  • A graduate visa in the UK (or PSW/Graduate route/Post-study work visa) was introduced in the UK in July 2021. Now, in 2022 I want to provide some updates on the reality of post-graduate work permit/post-study work visa in the UK. PSW Visa/Graduate Route is an amazing opportunity, but it is not without its limitations. I share the reality that I have seen so far, what I have observed and heard from many international students in the UK that already have a graduate visa or planning to apply to graduate route/PSW in the UK in 2022.
    I will also talk about the eligibility of graduate route visas, what has been seen so far in terms of the pros and cons of graduate visas for international students and important things to keep in mind if you wish to switch to this post study immigration route or post-study work permit! In summary, the graduate visa is great, but you need to know the reality of it.

      I have already tested this visa and This visa isn't worth for finding graduate job, lots of comapnies won't hire fresher in this visa and small comapnies don't have T2 license. studying in canada or any european country is better.

    Don't go to the UK for studies it is harder to get a job over there. As not many companies hire international people and the job market is very tight and quite difficult to survive in London as it is more expensive over there. I highly recommend going to other countries which have some job security and settling over there.
    Instead go to countries like the USA, Canada, Germany, etc at least there are people who are getting jobs and other benefits. The UK is good if you have an offer letter from a big company.

I have heard from few sources that if people apply for such co op courses and they are unable to secure their seat in the final year in those co ops then they dont get the GRADUATE VISA. is it true ? And if someone secures it then they get 2 + 2 work visa.

I can guess that I will have to switch to a Skilled Worker Visa. What happens after that? In other words, what does the whole path from being a foreigner to the permenant resident/a citizen of the UK look like? How long will it take to become a permamnent resident who eventually gets the UK passport? I would appreciate your response. Many thanks.

    I work at a UK university. If a student fails a module or their dissertation, it depends on the university policy if they can resit, retake the module or resubmit and get the results before the Student visa expires. For example, for some Master programmes that's the case. If the results will be given beyond the expiry date of the visa, the student needs to see if the uni can extend their visa. This will heavily depend on the university policies (not all are the same), and the student circumstances (i.e. having previously declared extenuating circumstances, etc).
    If a student remains in the UK even one day after their student visa expires just waiting for the results to apply for the Graduate route (GR), they will be an overstayer (a serious immigration ofence) and obviously won't qualify for the GR. It also will mess up any chance of getting another visa in the future.
    PS: The PSW visa was scrapped in 2012, this new programme is called the Graduate Route, which is not the same despite having a similar purpose.

    • @m.k.9573
      @m.k.9573 Před 2 lety +2

      @@booitslovelace1674 you need to check this with the international admissions department at your university, they will be able to advise. Sometimes you are not required to be in attendance for any teaching when repeating a module, you just need to retake any assignment/exam which can be done remotely, but again it depends on the university so you need to ask them.

    • @yemsot
      @yemsot Před 2 lety +2

      I also had the problem of my visa expiring before my result was ready because I had to retake a module. I just took a gamble by applying for an extension of my student visa even with my school refusing to issue a new CAS. After about five weeks the home office told me to produce a new CAS. I then sent an email to my school, informing them about my application, and what the home office was requesting. Though they were still adamant about extending my sponsorship, they ensured that my certificate was ready before the deadline the home office gave me, and they informed the home office that I had successfully completed the course. They also said I should go ahead and apply for the graduate visa and they informed the home office that the graduate visa application will be a variation to the student visa application. I also responded to the home office, informing them about the new application being a variation to the old application. Fortunately for me, the home office acknowledged the new application and regarded the student visa application as void. Hence, the application and IHS fees were refunded.
