    Had my 1290 SA for over a year now and absolutely love it! Went out over the weekend with two other 1290’s and they both had electrical issues with the electrics completely dead! Ended up being the main fuse under the right side panel! You hit the nail on the head! Great bike just sort those electric issues out KTM ! Great review

    Counterpoint: a restrained and polite exhaust is a selling point to some people. I work odd shifts and like to be considerate to my neighbors. The mild, even gentlemanly exhaust note of my R1200R was a major factor in my decision to buy. Loud pipes are boorish.

    Ive had lots of fun on my 1290s but a word of caution, ive allmost fallen off the bike due to death wobble above 100 mph with the full luggage setup. Granted ive allso hit 110 mph on other ocasions with just the slightest of wobble.

    • @CurtisBrandt
      @CurtisBrandt Před 3 lety

      @@CurtisBrandt Stock tires indeed, what Michelins exactly are you running?

    • @CurtisBrandt
      @CurtisBrandt Před 3 lety

      @@juhu34 I've mounted up a set of Michelin Anakee Adventure tires. Though the Pirellis were excellent, I mounted the Michelins because I anticipated a little bit of gravel road action at the end of a long ride. I'd previously encountered the high speed weave (topped out with all luggage mounted) on the stock tires and was pleased and somewhat surprised to note the weave was absent under similar conditions on the Michelins. For what it's worth, I did not encounter the reported weave (around 125 mph when fully loaded) when running just the top box with the stock Pirellis, up to an indicated, ahem, much higher speed. I don't ride that fast often, but it appears the Michelins rid the bike of the fully loaded, top speed weave. Though this shouldn't really be something we're talking about - what kind of nutcase rides a fully loaded ADV bike wide open? LOL. I was very impressed by the stock Pirellis, weave aside. The Michelins also feature excellent handling and grip, minus the weave (think, riding like a sport bike in the twisties, plus long-haul and light off-roading - an improbable performance!). I think I'll try the Road 5 trail next, though, because I don't ride off-road much.

    • @C_R_O_M________
      @C_R_O_M________ Před 3 lety

      To all the people here. Wobble isn’t all about tires. It’s about aerodynamics (with panniers sticking out), suspension settings, weight distribution, etc. Not all about tires. Some batches of Brazilian-made Pirelli Scorpions were notorious (for 990s Adventures) for being crooked/unbalanced (front) and THAT could create a wobble but you need to realize that even a very high windshield (and all the aforementioned reasons), can create aerodynamic loads that can upset a bike’s high speed behavior. There’s a reason why big GT bikes like the ZZR, GTR, Hayabusa, etc focus a lot on aerodynamics.

      @@CurtisBrandt I had the Road 4 GT tires on my GTR and they lasted me for almost 20.000kms with “angry” use. I just put on the Road 5s (GT version for heavier bikes) and so far I love them. Only about 300 kms on them though but they are supposedly even better than the 4s in that they re-thread as they wear out. There’s this marketing claim from Michelin that the Road 5s are as good on the wet at 5000kms as a new Road 4 but I’m not convinced that there’s truth in that. We shall see!

      I test rode the XR and a 1190S (less powerful than this bike here) back to back, IMO the 1190S had a superior feeling at the front. It turned more effortlessly than the XR. Rode them through very tight twisters in a familiar to me place and the 1190 was happier (which translated to me being happier). Maybe the extra torque down low was it but the XR feels awkward in relation to the KTM and definitely needs to be revved more in order to get the same results. I am not sure that the XR is that faster either in a straight line. Maybe a tad faster but not that much.

  • @albertoj.mollinedo4116
