  • I have made a chessboard with patterned plywood. In this video you can see how I made this chessboard.
    If you want more info on how I made this chessboard from the patterned plywood, you can read this article reprevmake.com/pattern-plywoo...
    The entire chessboard is made of plywood and wood glue. There are not many tools you need either, I used these tools.
    Table saw amzn.to/2N32Qq8
    Sanding machine amzn.to/2XWlFgR
    Miter saw amzn.to/3ipTpgd
    Clamp amzn.to/39cArqk
    In addition, I made a glue board where I used a screwdriver and an angle.
    I also used my table saw sled, you can see the video of how I made this here. • How to make table saw ...

    Awesome work, love the idea! Just a piece of advice, gloves and high speed blades are never a good combination, you can lose your hand if the blade pulls the gloves.

    Awesome work. I wonder what wouldl happen if you used a dye instead of a stain. Would the dye penetrate enough to not be sanded away after gluing??

    I know this is quite a bit old at this point but im making your board now. Couldnt get everything flat so i had to sand it all down. (removing the stain haha) how did you keep the stain from bleeding under the tape? i tried it on one of my scrap pieces and it bleeds pretty noticeably.

    • @RepRevMake
      @RepRevMake  Před 2 měsíci

      Sorry for the late reply, but I think that I stained them before gluing them together helpt and that the glue between the pieces kept it from bleeding between them.

    Great patience and dedication to the wood work however shop safety is a must. Gloves are a big no no along with using the mitre gauge in combination with the fence of the table saw. Continue to grow and learn!

    Very nice board. Lots of work, craftmanship and patients went into it. I agree with the other comments about wearing gloves and saws. Dangerous! Other than that, the only suggestion I would have... well... 28 minutes of that redundant music was going to drive me insane, even at very low levels. It took away from the joy of watching you create. I didn't want to mute it in case you started talking at some point but I did turn it way down. Even then, at very low levels, I jumped ahead several times just to see the completed project and end the video.

    Well done sir! Just a piece of advice, never wear gloves when working with table saw-band saw or any kind of fast spinning blades.
    If the blade catches the fabrics of your glove it tends to pull your hand more on it, It was a live lesson for me, my uncle lost 3 fingers for it.
    So how you price this kind of art if you wanna sell it? Its amazing job!

    • @RepRevMake
      @RepRevMake  Před 3 lety +1

      Thank you very much for a good tip, I feel naked without gloves :D I understand how this can be dangerous, so I will try to remember to take them off in those situations where I am close to a spinning saw blade.
      This project took me a very long time to create, and I do not think I will create a new one. So if I will sell it will be at a higher price than it is worth :D

    • @RepRevMake
      @RepRevMake  Před 3 lety

      Thank! yes it is birch, but it was the cheapest type of plywood I could find with many layers. for this project the surface is not important, it is how the edge looks that is important and then you can choose a cheaper plywood.

      Takk, jeg bruker den billigste kryssfinerplaten jeg finner hvor jeg bor som har 11 lag og er 15mm tykk. Dette er en plate som er laget for bruk til "formsättning"(ble dette rett svensk?). Den er ikke av topp kvalitet, men siden du bare bruker sidene på kryssfineren så er ikke kvaliteten så nøye, og du fjerner bare de strimlene som ikke ser bra ut. Lykke til hvis du skal prøve deg på et slikt brett :D

      Thanks for your feedback, I know some will think it's too long. But I try to cut them down, but at the same time give everyone who has seen the video a feeling of having been part of the project and that they know how all the steps are done. When I watch other people's videos, I like the feeling of having been part of the whole project. But I know that not everyone thinks the same, and then it is good that youtube has the function that you can speed up the video :D

    Being a norwegian i can remember in the 1800s how hard life was in those days: The average workman WORKED inside their house in one room, ATE in that same room, SLEPT in that room, ENJOYED that same room, fornicated inside the same room, the only thing they did NOT was defecated INside of that room (but out of the house) . Now Norway is one of the richest countries thanks to OiL but remember there is "PeakOil" ("Oil, Smoke & Mirrors" CZcams video)🥲
