The upcoming election results will show how people voted per metropolitan. Basically, if the Umngeni area doesn't vote DA as a majority, it's pretty much over my friends. It will mean the Western cape will eventually go ANC / EFF as demographics change.
Good governance won't be enough to change the vote. I live in the western cape and the Umngeni vote is the most important in the country

I think its strategic. Realistically he wont become premier, if the anc are unseated, the premier candidate will probably come from the IFP as they are likely to be the biggest party in the coalotion. The DA are using his popularity to gain votes which is smart in my view. After the elections, he will go back to being mayor.

Look I think DA is very good in governance and administration, the only reason they not getting my vote is that, they are not interested in black economic improvement, i live in CT and the city is amazing, clean, no City in SA comes close, but in contrast the areas where less privileged black and colored people live are in the worst condition ive seen in all of the country. While the DA still governs well for accomplished blacks and coloreds who have left the poorer neighborhoods, the fact remains, those neighborhoods exist and they are in their worst state.
So, for me, if the responsibility of running this country was shared, to say okay DA, infrastructure development is yours, but your foreign policy and education policies, affirmative action, must not even be entertained.
