Most Famous VIETNAMESE Food Recipe in Thailand ('Vietnam Meatball Wraps' at Tanapawn Naem Nuong)

- In my own words, “One of THE Worlds’ Heavyweight Breakfasts,” Naem Nuong so tasty that at THIS restaurant it’s the kind of meal you literally go to sleep excited to wake up the next morning to EAT!
I found myself in the exactly this same happy situation last weekend, and I can’t wait to share every bit of it in this video with you today!
Such a multi cultural influence in just one dish (well, ok, I ordered 7 dishes for this meal... Tanapawn Naem Nuong is just SO awesome!), it’s so cool to think of the Laos-Thai influence on this classic Vietnamese dish (which includes some clear Chinese flavor-history as well) - and so that’s why I refer to this as a 4-culture combination!
I would be honored if you join us for what’s going to be the first live premiere of a video on this channel, I have been really enjoying the live streams offered by CZcams, a very cool format to get to know many subscribers much better over the past few months, but I am trying to premiere for the first time with this video.

Truly amazing. I must say that Thai and Vietnamese cuisines make a perfect marriage.. The fusion of Thai way of cooking meats and the herbs along with Vietnam's skill at making rice based ingredients like wraps and noodles make the perfect treat.
By the way, Joel, those rice wraps are triangles, but they are originally made round, steamed and then dried. That's why they just need to be soaked to be eaten.. They're already cooked. Once they're soaked, they obviously cut them in quarters. That delicate rubbery smooth texture is everything to die for.

Very nice meal. Maybe I wasn't seeing all the condiments but I didn't see any Sriracha sauce, Chili Garlic Paste, Fish Sauce or Hoisin sauce. Perhaps its because everything was fresh and all of the sauces I mention are processed but for whatever reason those are the sauces I usually see in southern California Vietnamese cuisine. I wish we had more of the sawtooth culantro here thats a great addition!
Hi John! Really appreciate the comment, that is interesting about the sauces! Obviously just from your experience, theres not only the real sauces that traditionally (which I may or may not have done correctly!! :) ), but theres also the sauces that PEOPLE EXPECT to come with the meal - which may or may not be totally important, maybe even more important than what ACTUALLY goes with it!!! Haha, and this is part of the history of many foods in the world!! So, I would say, in this situation, California Vietnamese food could very well be considered its own cuisine :). Not even kidding, and thats totally cool!! Just like Pizza in New York City, or Dim Sum in Hong Kong. These things are so famous that they probably annoy all the 'purists' (which I never ever want to be!!!), but they make everyone else very happy to just go and enjoy, and not think about what 'should' be, but just enjoy what is! :)

3 hour ride to prep for the meal!! Way to go! And then you are so kind to set aside a portion for your beautiful Li! One of my favourite Vietnamese dishes is the one with the egg that came out like lava, it's called bánh cuốn in Vietnamese, but soooo delicious!!! I usually dunk it in a soup bowl of nước mắm (fish sauce) . My grandma used to make that sour papaya salad! It would take her hours to chop up all the veggies, but it was so so fresh and delicious! Really nostalgic video for me! Thank you for sharing, as always!! Will you ever go to Vietnam and do a food tour there?
Loulieu! Oh wow, Vietnam.... yes. Yes I would love to visit again! I have been to Hanoi 3 times, Ho Chi Minh city 1 time, maybe a total of 4 weeks altogether? I have always wondered, because to me Thailand and Vietnam seem to be the two BIG countries in this area, mostly in terms of food I guess, but hey, maybe even history, and a (somewhat) unified culture, one which we can more easily study today anyways (further note, what I mean is that Cambodia, Laos, and Myanmar have all had large parts of their histories basically erased, which is a tragedy indeed...).
I would love to learn more about all these things youve mentioned, and I had always thought "what if I had ended up in Vietnam, instead of Thailand? What would the past 11 years have been like?" Because I am sure that Vietnam has easily as much to be fascinated over, to get passionate about, to just dive headlong into and spend a lifetime loving. Yes. I will do a food tour there. Haha, to answer that question... but even more I would want to come and live for a year actually, probably in the Center provinces, as the environment would be just a bit more natural, closer to nature... :). It's really neat that you've lived in Thailand for 11 years! I truly believe that we are all on a very unique Journey in this path we call life. Everyday is truly a blessing, and your videos are so evident of how grateful you and Li both are! Ive traveled to Southeast Asia and China several times, to visit both roots. Living in Canada, we have little appreciation for how different cultures live and enjoy the things in life that being happiness. It's not the materialistic things, but truly the experiences with families and friends that bring real meaning to our lives! PS. My email signature is Have a beautiful day! Lol. @@JoelsTastyRide So, Panamà is in Central America and we have de Panamà Canal. Due to this with the past of the years, multiple cultures and ethnicities have ended up here in Panamà, and we(the panamenians) do not know the real origin of the different foods we have in our country, so I would like to start with something like that :).
