i have an analysis essay or video or something i wanna eventually do about the theme of the fantasy vs reality of piracy and being a pirate (which is a HUGE theme across everything in the show) but using that theme to show that Pete is what Izzy could be if izzy would accept the reality of piracy and the help/support of those around him, and vice versa -- izzy is what pete would have become if he hadn't

@@maluithil pretty much any episode, character, or aspect of the show can be analyzed with that theme of real pirates vs dream of The Pirate; I actually have a couple videos of me talking about it on my page so far! One of them is on a thing I noticed makes how things ended up with Pete and Lucius at the end of the season somehow infinitely even more heartbreaking D:

Matt Maher talking about always trying to make people laugh, having a 25% success rate, but still always trying anyway is relatable AF. Didn't think I could love him more, but here we are.
I mean; Black Pete certainly has his faults. Everyone does. But I think he's genuinely always been a sweetheart deep down; he apologizes to Frenchie after ruining his flag, he's very respectful towards the rest of the crew and sympathizes with Stede during the dinner with Badminton.
I think the first half of the season, there's a lot of insecurities he's dealing with and he is just very desperately trying to compensate by trying to tell made-up stories about himself and Blackbeard. And with that comes a slight pinch of toxic masculinity which he unlearns by being adored and taken care of by Lucius in the second half of the season. Lucius helps Pete stay grounded, but also lets him know that he doesn't have to pretend to be liked, because Lucius already likes (LOVES) him for who he is. And it turns him into this adorable goofball that loves his boyfriend and wants to take care of him. I wish I was more like Black Pete
I think it's hilarious that Nathan, in a pink shirt and a ballcap, loves Timmy Turner, who wore a pink shirt and a ballcap. ;)
