- In this video, I take you along as I do a mini-makeover of my family room and share ten ideas for increasing the coziness of any room. Using mostly things that I already have, I attempt to make big changes on a small budget (under $100). I also share some tips for staging/displaying your home decor. To stay on budget, I complete a few DIY projects such as painting two end tables, painting and gold waxing a thrifted decor piece, and applying garden lime to my lamps.

I’ve had a mean cat, a crazy cat, and a few sweet cats. I had an independent cat, too. I didn’t have these cats all at the same time, but over the years. And I can certainly say that cats have different temperaments! When you find a sweet cat, you’re blessed.
@@faithwalker5196 Yes! I have had a mean cat that was crazy, too! She would jump into the refrigerator when the door was open and scratch and hiss if you tried to get her out. I would have to leave her in there for a few minutes until she decided that she was ready to come out!!

Absolutely love it. I like the navy curtains the best. You might think about painting the fireplace screen black and highlight with rub and buff gold. This will break up all the white. You really made it cozy. I'll be right over for a spot of tea!

You totally succeeded in making your family room feel cozy. Re the drapes, I agree that velvet is the perfect fabric for fall/winter, and I would go with a soft yellow-gold. It will look wonderful at Christmastime.

If you have a Burlington store near you it's a great place to purchase velvet drapes very inexpensively. I treated myself to 2 pair of silvery gray lined velvet drapes a few years ago and they were about $20 a pair of 84"L set. I still have them and they're luxurious and beautiful. An added plus is that they block light and cold in the bedroom windows!

WOW..... love it all. That sofa table vignette with the rusted birdcage is amazing! And the navy drapes, old trunk and touches of black really anchor the room. Love your vision. I also love little unintentional surprises . Like looking from your living room into your kitchen, I see the arch of the secretary desk mimics the arch wood in your kitchen. Love when that happens!!! Just something my eye gravitates to.

What a lovely home you've created. So very comfy and cozy. But I honestly wonder how much time you actually take for yourself to just relax, unwind, and get cozy??? You are a dynamo. It appears you're busy all the time, shopping, creating, filming, editing, while also maintaining your little shop, and all the basics chores that also need attention. I so admire your work ethic and creativity. The amount of new ideas you come up with each and every week is more than I can manage doing in months. Ever feel burnt out on new ideas??? You should take a vacation to somewhere you've always wanted to go and consider it a business trip, since we know you'll be shopping 'til you're dropping finding treasures wherever you go.

I definitely like the legs painted black in the top left natural wood. I love that look anyway. The darker curtains do make a big difference. You did such a phenomenal job, but you always do. Love the lamps. Really love the makeover.

It's simply lovely. Go with the gold toned velvet curtains...they'll pick up the other gold/autumnal tones in the room. The blue looks too crisp against the white...giving a more summer beach airy feel. Kitty cat would expect her minion to purchase the finest in luxury sleeping attire for her.

Hello Sherry! I am in love with the longer golden velvet drapes!! It enhances the gold metallic accents and warms the whole room. I've had velvet drapes on my cold weather windows for over 20 years. Am I in a rut? Maybe....but I know what I like. Your option is even richer than my vintage fringe treasures.........so am a little jealous of that option. Velvet is very stylish now, so you must have great taste! Do you keep them up year around? They probably do a good job of keeping out the summer heat.

My rod is extended past windowsill and iron bed coming out of corner with 3 porch columns behind headframe with large vintage vase of flowers on one and vintage bird figurine on top of another. ( I love birds). My belated father and I reconstructed columns from remnants found in barn. They aren't fancy.....but treasured. Velvet gives them clout😄
