    Thanks to all who’ve subscribed so far… early days, but we got to 100 subs so we can get a proper channel URL off You Tube. Thanks to all who subbed so far. Please consider subbing, it would really help us out. Thanks all…! 👍

    IMO, the best review of this pedal. Very thorough, and I appreciate going through its features and not just cranking the gain all the way up! 🙏🏻

      Thank you, that’s really appreciated. The gain itself is not the most pleasant on this pedal in my view, so best used sparingly… but it’s a very good overall boost for the price…
      Really appreciate your feedback.

      Awesome. Let us know you’re thoughts when you’ve had a bit of time with it.

    Thanks! I happily use two on my board, one 'big' one & one mini. One in the front to set always-on overall, base tone, and one (mini) at the end for solo boost. There are more 'boutique' boost$ available, but the Sparks are SO good, I've settled here, happy.

      Good set up idea there… thanks for the comment Rick 👍

    This pedal hasn't left my board since I bought it 8 years ago for the exact same reason, it just pushes what's already there rather than transforming it. And let me be the first to tell you Steve - I like your sound🤪

      Thanks Joe, coming from you that means a lot.

      It’s taken a while to get him there though Joseph 😉
      Thanks for the sub too 👍

    Nice review, simple and plain (like this pedal) and it confirms my own opinion. It's been on my board for quite some time now, in fact, I've got them both. The small and the big one. The big one (always on) in front of my board, to shape my tone and the smaller one just before the amp to kick in for lead/solo (never trust the soundman...). The small one has this nice extra function that you can kick it in for just one of two notes (or a riff), by just stepping on it and it stops by releasing your foot. Just my two cents...

      Thanks for the comment, really appreciate that. You make some good points there. I use an EQ in the loop and sometime use that as a gentle ‘boost’ and change of tone for a solo.
      Great comment, thanks.
      PS I like plain and simple, bit like me 🙂

      @@TheBluesBoxThank you for the nice words.
      I only use my EQ (in front of the amp) to fit better in the mix with a band. I'm using most of the times a basic dry-wet rig: Marshall-Vox AC 30S1. The Marshal is the dry with two dirt channels, the Vox is the wet , with a delay and chorus in the loop.
      The AC30 S1 is a fine amp, but in my opinion horrible with dirt and booster pedals, because it's got only a top boost channel.....so here's another big plus from the Spark: it matches with any amp. It's just remarkable how good this inexpensive pedal is.

    Please tell me, which is better for the Marshall JCM800: TC Electronic Spark Booster or Boss SD-1?

    • @TheBluesBox
      @TheBluesBox  Před 9 měsíci +1

      Two very different pedals and much depends on what you’re trying to achieve. The OD1 is more of a Marshall-Like tone, whereas the Spark is about being more transparent and pushing what you’ve already got into more of it… it does have great time shaping (the full size model) with great EQ Control… hope that helps…

    I have a half dozen gain, OD pedals sitting in a box. This one replaced all of them for clean gain.

    • @TheBluesBox
      @TheBluesBox  Před 5 měsíci

      I’ve tried a few too and really do like this great pedal. I use it to shape the sound before the amp gain stage (and also use an EQ in the loop) so for more than just a boost. Not sure what’s happening with the brand though.

    I find it strange that nowhere on the web does TC tell us what type of boost circuit is used, fet, op amp? or is this a digital algorithm? Most all other mfgs tell you whats inside.weird.

    • @TheBluesBox
      @TheBluesBox  Před 2 lety

      You raise a great point. Not a lot of info on the TC site. I can’t vouch for it but a little digging online seems to suggest it’s a form of OD, how accurate that is I don’t know, nothing to say op amp or diode as you say. We recently revisited an old RAT pedal and that is a good example of a pedal that will also work as an almost clean boost but is clearly an overdrive/distortion pedal. Here’s the link I found on the spark that may be useful… www.tdpri.com/threads/spark-booster-supposed-to-be-a-boost-here-we-go-again.481313/
      Thanks for the comment, if you get to the bottom of it let us know…
      However, it’s a pedal that is used a lot by both of us. My ears love it but there are a million OD/boost pedals out there so I’m thinking a lot of marketing gets used to differentiate but that means lots for consumers to wade through…
      I do love the EQ with this pedal (and eq switch) and that was a primary driver for me to buy it, the Mini doesn’t do that so wasn’t of interest.
      Thanks for the comment and watching it’s really appreciated 👍

    • @TheBluesBox
      @TheBluesBox  Před 2 lety +1

      The GE7 is buffered so wondering if you’re benefitting from a buffer in your set up (Spark is true bypass) what’s your setup?. It (Spark) really shouldn’t alter your tone much (faulty?) weird 🤷‍♂️. It’s whatever works for you though isn’t it 👍 I’ve used GE7 lots myself too. There are a few good mods for it out there also…
      Thanks for watching and commenting. Really appreciate it.

    So many words... but no sound

    • @TheBluesBox
      @TheBluesBox  Před 4 měsíci +1

      Apart from the sounds later in the vid in the chapter labelled clearly ‘sounds’… there are chapter markers to give you an easy way to get to that point and get past the ‘chat’. Not to belittle your comment but I never understand these comment to be honest as there are many other vids out there that do just sound, so why not just go there and enjoy that one? Yes we do waffle it’s true, but have you seen how old we are, of course we waffle! 😅 But one opinion on the value of that is just that, one opinion. We take them on board, but you can’t make everyone happy, so why bother. Just do your thing and if people like it great and if they don’t, we’ll they don’t. Same with music! We all like different stuff, that’s a good thing.
