Happens a lot in Baseball. It's a TEAM game. You pay ONE guy a lot of money - then you can't fill the needs of other positions. Look at the Mariners. Won 116 after Randy, Griffey, and AROD left. Bad example, but after Mo Vaughan left the Angels - they won literally the year after. Braves spent millions on their HOF pitching.. but in the Playoffs.. they had no Relief - which cost them a lot of the time.

6:50 - One thing I just realized that most people forget, the Nationals did something EXTREMELY impressive here.
After winning Game 2 of the World Series, the Nationals had won 8 STRAIGHT postseason games in a row.
    Recap of those 8 games:
NLDS Game 4: Nationals 6 and the Dodgers 1.
NLDS Game 5: Nationals 7 and the Dodgers 3 (in 10).
NLCS Game 1: Nationals 2 and the Cards 0.
NLCS Game 2: Nationals 3 and the Cards 1.
NLCS Game 3: Nationals 8 and the Cards 1.
NLCS Game 4: Nationals 7 and the Cards 4.
World Series Game 1: Nationals 5 and the Astros 4.
World Series Game 2: Nationals 12 and the Astros 3.
During those 8 games, the Nationals outscored their opponents 50 to 17.
Over the entire playoffs (including WC), Nationals outscored their opponents 78 to 61 (through 17 games).

Kansas City Royals win their first title in 30 years
Chicago Cubs win their first title in 108 years
Houston Astros win their first title in franchise history in 2017

After that error vs the Brewers it was like they were destined to win it all.

    • @JediMastr80
      @JediMastr80 Před 2 lety +1

I was also pissed as it was a HORRIBLE call. The runner is ALLOWED to run on the left of the baseline. He established his "lane". He knows he can't keep running there (on the left) otherwise he will collide with the 1st baseman, so he moves to the RIGHT side of the bag, perfectly legal.
The pitcher makes a shitty throw to the 1st basement, moving his glove to a shitty spot.
The Umpires showed they WANTED the Astros to win by making this horrible call. You can't just let the defense make a bad throw and give them an automatic out and recall runners to bags which is EXACTLY what they did. The glove being in the way of the runner, that's not on the runner, that's on the 1st baseman. He didn't smack the glove out of his hand, he just ran to 1st.
I actually slowed the video down and he actually was PAST his glove when he touch 1st and stepping on the bag, so there is no possible way they can legally call "interference" here. The Umps 100% screwed up on purpose. It's lucky the Nationals (and Rendon) was able to Home Run.
The Umps are lucky this call didn't change the outcome of the game or the Nationals would have 100% protested this.
What gets me, they say this call was "not reviewable". BULL FUCKING SHIT! This is 100% a reviewable play as it's whether it's a safe/out call, using some possible "interference" rules. It SHOULD have been reviewed, found it was a bad throw by the pitcher, which lead to the 1st baseman not being able to get the ball. No outs, runner on 2nd and 3rd. Play ball.
