    I bought the Beachunter at the beginning of September. Its a great machine. I use it mostly at the beach, i've found gold, silver and dug some very very deep holes. It works just aswel on soil with good results.

    Carter. Thanks for the video and info. Glad to see you snag that small gold pendant. I just picked up a TDI BH and can't wait to get to the beach and use it. Looks like the ability to run in the 10uS-12uS range is a huge plus and gives this unit a leg up on the Dual Field. I liked my big box original TDI on the beach (hunt NJ beaches for the most part), but was always leery of that rouge wave or dropping it. Hunted in the wet sand mostly as I didn't want to try to mod it for water hunting or suds.
    I put my TDI BH on a Anderson straight shaft and it balances perfect. I do like the GB option to hunt in 2 tone if the need arises but glad to see you show how GB off really does a lot better. I am going to use mine with the stock battery pack for now but will be in the market for one of the after market ones to boost up the voltage for a bit more punch and battery life. Glad to see Joe chiming in on that.
    Hope all is well and say hi to Gary for me. Last time I saw you and Gary was at Ronnie's shop in Raritan years ago. I was up there a few weeks ago but Ron was at the Minelab party ! Happy hunting, happy holidays and stay safe out there. JC

    My TDIBH gets an additional 2"-3" extra depth with the 14.6V battery pack. Keep the Threshold super low and adjust the Volume if needed. GB off is the only way to go. One last thing, you will develop a keen ear for the tiniest threshold breaks because the unit runs so smoothly at high/power settings. Thanks for the video.

    Very interesting test. Thanks for putting this info up. If you get out again on wet sand it would be very cool if you could mark some targets and see how the response between GB and no GB varies. One of White's big selling points on this machine is it's ability to differentiate between low and high conductors.

    • @DetectorComparisons
      @DetectorComparisons  Před 5 lety +3

      I can tell you right now the response is stronger with the ground balance off. What you saw in the video with the air test is the same you're going to see with buried Targets in wet saltwater sand. And in my opinion the Hi-Lo separation is a gimmick. Many gold rings will read as high conductors and the last thing you want to do is pass these up! All the medium two smaller gold will give you a high tone but School rings and men's wedding bands can easily give you a low tone as you saw in the video. With the ground balance off you go deeper and everything sounds the same.

    • @williampaxton871
      @williampaxton871 Před 5 lety +1

      Understood. I was just curious if the hi/lo was useful. Thanks for the reply and I look forward to seeing more of you and the machine in action.

    Thanks for the video Carter, I've asked a few how it did in saltwater. Your the first to give me just what I was looking for. Thanks for capturing the audio of the detector also. There is a battery mod that is said to add a few inch's and come closer to the TDI Pro's performance. Worth the effort...Thanks for sharing. Joe Beechnut..OBN

    • @DetectorComparisons
      @DetectorComparisons  Před 5 lety

      If I'm air testing a ring at 12in, in the wet saltwater sand I'm guessing I could hear it at 14 in or more.

    Hi great video !
    I’m in the uk .
    The beach I hunt has big iron on it . With the gb off is there a way to distinguish this ? Would it show as iron if I clicked the things just on ?
    I have been running with the gb just clicked on for the two tones, but now feel I am losing depth on the items you tested
    Thanks

    • @DetectorComparisons
      @DetectorComparisons  Před 4 lety

      You are losing a little bit of depth with the GB on but if there is a lot of iron you probably want the two-tone capability. I would just give it time and try it with and without the GB on to see how it works for you

  • @info4rob
    @info4rob Před 5 lety

    I'm curious what you think of the difference in the tdi beachhunter vs the tdi pro. Do you think there's a difference in depth between the two models? I know you have a TDI pro that I've seen you dig some deepies with. Also I am curious what you think about using one in an area that has a low mineral content in the sand. Here in FLorida we have very little minerallized sand so I am trying to decide if I might be better working a VFL with a larger coil or if a PI unit will still beat the vlf with larger coil for depth. I'd use it primarily in the water and wet sand. Thanks for any advice you can give.

    • @DetectorComparisons
      @DetectorComparisons  Před 5 lety

      The TDI Pro is deeper by up to two inches on coin/ring sized objects even with the BH using the 14.8V battery. If you have low ferrous trash, I would use a BH while wading over a VLF with a large coil. I'm still hearing nickels at 16" with the BH which is impressive.

    Would you reccomend the garret at max or is there another metal detector around the same price range

    • @DetectorComparisons
      @DetectorComparisons  Před 5 lety

      The ATM is a good detector for land and fresh water but not the best for salt water. Look at videos to see which detectors work best in salt water. Nokta and Minelab make detectors in the same price range that work well in salt water.

  • @chuchulachunchulachunchi4682

    Hi, I'm thinking to get an Equinox 800, I saw a few of your videos, and I have just one question, In land How deep can it detect? I read that It can reach 3 meters, is that true?

    • @DetectorComparisons
      @DetectorComparisons  Před 5 lety

      It depends what you trying to detect. For coins and rings you're generally looking up to about a foot.

    The PI dualfield is a beast from hell, but its way too susceptible to moisture ingress, and failure. I've had 3, all useless now. I'm more interested in the TDI now, need to find 1.

  • @Unclebub34
    @Unclebub34 Před 5 lety

    How does it do with iron? Can you tell the difference with a good target and an iron target easily?

    • @DetectorComparisons
      @DetectorComparisons  Před 5 lety +1

      You're going to hear the iron with this machine but there is a difference between a coin size / ring size object and bobby pin. A good Target like a ring or a coin is a very solid even hit where small iron is a little more shaky

    I have a tdi sl and a d.f surf PI, but I have been looking at the equinox 800. have you done any comparisons?

    • @DetectorComparisons
      @DetectorComparisons  Před 5 lety +1

      Major difference between the machines. The two you have do not discriminate and are pulse circuitry so they work very well in saltwater. The Equinox also works in saltwater but does not have the depth but the plus side is it will discriminate out trash. I use the equinox around old dock sites and I use the pi detectors when there is not much iron trash

    • @240x9
      @240x9 Před 5 lety

      And one more....What about a hunted out beach with little trash. I keep hearing how the equinox excels in hunted out areas. probably a redundant question.

    • @DetectorComparisons
      @DetectorComparisons  Před 5 lety +1

      @@240x9 if you're going to a relatively cleaned out Beach area with little trash you definitely want to use your Pi machine over an equinox. The Equinox does go deep but does not get the depth of a pi machine. The only drawback is you will dig everything with your pi . good luck

    • @DetectorComparisons
      @DetectorComparisons  Před 4 lety +1

      The detector is always trying to retune itself. Keep the coil level with the wet sand and you should be fine. If you don't like the retuning, run it with GB on.

    As a comment for you, fresh air tests are pointless. In salt water, is the only gauge. If you feel you have a deep signal in SW, don't dig it, adjust controls to make it more pronounced. In most cases, no delay is necessary.
