    If the brake discs don't completely cover the pads you may want to remove the excess(brake pad) to prevent the pads from wearing around the edge of the disc and eventually clamping pad to pad where the disc wont reach, If that makes any sense. Just trying to help keep ya safe.

    When welding a shaft together you can use two pieces of 3/4 in angle to sandwich on top and bottom. Tack then rotate angles 90 degrees and repeat. I have some vice grip chain clamps that wrap around that work best but for one time, any clamp can work. Enjoyed watching your video. Thanks,

    Very nice! I echo all the kudos. One tip, I don't think your shortened axle will hold up. It will have bending strength, but I'm not sure it will hold up to the twisting force of 100 HP. I did almost exactly what you did and it twisted apart on the first ride. The fix, chop the axle, slot each side, throw a flat bar no wider than the thickness of the axle in the slot as you join both sides together, weld that in, then sleeve it (I used schedule 80) and both axles have held up nicely.

This thing is bad ass!!! I can't wait to see this thing rip shit up!!! You build things how they should be built. Someday you gotta build a small regular go-kart and through that KX-250 engine on it. Then you still got that CR500 engine. Always build as light as possible. I love how you made that shifter so you can rip through the gears. I agree with you on your approach to this build. like for instance the pedals, if you can't find something that fits your application? then it makes sense to build the parts for your application. and those pedals worked out better than any thing that you could purchase that was pre made. I worked in a muffler shop and and I can tell you that you are correct. a little bit of back pressure increases the torque output. so it appears all and all you are headed in the right direction with this build.

    Tbh mate I use CAD/CAM daily for work, and for what you do I reckon it would take 50% of the pleasure out of it. Worthwhile if you're planning on making stuff again, or need record of what you've done, but how you build is organic, far more satisfying than stressing over a computer.

    An amazing build! The one thing I don't like is the way you mounted the pedals to the thin sheet metal on the skid plate. I always think of stuff that can injure you and pedals can move with force when knocked. Maybe a bracket and gussets fixed to the front bar would make it be able to take a few knocks. Still a great build ! looking forward to the finished product.

      Clearly not a CAD/CAM/CNC person yourself. If you were, you'd know how wrong you are.
      Nothing lazy about it. It is way more difficult to design and build digitally. It still requires manual processes and skills on top of the digital portion.

    • @plumberhero
      @plumberhero Pƙed 2 lety

      @@Goatee_yay No I am not, I think you and I just view the lazy aspect of each method in a different way. I meant no disrespect. I understand mental exhaustion and I'm not trying to take anything away from you. On other hand physical work is very hard. Grinding out welds to remove a support or a mistake is harder in my opinion than pressing a button to delete it. Its only my opinion and it's cool that you are educated in digital design. I'm just a small time garage builder with primitive tools lol.

Really happy to see this thing getting finished. Nice job on the pipe too. Assuming you made sure the header won't get damaged from stuff while driving it an when it bottoms out ? Nice job on the rad too. The fire wall was nice to hear you say as well lol.
