I kind of got lost in all the different colors, and sort of just experimented with a bunch of colors and it turned out ok for a first attempt. Once all the layers blend together; even if it isn't photo-realistic, it makes the skin look more real and the face look 3D. I liked the gray shading on the retina; that part turned out grey and really brings out the roundness of the eyeball. I find that my white gelly roll pen doesn't do much and I have to use an acrylic marker. Is it just the mixture of the alcohol ink and the pen that don't work together well?

I think the gelly roll pen ink is much thinner so it doesn’t cover marker ink well. But sometimes you can use it to smudge some areas just to make it look lighter. Acrylic paint has much better coverage, and I only have been using it a lot recently.
