Cold Starting the Entire School Bus Fleet...In The Summer
Vložit

- Although it wasn't super cold (probably around 50 or 60 degrees), many of these buses have only been started once within the past three months. With school starting soon, we wanted to make sure all were started or jumped if need be. Some started easier than others. Featured are the following engines: PSI 8.8L Gasoline, Cummins ISB 6.7L, MaxxForce DT, DT466E, T444E, & MaxxForce 7.

There’s some 2023 ICREs on sale over at Creative Bus sales if ya wanna buy it
2:05 the way that thing just went YEEEEET as soon as it started!
Rrrrrr- YEEEET!! *engine idle*
Oh, MAN! That bus start up at 4:23 was it for me. Had a bus that sounded JUST like this in 1987.
I work at an airport and our JET-A fuel truck is a 2004 international and anything below 50 degrees and it’s not plugged in, is hell to start. These buses are a prime example.
For ours it really just depends if the glow plug or block heater systems are working properly, how old the batteries are, the last time it ran, and how cold it is. Some of them need to be plugged in when it’s cold, others don’t.
The startup at 2:05 kinda scared me lol I didn't know it was going to roar like that but it sounds very good I love the t444e
Warms my heart to see t444e busses around. Also didn't realize that the ic busses has a gasoline option!
from what I assume the PSI engines look like a GM 8.1L that's probably bored & stroked for a slightly larger displacement
Yeah, they actually just discontinued it so as of right now the gas engine is no longer an option.
@@0312Productions I work for a furniture moving company and we have trucks that have the PSI 6.0 which is literally just an LQ4 6.0 LS
Sounds like the troublesome DT and 7.3 where down there getting the ole Italian tune up
They aren't necessarily troublesome, they're just old. They could use some new batteries and some could use new glow plug systems.
Crank up them buses i love to see and hear school buses Should have played start me up by the Rolling stones.
I love that maxxforce dt!
The T444e is my favorite, but I'll settle for a Cummins ISB.
Now that is totally awesome video about cold starting on school busses in the summer time keep up the good work my friend
3:44 When you open the door and the bus is in N and the Parking Brake is on
Marvelous job with your content Nashawn.
You should know which would be my most favorites.
I don’t.
@@0312Productions Oh. The T444E's. They're my favorite!
This was perfect to smoke a blunt to
Man those DT466E CE'S Sound rough. Our DT466E CE's are doing ok, one of them died but there mostly still chugging
23:20 that bus has insanely low miles
It has a new cluster. The miles aren’t accurate.
4:10 Don't worry, She's just tired from hibernating
My uncul is a bus mechanic so very fall when school starts back up I get to start the buses
Big
I love these videos and man do those maxxforce’s sound good along with the t444es vt365’s & dt466’s
I don't miss the MaxxForce, especially with those twin EGR coolers and high pressure oil line that go out every Blue moon.
23:31 lol you WILL start 😭
Do some of the gasoline ic buses come equipped with the high idle
No IC has high idle. You have to set the cruise control.
@@0312Productions gotcha
With the DT466s, have you experienced problems with the IDM relay overheating, issues with the IPR and ICP sensors, high- pressure oil rail o-ring not seated correctly, and the injector pucks acting up?
Some of those older buses needed some help lol
A lot of them need new batteries and some of them the glow plug system needs to be replaced.
@@0312Productions some of those buses just need to go lol
@@logandaniels0515 No, why get rid of a perfectly running bus when there’s only something so minor wrong with it? Especially when they’ll outlive the new ones. Hell there’s buses practically coming from the factory with CELs on nowadays. Everything is so cheaply made and electronic.
@@0312Productions exactly now if they were older it would be different
5:40 Well my 2017 IC CE (bus #478) broke so now I have a 2013 IC CE with a 7.6L MaxxForce DT (Bus #439) My driver said it was supposed to go into service but they broke it, so he said 439 is probably our new bus unless if we get another new bus (i don’t know how they broke it)
What is that 8.8l gas engine?
aren't the PSI gasser's basically just a bored out GM 8.1L?
No
Can you get timestamps of the failed starts?
good video btw
Your 2006 or 2017 school bus needs a new battery looks like or gas
2:29
11:02 Failed
11:04 There we go
I think when I stopped I had realized the wait to start light was still on and I was like “oops” lol
3:42 tf was that random sweep for
Was showing there was an error or fault of some sort. Which it was that there wasn’t enough battery power.
@@0312Productions ok
Website forsale?
They are not for sale.
Is your district electrifying your fleet?
God I hope not, not yet anyway.

Blue bird is better.
Childddd…anyway. We don’t tolerate that kind of disrespect around here. Current day bluebirds are awful…especially for the driver.
@@0312Productions I don't mean any disrespect. I'm just saying my opinion.
@@0312Productions Blue Birds are bad nowadays. They were good back in the 90s, and before. But, now, not so much.
Try working on Thomases, especially with DD5s! Don't know where to begin on electrical!😖😣
@@0312Productions I don't know what you want, but I drive a 2019blt 2021mdl Bluebird Vision 78pax on Propane and I love it has everything I want except an armrest, but thats how they were ordered! I much prefer it to the ICs in our fleet.
