  • Lesson 4 - Heavy Rock Style Palm Muting aka CHUGS!
Can you believe that in nigh on 35 years of messing about with guitars, that I've never taken an actual lesson! (I bet you can from my playing!) Well, it's time to put that right, right now!
I'm going to take a series of online / CZcams courses to not only improve my playing, but also to review, show the contents and tell you what I thought of the course, so you know how useful it is, and if it's going to be the one for you too...
These videos are edited, so you can get a flavour of the course content and delivery / teaching style, without watching the whole thing. Enjoy!
The first series is "Electric Guitar Starter Course", in TEN parts, by Andy Crowley (Andy Guitar) who is a fantastic teacher, and my go to guy for learning how to play songs. The full video can be found here: • Electric Guitar Lesson...
(I hope Andy doesn't mind me reviewing his course...)
Let me know in the comments what you thought of this review.

My guitar is such a great rock machine. I've wanted one since I first saw James Dean Bradfield playing his live thirty years ago! My very own Epiphone Les Paul Custom in Alpine White!
This video is not sponsored. I bought this guitar with my own money (unfortunately!) Epiphone did not give me a guitar to review, although if they want to, I won't refuse!

Let me just say that I'm a beginner, at both the guitar & CZcams. This isn't me showing off or saying look how good or knowledgeably I am. I'm just trying to help other beginners by sharing what worked for me. I'm just trying to reach out to fellow guitar learners and guitar beginners, so we can all learn together, from each other. So, we don't have to feel so alone, surrounded by showy experts.
There are lots more videos like this to follow. Let's learn together!
I'm returning to playing guitar after a 20+ year absence, so I'm no virtuoso. (My fingers & brain don't work like they did in my teens / twenties!) I am in essence not very far from an absolute beginner.
Join me on my journey into the world of guitars. This will be a magic, mysterious, thrilling, sometimes infuriating, journey into learning, playing and recording guitar, and all things guitar related.Think of me as your learning buddy, your 'pathfinder', a nostalgic reminder of your own guitar learning story, or primarily an entertaining novice on a journey of discovery. I won't take this too seriously. It's a hobby, not life and death. Let's have a laugh together.
At the end of 2020 I was challenged to record a cover version of "Seven Nation Army" by the White Stripes on my guitar. The challenger said that if I recorded it then they would record themselves singing over it. This kick-started my 2022 drive to not only re-learn the guitar, but improve on my 'skills' from my 20's, finally conquer the instrument, and start the "Guitars Are Hard" CZcams channel to share my experiences and knowledge with others.
