifiers or maybe about speakers. Is that the impedance? Fluctuates.
If I'm playing a song in the frequency is bouncing around between 20 and 60 hertz. The impedance can be anywhere from one to. I don't know 8. Ohms
So my power output can be anywhere from 10,000 to 600 watts maybe.
Fosgate had their overpriced solution to that. The CP amps constant power but they weren't huge amps and they cost way too much for what they were.
JL audio and some other companies did similar stuff something similar where they had good power into a range instead of a set number but again not really huge gym soon. Way too much dollar per watt.
I had a friend years ago with a Tarmps in his car and it damned her burned his whole car down.
Gains were set right property fused he wasn't running a half home or anything. It's just after about a year It gave up in a bad way.
I'm not sure I'll ever trust a Taramps but it's cool that it gets well over 3000 at forums and a 5k

This is the best amp money can but the smart 3 is a beast the smart 5 is even better but the smart 8 has a huge amount of dialing back the power where the 3 k and 5k dont ive clamped 4600 watts with 1 smart 3k in a real word situation.

Soon as they do, the price will go up and then you will have people butt hurt about the sale price. Most people just add a rca bass knob anyway.
@robdarnell19 true. But what does a knob with a clip light REALLY cost 5 bucks.... of course you have the clip monitor then the RCA knob but my lazy but prefers to run 1 wire lol. Smart 8 would be worth the trouble though
So basically just a bigger version of the old Rockford bdcp amps. To think, Rockford figured this out almost 10 ago give er take. Steve Meade has had 8 of the 2500.1 bdcp amps I'm his Tahoe for years now
Technically jl came out with the slash series first which does that but from 1.5 to 4 ohms
But you can get multiple taramps smarts for the price of 1 rockford. And you can't argue that it's because power is cheaper than few years ago, because rockford is still toooo expensive for what they deliver
@@kubaz2308 I agree I have a ton of taramps, but with that being said I highly doubt a taramps can run for 10 to 15 years taking the punishment a rockford can.
Rockford is old tech. Nothing new in years really, but they keep that premium price tag like it's all new. And JL beat them to the punch on smart amps.
@@Chuck_Sanders Rockford may be old, but it works. Why change from what works? The old philosophy holds true: "You get what you pay for". Taramps/CT-Sounds/SKAR may be producing decent value amps, but I doubt they have the lifespan of the US branded Rockford/JL/Alpine amps.
Also these don't like anything above 16v. The amp will turn off or have issues.
Yes and does not like low voltages I jus sent my smart 5k bass bck after only having it for 2 weeks went into protection mode and wouldn't come out..
Don't low volt it then, and don't give it to much input voltage from the head unit.
Almost every time a Taramps fail… it’s because of user error.
