It’s not Jesus that’s coming. It’s Jesus. Your Hispanic friend’s phone broke and he just wanted to leave a note ahead of time. He’s just running late but will be there in a few minutes
Clearly the case😂❤ thanks for letting us know Jesus
There's always one bot farming comment.
@@LGBTQLegend?
@@kurotsuki7427Look at the like ratio disparity between this comment and every other comment on the video. They weren't even hiding the fact they're bot liking for attention.
@@LGBTQLegendIt seems like a normal comment and ratio to me… I really think you’re just paranoid
I'm suddenly reminded of these sayings: "Congrats" with your baby. Congrats with "your" baby. Congrats with your "baby".
Congrats "with" your baby.
That was from facebook, right?
@@lurch789 I think you mean the entirety of this "subreddit"
"Congrats" with your baby. = They're not congratulating you.
Congrats with "your" baby. = You're baby is adopted.
Congrats with your "baby". = You most likely call you pet or an inanimate object your baby.
Okay this makes a lot more sense when I learned that older generations used quotations in place of italics
No they didn’t. It’s pure ignorance.
I mean…evidently, they did.
My mother is like nearly 80 and has never done that. Nor have many seniors I know. It's definitely not a generation thing, probably just a local thing to wherever you reside.
Yo, shout out to the editor for this one. Masking text of some of these images while keeping the image looking natural had to have taken some time and y'all did a great job of it 👏
They always do an amazing job. I hope they're paid better than Amazon workers.
I bet they are
Noticed it too!
Is it possible that they're using that new AI autofill tool in PhotoShop?
Most art programs have something named "Magic Eraser" or the like. Just use it over a certain spot and (as long as it's clear enough) you can usually get it to basically delete words off of things
About that "no cash back until after 11am" I used to work at a dollar store, and we opened at 8am. Straight up had a guy come in once a week, first thing in the morning, buy maybe 5-10 bucks worth of stuff and try to pay with a 100 expecting us to break it for him and get pissy when we couldn't. It's most likely so they can keep smaller bills in the drawer, since by 11 they would have likely had a little business and be able to cushion the till a little.
Imagine still using bills in 2023 and not virtual currency. (This is a joke about debit cards for anyone who doesn't get it).
@@LGBTQLegend folks with cards did it too by getting cash back on small purchases, to the point we'd have to decline them, otherwise our tills would be empty and hold up the line calling a manager to get us more change -if we had any left in the safe.
@@Luckyfirerabbit I wasn't talking bout cashbacks I was talking about paying with debit cards and avoiding bills. Most people here in Canada where I currently live don't use bills or coins anymore. Mostly some boomers who do. Everyone is paying with debit or credit cards. That was the joke.
I think they're mistaking quotation marks for emphasis asterisks
Or “occasionally” parentheses.
How much you wanna bet most of these are in America? Because the education system there is garbage.
We all know that those who write these signs mistake quotation marks for emphasis a vast majority of the times, but it will never not be funny when others become cautious with them for it.
I really "liked" this video from "Emkay".
I love when I see the subreddit being covered and correctly guess who will be narrating
"Congrats" on your baby
Congrats on "your" baby
Congrats on your "baby"
Congrats “on” your baby
the middle one is most menacing
The last one: the baby is definitely not a shapeshifting monster!
I swear most of these are just people thinking quotation marks are just for emphasis, like italics and bold
I think they were used for emphasis at some point back in the day and some people don't realize you can just bold or underline words now.
I’m guessing “back in the day” probably means “before the printing press,” because I can’t see such a practice surviving all the way up until the internet (unless quotation marks weren’t used for quotations until recently somehow, which begs the question of *what people were actually using for quotations back then*)
been a while since we saw this one. honestly an underrated subreddit
It's 9 am, they just published 40 seconds ago and I'm eating my breakfast while watching emkay, best routine ever
Imagine being young enough to still have breakfast at 9 in the morning. Pepperidge farm remembers.
@@LGBTQLegendi dont think that has anything to do with age
@@LGBTQLegendwhat..?
@@Actuallygoaway Yes.
@@RowletRissoto You have "nothing" to do with "age".
"The Dude" is the only one that has acceptable usage of quotation marks. When that was published there was no way to cheaply bolden words in ads and make them the same size and font as the words around it, so they would often use quotes around emphasized words.
Top tier subreddit imo! Keep it up!
"Top tier" subreddit in my "opinion!" Keep it "up!"
As with all EmKay uploads, I will "thoroughly enjoy" this video. Confused Robin is funni c:
2:42
When Stanley came to a set of two open doors, he entered the one on his left.
1:55 I wouldn't let that clown within 10 miles of the country I live in
We need more of these cuz these are hilarious!
That was a pretty darn impressive Don Knotts impression
10:40 Yeah, I definitely wouldn't trust that tips box. Give your tips to the crew members directly.
Don't worry, the owner doesn't see a single red cent of that tip money. It gets divided out by the employees during each shift change. The owner is really bad at making cohesive signs. Source is I work there.
I love the thumbnail. Reminds me an old school friend. His cookies and the dog biscuits looked identical. And one day his mom gave him the dog biscuits on accident with his lunch. He said they tasted the same. So his mom just bought the dog biscuits for then on since they were cheaper. Mind you this was in the 80's.
I love "watching" CZcams! (I'm just staring into a static screen for over an hour)
This "video" really "made" my "day"
When I saw the "fun" clown I immediately thought of Pennywise.
Or sweet tooth
Ah yes the "never frozen" "Original" burger at 0:18...
I have a strange feeling that there might be a freezer and some theft going on
Weird Al already covered this. "I hope you never use quotation marks for emphasis" - proper use of quotation marks, as I'm quoting Weird Al's parody song _Word Crimes._ Meanwhile, if I were to instead say _I hope you never use "quotation marks" for "emphasis"_ that's an example of exactly what that sentence is trying to get you to not do, and for other examples... just pick literally any post featured in this video.
0:52 God, I WISH my old job implemented this rule. Grocery store cashiers don’t have a lot of money in their drawers at the start of the day, so multiple people asking for cash back in a row would clean our drawers out in less than hour! We’d have to get a loan from front end, or turn our drawer in and have it re-balanced, BOTH which could take a while to getting to.
I think a few of these were them trying to use quotation marks for “emphasis,” kind of like rays from a lightbulb in a cartoon.
I'll have to see if Santa and the Ice Cream Bunny is on this subreddit, because I'm immediately reminded of the opening credits.
*_Starring Jay Clark as Santa Claus, and "Kids" from Ruth Foreman's Pied Piper Playhouse_*
Was not expecting to hear a Don Knotts impression, but glad I did!
It was a really good impression :3
OMG THE "Delicious" DIM SIMS IS MY POST!! OMG AAAA
I've been watching emkay for years and the fact my post is finally in an episode aaaaa I'm so happy!!!
0:36 sounds like a Wikipedia Trivia lol
1:25 that's just where they put the 80s "kids" movies
"Do not drill here"- electrical cables They are the humans and they speak for the cables
The "Yummy" dog biscuits actually makes sense since they probably wouldn't be tasty to humans
1:50 maybe the “chicken” is just shredded beef that was painted like chicken and they ran out of food color.
0:19 with the obviously frozen patties 😂
"Robin" knowing about "Don Knotts" made my "day"
Okay, the cats thing. Cats have weird metabolisms and so many things are not safe for them if they lick it off themselves. Generally dog things are tollerated, but every cat is different.
0:56 this is because registers have to start the day with a certain amount of cash, like $100 or $200. If customers use cash back before any significant cash purchases, then there's little to nothing to use as change when people use cash throughout the day.
Omg I loved the first one it’s finally got a sequel
3:59 I’d hope everyone is genuinely concerned tbh. I’m not a fan but my compassionate nature is making me concerned for her own health, mental health and the same for her family and friends
Timmy Takes A Road Trip With "Officer" Sandusky
6:30 so you are this guy from the Chubbyemu video? o_o
I love emkay so much
I feel like a lot if these were intended to be asterisks
easy explanation: some people just (incorrectly) use quotation marks as emphasis, similar to how we often (somewhat correctly?) use *.
using * does actually have a reason tho, cause in markdown it italicizes your text, which is generally how you emphasize. there's no reason to use quotes for this.
bonus fact: some platforms/websites/apps/whatever also use * for emphasis, but for some reason they'll make the text bold, not italicized (youtube is one of them! wrap a word in two * and it'll come out as bold)
Yes, san dimas is a city in southern California. However, very little of the Bill and Ted movies were actually filmed here.
5:15 that’s Publix bread, that label is on all the fresh bread they sell there but I never noticed it being sus
whenever i see "something something !" i automatically read it as a quote. a line to read; with its own life. like >Buy our bread. "It's the best!"< I can hear how suddenly a chor errupts and say "It's the best!" to me.
@11:22 is completely appropriate use of quotation marks. It's even attributed to the person who said it!
Rowan probably learned to use air quotes from this subreddit.
Sometimes tho the things posted are correct, people just find it funny and wrongly post it in this subreddit lol
Like the "Horrific" at 7:22, shich could be as you said direct quotes from some bystander
And sometimes it is correct to use them to emphasize the item you are talking about, in case it could bear a double sense in a sentence unless emphasized
I FOUND A HAPPY TREE FRIENDS DVD IN THE KIDS SECTION AT GOODWILL
It's just a simple fact that unnecessary quotation marks like this give you a feeling of sarcasm. It's used in that manner in written language quite often.
It's not a home, its a "nursing" home
2:38 Our vet put our rabbit’s name in quotes on the tag they put on his carrier, so maybe like it’s not weird? Idk
0:39 OMFG I’VE SEEN THAT LOGO LIKE 1000 TIMES ITS IN DOWNTOWN HALIFAX
"jesus" is an alternate
Some of these were actually using quotation marks right, but the rest apparently don’t know what asterisks are for😂
No one could have fully finished this video by now.
no way MY POST IS THERE
I can't believe how early I am to an "EmKay" video
Welcome back...
Eyup… here we go again
3:31 Robin, if anything absolutely should be fed with grass, it's beef! Or rather, cows and other ruminants - not feeding them grass will literally kill them.
3:12 Its actual good water. I use it in my coffee maker and for my cats fountain. (Reverse osmosis water.) 28 cent refills on a gallon were I am at.
Let's goo new vid
Considering that dogs happily eat garbage and literal poop, they’ll be inhaling those “yummy” treats either way.
I drank that “milk” over the weekend
very suspicious indeed
Actually in french we use the quotation marks as a substitute for italics in handwriting!
3:30 Cows belong to a class of animals designed to digest things like grass via several stomachs (or is it one multi-chambered stomach? Dunno). So believe it or not, feeding grass specifically to a cow makes sense (grazing).
Other livestock that aren’t ruminants, not so much. Pigs are rampant omnivores, and chickens eat seeds and bugs.
But sheep, cows, horses, and goats can at least partly eat grass and actually make use of it.
This is put peeve of mine like when people use ETA incorrectly.
Robin most relatable narrator
@5:36 clearly they are selling "battle ready armor".
In this context I quote one of my tweets.
As soon as you put a "word" in air quotes, it...
That was the tweet.
"Yummy" 😨😨
Dude I've seen so mamy of these things with random quotation marks. One of them said "Cheap" Cracked Pecans. Another one was "Steak" House. Like, what is it if it's not steak???
Yes, I'll "give" a "like" on this "Video", because I "enjoyeed" it "alot". :)
3:53 to be fair, that's probably indicating they are quoting said fans
Real "hilarious" content 🤣
3:00 they forgot the quotes on 'lucky'
Even for cats 8:29 is because cats lick themselves clean and a dog shampoo can have chemicals you dont want the cat to ingest.
It's like Weird Al sang in his song: don't use quotation for emphasis!
I may be able to quote movies as fast as Jim Carrey, but that is the one part of that song I can't sing properly
Video 136 of asking all narrators, Slazo and Kenny to narrate in one single video
The Don Knotts one is a correct use of quotation marks. It’s a quote.
"Even cats" because any freaking thing will poison a cat. The will fall from buildings and get run by trucks, no problems, but the wrong shampoo will finish them
This "video" was great to "watch"
"I" very much "agree".
2:20 hope it’s not for people who use them for dog bait :(
11:36 - **"BAGEL!"**
WHY DID THE MONOGATARI TOOTHBRUSH GET PUT ON SCREEN WHEN HE WAS TALKING ABOUT EATING SILICA GEL!?!?!?!?!?!
:)
0:56 OH! OH! I know why this is! at some stores, we only have a certain number of bills in the till to start! at mine, we dont have twenties to give when we put our till in, so we have to rely on the customers to come through with twenties and tens. if you ask for cash before we have the cash to give, we have to call the manager, which takes awhile and is generally annoying for everyone involved
why is this, you may ask? it's a failsafe. the less money we have in our till, the less a potential robber gets away with if they decide to rob the store. so, yeah! if you're thinking about robbing a store, don't bother! you'll ruin your life for chump change :D AND, if other stores are like mine, the safe ALSO contains chump change! which is why we can only give so much change back as well!
what does anime girl + toothbrush mean? and how does it relate to silica???
I like how most of these are just people trying to emphasize words forgetting you can always just embolden the word.
2:47 They didn't even put down a phone number wtf
6:32 hey, editors, what did you mean by this?
Dude you need a Hungry Man
Small error here. When there's a title of something (a song, movie, play etc) quotation marks are always used. An example would be "Saw V" or "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" (Yes, the capital letters are used as well.)
(Sorry. I'm a Grammer Nazi from way back.)
I'm a grammar cop too, and these could easily be replaced with italics if the platform allows it. YT does; just surround what you want to italicize with underscores (the "_" symbol)
The thumbnail is the janitor from that kindergarten game
