    Great vid. Love your reviews. One thing I'd like to share about the fishing line. The stuff on your spool is known as a "braid", or "braided line". Mono-filament would be the clear stuff you've probably known forever. Couple differences between the two, also reasons I like to use them for a kit like this: 1) Braid can be a smaller diameter for an even higher rated breaking strength. I.E. A 20 lb test braid can be around a 4-6 lb mono diameter. So, you can fit more line in the same space, and it'll be stronger. You could probably pitch a tarp with 30lb test braid. Reason 2) Braid is less likely to retain a memory when wound around such a small spool. What that means is, if you had mono wound tightly around a small diameter spool, when you unwound it to use it, you would see it retain a curl about the size and shape of the spool. That will make it difficult to use and cast, as it will not want to come out straight, but will want to be spring-like, and return to the shape of the spool. Braid won't do this. You'll be able to pull it off the spool, and have no trouble throwing it out and having it fly straight. Remember, though, when you tie your knots, braid is usually a little more slick, and will require more friction in the knot, i.e. more twists.... Thanks for reading. Bonus: braid doesn't stretch so much, and it's easier to feel a fish take the hook, and hooks set more quickly.

    I’ve made a complete kit for fire starting, fishing, sewing and tape dispensary nearly the same concept with using those rubber tube “fishing tackle” tubes- I got a collapsible telescopic fishing pole with a small reel (I believe an ice fishing reel) the whole kit is 11”length x 3”wide - wound 3 spools of fishing line, 2 spools of high tensile nylon sewing thread, one roll of leka tape, one roll electric tape, inside the tube I have a small kit of needles, safety pins, waterproof matches, a razor knife, a full nylon fish rope, 3 bobbers, fishing lures, bait holders, and tweezers... it’s very compact and invaluable- have fun preppers! Great ideas are from sharing what we got

Perhaps Exo Tac has a Suggestion Award Program. Perhaps you might suggest they build a 6 inch Fire Piston. They're 90% there already. Have them include a relief valve at the end to hold the plunger in. Cheers.

    • @dhession64
      @dhession64 Před 5 lety +1

      Joe, I don't have one of these, but just eyeballing this tells me if you could put a small ferro rod in it, there wouldn't be room for the needle, which defeats part of the purpose of the item. I guess you could take a piece of tape and put it around the end of the needle to preserve the point and slide it in alongside the rod, but you'd likely have no room for anything else in the space. And if you try to pack too much stuff in there, you won't be able to get it out. Hell, buy one and try it to see if you can; if it doesn't work, you still have a nice piece of innovative kit to add.

      @rkaag99 - I'm not slamming the product advertised , but my pocket kit is a plastic cigarette package container available at any tobacco shop for 2 buck$ . Bank line , fishing line and gorilla tape is wrapped around the outside .
      Heavy duty , light duty and suture needles are inside . Heavy duty carpet thread and fine monofilament which can be used for sutures or sewing . Small button compass , ferro rod , home made fuel tabs ,fish hooks , sinkers etc .
