5 guys, college students at the time, drove 4 hours over to St. Louis in 1976, and watched them playing the Crime of the Century "new" album. It's crazy seeing someone like you listening to them for the very first time when they've been such a staple in my genre for 50 years. Keep on rockin'!!!
Like you, I’ve know this since it came out. For some reason, until today I did not know the title. Hell of a great song. I would have enjoyed being part of your college trip with friends. I’be seen hundreds of concerts but never Supertramp.
@@tonydelapa1911 same for me with the hundreds of concerts!!!! Back when it only cost $5 or $10 (or free)...unlike today's prices. My last concert 2-3 years ago was Jeff Beck opening for ZZ Top that cost $275/seat. Beck was fantastic as always, but ZZ Top was lethargic and the crowd, after being so hyped for Beck, actually boo'ed at some of ZZ's halfhearted attempts at songs.
@@dabassmann I get it. Peter Gabriel is coming to Milwaukee and I've never seen him, thought it might be fun - until I saw the prices. $250 for nosebleed seats, up to $1500 for the "good seats". Man, I remember when we never paid more than $27 to see the Grateful Dead, even in the early 90's. It's a shame. I'm sure shows cost a helluva lot to put on, but come on...
Just a side note... When Rodger Hodgson Guitars left Supertramp they got David Gilmour for the next album. When Gilmour did his next album he got John Helliwell Sax from Supertramp to play on it..... Talent knows talent when they hear it. So do I. They are my two favorite bands seen live 4 times each.
There are 2 lead singers in Supertramp Rick Davies and Roger hodson , Roger hodson is the one with the high voice ! These 2 guys are musical geniuses to say the least !

Actually, the high-pitched voice in the chorus is the same singer who sings the rest of the song. It is Rick Davies, who is famous for singing well in his natural voice and also in falsetto ;-)
If you ever get the chance you might want to check out other songs of Supertramp called "School", "Take The Long Way Home" Or "Bloody Well Right", very different songs but still very cool. You won't be disappointed, guaranteed.
Listen to "Lover Boy" by Supertramp. Not known as well as some of their other songs. Maybe it's just me because it describes perfectly my 1st roommate.

i had this very album back in the day. That was a guitar solo Jimmy Hendricks would have tipped his hat to.
