Two Irish men tell the routine of violence, horror and abuse they have been through as children in the institutions ruled by the catholic church in the 40s and 50s.
This man's emotional lament against ministers & the government when he was in the audience of a panel show, was one of the most powerful things I have ever watched. How anyone listening to him could fail to be moved, well, they'd have a heart of pure stone. A great man & a powerful spokesman for victims 👏👏👏
Hard to believe, 11 years ago this video was made. Survivors of the Industrial Schools will never receive Restitution for having their lives destroyed . The Genocide perpetrated on innocent Irish Children will forever be forgotten.
The final investigations were blocked at every step, the person in charge of investigating resigned as a protest. The person taking over was met with the same walls of silence. Eventually 120 mil was agreed to be paid by the Christian brothers in reparations, the Irish tax payers paid the additional 900 million. Most people abused haven't been paid or had a fair hearing in court because there were so many. A large number committed suicide or lead to self destructive ends without proper mental health care. A lot of the abusers were not given jail time or even named, that was part of the stipulations of the reparations. They were never punished, evidence was destroyed or "lost". The government grants meant to pay for little kids food was sent directly to the Vatican. So all food and clothes were produced on site at Althone industrial school by the boys themselves in labour camps, with most being sold off for profit leaving them malnourished. The education they were given was purposely limited to lower grades. They were neglected with a lot dying. 1 shower a week in cold with a wet towel to dry on while being beaten. Absolutely savage beatings disfigurments and humiliations constantly for no reason, a lot of whippings snd beatings performed publicly while they were naked. All letters out censored and any complaints met with more beatings. Rape and molestation on an enormous scale, they also encouraged bullying by kids. There were multiple suicides within the facilities and actual murders too. The Christian brothers would move priests to other facilities when investigations got close to them. Constant denials of seeing anything. A lot of these kids were straight up orphans... sheer horror for an entire childhood and essentially unpunished. The kids were dehumanized and given a number. Were basically concentration camps to sexually, mentally and physically abuse children, thousands died in there. Again, most of the abusers are protected and unnamed, didn't serve a day in prison and were still paid a pension.
those who survived the Horrors of their stolen childhoods just a few who survived were given a few Euros most got nothing, and Bullied to keep their mouths shut leave Ireland the so called well paid Bullies sitting on the Redress board blamed the survivors and their Families
Animals would'nt abuse children like that those who did Abuse and Rape children were Devils and more Devils are trying to protect their Devil brothers and sisters they call themselves Religious more like Religion of Satan .
I watched a Monster Nun charge down the yard waving her stick shouting at the top of her voice in a Demonic Rage Screaming I'll beat the Devil out of you as she started bashing a child who was rolling about on the stone cold floor her eyes rolling around she I remember was shaking the Monster Nun was beating her and screaming at the child > I was very young but never forgot that many of us children saw this happen I an certain the child Died for I remember we were all marched to church to pray for her Soul (which is something that Nun didn't have) when I tried to speak out on my visit back to Dublin I was attacked abused and called a filthy Protestant bringing down the catholic church, I even had a gun against my head with threaths to my life by a nasty ignorant piece of shit who claimed to work in a center and her friends , I have never forgotten the Abuses that are like a film in my memory that and other shocking abused and worse, Poor little Bill what happened to him noone wanted to answer, he was only 4 years old, and the politicians havethe nerve to try to hide the abuses while rewarding themselves they used the Groups as a cover,
I'm in my late 50's and have only in the last six months been told my father was in St Joseph's Ferryhouse Clonmel from a relative I have been met with constant brick walls trying to obtain records and details about his time in there. I don't actually know his real name or date of birth. I think it is long over due that all survivor's and there family are acknowledged and given a proper explanation why. You should not have to pay to find this information out.
how is it us against them you are responsible for the abuse both Micheal and myself suffered fact and thousands of others if I had my way every Irish person would die
