    Panda's aggressive baserunning in the 4th made all the difference. If he doesn't take third, he doesn't score that inning. I know this game will be remembered for the performance of Madbum and rightly so. But the small things win World Series'. Baserunning, defense and how about Affeldt coming in and shutting the door ahead of Bumgarner.

    • @EricWBurton
      @EricWBurton Před 2 lety

      You're so right! I remember watching the game being impressed when he tagged up on Belt's sac fly to get to third. I mean he just moved faster than I gave him credit for! So glad he did or else he doesn't score the go-ahead run off Morse's base hit the next AB. It was the Panda and Morse show on offense in game 7 - plus Affeldt, Bum, and the great defense behind them to hold it. I felt like the momentum of the entire game shifted when that safe call was overturned to make that amazing double play.

    The Giants dont get the credit they deserve.. they were the best dynasty of the decade YES better than the Warriors YES better than the Patriots. This wasn’t a super team, they had no cheating scandals, they were never expected to win it all. They were just a team that refused to lose.

In baseball no one saw the Giants coming. No one ever predicted the Giants to do good. What makes it more impressive is that they never lost in the ws. They were simply the team that refused to lose come playoff time.

    It’s so hard to believe this was six years ago. I still get super chills watching this game and the series.
    2014 was a rough year for SF sports. The 49ers lost the NFC Championship, Sharks blew a 3-0 lead in the NHL WCC, and the Warriors lost an otherwise stellar 7 game series to the Clippers.
    The Giants looked to follow that same path. They start the season strong as the best team, then they fell apart near the end to lose the NL West to the hated Dodgers. Giants still clinched the Wild Card and went on a fantastic playoff run. One of the best in Giants history.
    I miss the beginning of the 2010’s. The Giants were so much fun to watch at the time.
    They only believed in themselves and that’s all they needed!!
    Thank you Bruce Bochy and Giants for the best years!!!!

      It seems since the giants have fallen, the warriors rose and when the warriors fell, the niners rose. Bay Area sports have had some of the greatest success ever because we had an era where 3 of our teams get at least to the final round of the playoffs. @@MiguelJimenez-uc3yz I mean, not really "touched up," but I think had they went to the big 3 an inning earlier, the Royals would've had a much better chance at a 3-1 lead. You also have to keep in mind that the pressure of being down in a world series game vs being up is huge and the pressure was way more on the Royals pitchers in game 5 in preventing the lead from widening while in game 4, they would've had all the momentum, but Yost trusted in the rookie Finnegan over Herrera. Why the Royals won in 2015 was he didn't put those pitchers in designated roles, he let them pitch when they needed an inning or two of shutout relief and that's why they won in 2015.

      I don't think he would have made it. Of course, anything can happen; Crawford could have made an errant throw. But he's only about 150 feet from home there, and he has a cannon. (I think he clocked 75 mph on the relay throw on the first double play, completely flat-footed.) That throw gets home in about a second and a half. Unless the throw is really bad, Gordon's out by about 10 or 15 feet even if never stops running.
      To be sure, I admit the issue isn't whether Gordon is likely to have scored there, but whether he was more likely to have scored than if he held up and waited for Perez to do something. That's hard to say. Perez was definitely hurting. But if he just hit a solid single, he was capable of jogging to first fast enough to allow the run to score.
