      @@TheLawlessTide yes, I snell the first hook, then I tie the hook on the bottom. I'm going to start rigging my big shark leaders like this, that way I can rig up any size bait. I am a California landbase shark fisherman

    Well done Sean! I have been making some of my own daisy chain rigs for trolling offshore using 100 lb. mono with aluminum crimps. Learned something from you on making sure the crimps flare, so thanks for sharing that detail.

      Thanks Bryan. Appreciate it. Yeah they say the edge of the crimp can actually cut into the line if the edge is crimped. That’s why they say to flair it. Hope you are getting some fishing in! From the looks of pics on fb it is blowing up right now!

      The Lawless Tide Is there a certain amount of pressure that you apply when crimping? Just wondering if you could crimp too hard on the mono. Things are starting to get better, but you can’t tell from my performance. Went yesterday in my boat to check some of the flats I fish for trout and got skunked. Obviously some folks catching some trout, but just wasn’t my day I guess. 😕

      The crimping tools run size wise according to line size. If that makes sense. Not so much the pressure but the size of the open in the crimp tool.

      The Lawless Tide OK. That makes perfect sense. Have you tried shrink tubing instead of electrical tape? Any problems with the tape unraveling when it gets wet? Electrical tape is pretty sticky, so may not be a problem. Just curious.

      Bryan S it seems to stick pretty good. I have used shrink tubing before but it can be a pain finding the right size and then you have to be very careful heating up your mono.

    Great videos buddy. Coming down the 24th. I always fish the east jetty and shore by big kahunas. Haven't been down there in April before. Looking to catch some dinner. What's your best bet to target and bait setup. Subscribed. Been fishing off the beach for years, never ran into those black drum. What beast. Will have to try it out.

      Thanks Steve! Your best bet and simplest rig is gonna be to fish the surf with fishbites, fresh dead shrimp, and live sand fleas. I would use a surf pole with a pompano rig(salty mccrorys rigs are great!) and 20lb braid. Have a rod ready with a silver heavy spoon to use to sight fish schools that swim by. I hope that helps, feel free to contact me if you have any more questions buddy.

    We run 30' sometimes 40' leaders. 12-15 is way short. One shark jump or a couple of wraps on even a smaller fish will open you up to getting tail whipped. Just saying.

    • @TheLawlessTide
      @TheLawlessTide  Před 2 lety

      Not sure where you get 12-15 from. 10 feet of cable/wire plus 10-20 feet of 1,000 pound mono does not come close to 12-15feet.

      @@TheLawlessTide that makes much more sense. I could have sworn i heard 5 foot somewhere in the video but I was watching at 0300 🤙. We lost a solid fish sat on a 15' my buddy grabbed from a pile and ran it out anyway and paid the price.

    Shouldn't be using stainless steel for your hooks

    • @TheLawlessTide
      @TheLawlessTide  Před 5 lety

      You are correct, in the description there is a note that says it was incorrectly stated on screen that your should be stainless. As soon as Video was published I realized the text said stainless instead of non stainless and I put that in the description. The hooks used in video are non stainless steel hooks. Sorry for confusion.
