  • Tackling the ultimate day hike in Yosemite, from Yosemite valley up the Four Mile Trail to Glacier Point then along the Panorama Trail to Illouette Falls and up to Nevada and Vernell Falls then back to the valley via the JMT.
I hiked this on a warm sunny day in November 2021.

Really enjoyed your video because it was quite detailed and informative. I've done that hike, except I've taken the shuttle up to Glacier Point, then down the way you traveled, except I took the side trip to the top of Nevada Falls, then down to the Valley. It's a killer hike if you're not "seasoned" and I doubt I could do it now, at 72 years old. Get out and do these things while you have your youth and can do them, physically. I'm so glad I hiked when I was younger. Your great video brought it all back to me. Thanks for posting.

I'm glad it took you back, one reason I film these hikes so I can always look back on them as they really are incredible days. Thank you so much for watching :)

Beautiful video! I’m hoping to do this very trail in May next year so a lot of good info, thank you! It’s great to see someone in their element, almost at home in the mountains! I can relate to that.

Hi Rob, I've done all these hikes but never all connected. You're a beast! I really love the views on Four-Mile and like your perspective/appreciation of them, too :-)

I've been on all these trails - I can't imagine doing this hike without a hat, poles, or enough water! Keep in mind that the waterfalls can be much greater or near zero depending on the time of the year. Also, I last hiked Four Mile both ways in early October in great weather and saw several hundred other hikers.

Great job. This hike is on my to-do list. I learned (the hard way) that the water to facilities are turned off on October 15, whether there is snow or not.

Yosemite is one of my all time favorite National parks! Did you know, according to legends of the local Ahwahneechee people, at Yosemite Falls…the base of the pool is haunted by several witches?!!! 🧙‍♀🧙🧙‍♀

Very nice video! I went a few weeks ago and because of the on-going Glacier Point constructions, I did a lot of research to figure out how I can get up to Glacier Point. This was one of the routes I found, but unfortunately, the section from Union Point to Glacier Point was closed due to ice so this wouldn't have worked. I briefly thought about going up the Mist Trail to Panorama to Glacier Point as an out-and-back, but that would have been a tough 16-18ish miles. After seeing your video, I'm somewhat relieved that I made the right decision! Nevertheless, I enjoyed your video as it let me live vicariously through you. It's as if I did go on the hike after all!

It's a great hike but it is a long day! I was so beat after it, but glad I went up regardless and love re-watching it! :)

Hi Rob, I would have preferred to drive to Glacier Point and walk the Panorama and Mist Trail back to the v alley but as Glacier road is closed I am biting the bullet and hike next monday. Wish me luck! One advantage is that it won‘t be crowded, but as a hobby photographer it is a shame I can‘t be there at sunrise or sunset. Great channel, I‘ve already watched most of your Yosemite videos twice. Greetings from Germany.

Thank you Rob for sharing your experience going up the 4-Mile Trail and and coming down the Panoramic Trail. Q? Where did you park your car? Near the 4-Mile Trail??? Or I assumed you had to walk the additional mileage since you walked solo. Q? How long did it take from start to finish?
    Many thanks…happy trails!

I parked at the Village car park - behind the big general store. This meant I had a shorter walk to the 4 mile trailhead and not too far to go to get back from the Mist Trailhead at the end. In 2021 when I did this, there was no shuttle bus, but that's back now, so should be much easier. I did the entire hike in 6.5hrs with lots of stops for snacks and to enjoy the views/film. The 'longest' part for me was the 4 mile, I moved pretty quick from Glaicer point onwards. Good luck with your hike & Happy Trails!! 😁

Been there, done that many, many years ago, before the fires that swept thru the panorama trail.

Fires are ever-changing the Sierra, but fascinating to see over the years. Happy trails :)

Can you share your stats of this hike? I'm thinking of doing it, but the other way around it that makes sense?

I clocked just under 16 miles and it took me 8h 20mins with stops, I found the hardest parts the four mile trail itself and the walk back to the Jeep from Happy Isles. Its a long day and I was lucky that in November it was pretty cool temperatures, but I'd highly recommend doing it!
