    My mother bought me a recast for christmas, since she knew I really wanted bjd for so many years. I can't not love my doll and I should appreciate that my mother thought about my dreams. That's why I'm proud of my doll. Don't be a mad person.

    To me it's a first world problem. BJDs shouldn't create such animosity between people, especially now. At the end of the day I'm no ones mother and I have no right to tell someone they are lesser or better for owning a recast or a legit. I love watching doll artists on instagram and seeing the love going into what they do.

    Yes. It's easy to be a bully when you aren't face to face. Some people can not live without drama. They literary have to live in a soap opera. Me and my dolls are gonna stay over here. Love you Josh!!!

    I like Doll Warden. My crew yelled at me when I referred to myself as a zoo keeper. :) And yes, my crew is mixed. So What... We ALL have more important things to be worried about. Thank you Josh for putting your health and life on the line for others. This "it's only the flu" (yes I'm still hearing that) is very scary and still a large unknown. I've lost family and friends to it. "It" isn't done with us yet. Dear Bullies, take a good look at yourselves, and not just in the mirror. If being a bully makes you happy, You have a serious problem.

    I have many thoughts on this and always love hearing yours. Mine boil down to I just love watching people love their dolls. One aspect of all this that has popped up for me lately is the whole thing of customisation. For me this comes from getting into the Blythe community. I would have such a problem with customising a legit doll. There's just so much that could go wrong and with Blythe you might be customising a doll that someone else would love in its original form but now you've taken one more from that small pool of those original dolls - yes the argument could be made that it's your doll and you can do what you like with it, and I would agree with that, but still, I wouldn't want to do that or to own a legit doll that had been carved up. Personally I see the recast/factory/fake etc dolls as opportunities to be creative without harming an original. I applaud Pullip dolls for embracing this aspect of the doll collecting hobby and bringing out lines specifically intended for customising. I think more companies should do that and offer less expensive versions of their own products intended for this purpose. Or maybe they could sell the ones that don't quite turn out as inexpensive seconds - that would certainly lift the credibility of companies who sell damaged and poorly manufactured dolls as the real deal that you just paid hundreds for and just hope you won't complain about it.

      I understand your worries. Custom dolls aren’t always for everyone and in that light there should be some dolls in their original states. ❤️

    Josh. Once again you are wise beyond your years! You can love people and respect their beliefs but don't have to respect their behavior. I can afford to buy a more expensive BJD but haven't yet. I do have three "recasts". I just can't justify spending the money it costs to buy one of these amazing artist originals! I'm asking for a Smart Doll for my birthday and love and support Danny Choo's company. Having researched and watched the videos of the amazing effort and creativity of doll makers, it now makes more sense to buy an original rather than a recast if you can. Watching the Papovy Sisters for example, I can totally understand the cost of their dolls but not everyone can justify spending that kind of money. I would feel guilty doing that when I know people personally who are struggling financially. And why should these BJDs be only belong to the wealthier doll collectors? The dolls I bought from China are nicely made! Why should I slam on the people working hard there making these dolls and trying to support their families in that country? How original can a face and bjd body be? Not sure how you prove that something is recast! I have purchased Factory Blythes. Are they recast? And Blyth came from Tomy right? How could a big company like that suffer excessively financially from recasts. I'm afraid to say this because of how offended people get when one is not "politically correct" but I'm tired of political correctness getting in the way of truth as I perceive it (emphasis on "I") Here goes.... I imagine that most doll collectors are women. Women are women and from the time we are young we tend to engage in lots of back stabbing behavior. Back stabbing behavior is quite popular on the internet so... just a thought.. This does not mean everyone but I've found over my 55 years that "girls will be girls" Maybe this is why you, as a man, don't get the meanness. Carry on my friend. I don't know you personally but am hoping to meet you and your husband one day when I visit NY. All my best. Take care of yourself and keep up ALL of the good work.

      Women are women? No offense but as a 'woman' I've yet to stab someone in the back. Men can be equally cruel as women. As for your comment that people in China who are selling recasts need to provide for their families as well, I understand. BUT I will root for them that they'll find a more honest way to make a living instead of using theft as a way of income. I know counterfeits are a thing nowadays in almost every item category but that doesn't make it okay for me personally. By the way kudos for you on respectfully sharing your opinion on things. It's enjoyable to read different opinions from mine and to reflect on them. I wish you lots of happiness in life wherever it may take you ^__^

    I really wish this was the common view on things- I'm new to the hobby and seeing all the drama... 😬 like at the end of the day, theyre dolls! touch grass and all that. I recently ordered my first doll (who is still in the mail) + this point theres a high likely hood I wont post her or share her much BECAUSE people are ruthless (I've even seen people get mad at people buying cheap legit dolls? like fully harassing resin soul buyers and such). Idk, its just a shame that people in the hobby seem to be at each others throats all the time over literally every little thing.

    I myself am Pro artist, but I would never harass and talk shit about people who own recasts. In fact, a recast friendly tumblr user save me from destroying one of my heads in order to put him on a minifee body( no mods needed). It's not my money either, I hate telling people how to spend their money or what they should and shouldn't do with it. That's just me, and this does not make me recast neutral. I am just anti-drama, I'm very chill with newbies in the hobby, accidents happen, discontinued sculpts exist, etc. I have epilepsy and DID, with tons of hospital bills, so I understand why someone might buy a recast Dollshe, Minifee or Dream of Doll. I love doll in general; BJDs, Barbies, haunted dolls, plushies, etc. However, seeing people bitch and complain over someone having a recast of "x" doll is sad. I have better things to worry about like college and that is more important than "is my friends doll legit?".

    I nearly cried when you mentioned invisible disabilities. Thank you so much for acknowledging those as a healthcare worker~♡
    As for the topic of your video, I am extremely pro-artist. Everytime I see a recast on eBay or a user flaunting their recasts l honestly feel so angered that I feel like crying. However I will NEVER personally attack anyone that buys or owns a recast. There's no way that any recast owner will suddenly decide that legitimate is the way to go after I've spent hours yelling at them or insulting them or spreading hate about them just because they own a stolen copy of an original design.
    However if they're willing to turn legitimate I'll be the first in line to help them out with everything they might need help with. I know this hobby is financially hard, especially for those in the EU, so transition can be tough on some. I've heard of an owner of recasts having to diminish their collection from 7+ to just one to be able to afford legitimacy. I understand why some still haven't made the switch but as someone who saved up for 9,5 years for her first ball-jointed doll I can't condone owning recasts ever.
    I really do appreciate your honesty in this video and how you weigh your words and I certainly agree that making others feel bad is never the way to go about anything.
    Spread love, not hate~!

    I went legit and I do label my dolls as legit, and only post pictures of legit dolls, sometimes I get sad when I see a doll has been recasted. I might even get internally upset if I see someone brag about spending $500 on a bunch of recasts, but I would never attack these people personally, even if I don't understand why they would waste so much money on dolls without value. If I was to get mad, how could I explain to them the damage recast dolls do to the very company that they admire, or how could I explain that having one good doll is really worth more then a handful of copies? And, no, I don't see a recast and launch into the 'go legit' speech, the only time I give my opinion is when it is asked for. Arguing with people wont make them see the worth of a legit doll, but educating them might. I agree that life is to short and there is too much other stuff going on in the world to raise a fit with people that you don't see eye to eye with over dolls.

    • @JoshuaNicholsJoshybearhuggies
      @JoshuaNicholsJoshybearhuggies  Před 4 lety +1

      Well, you wouldn’t explain anything to a person that’s not open to hearing it. In short, you would have to wait for that person to want that information from you. That being said... it’s a far shot having a person buy a recast and not know it’s a fake... despite the argument of it. It’s way too much info and rants on it

    • @Hekate-Ink
      @Hekate-Ink Před 4 lety +31

      "Dolls without value"? You made an entire comment about how nice you are to people who own recasts, only to use said comment to un-subtly put down both the people and the dolls. By making this comment and wording it the way you did; you're doing the exact thing you were bragging about not doing: putting people down.
      A doll, as any other collectible or object, has the exact value that the owner gives it. 500$ worth of recasts is definitely worth more to someone who had to put aside that money for a year to afford them, than a legit doll does to someone who can just give that money away in a couple of months. One recast can be worth to one person more than 5 legits can be to someone else. You don't get it because to you value is measured in the money you paid and the presence or lack of a certoficate of authenticity. To you, "value" is like a medal, a pat on the back that what you own is somehow "better" than what someone else owns. It's the fact that you get the opportunity to feel superior.
      It's not about who poured the resin into the molds. It's about the love and the passion and the creativity that the owner has for the doll. How they painted it; how they chose the wig and the eyes and the clothes. How they pose and photograph them and how they are displayed in their room. How they named the character and who that character is; what traits they have; what the owner wishes they could emulate from the character and which traits come from the owners themselves. This is how you form a bond with the arts. What you're describing is how you form a bond with money and status.
      Value is what the owner gives the doll. Not the opinion of some holier-than-thou stranger on CZcams.
      Didn't wanna get attacked? Then you should've followed your own humble-brag and kept that "opinion" to yourself. People won't just ignore the better-than-you vibe, just because you clothed it in "good intentions". Grow up.
