even the original singer was fascinated by her voice, if im not mistaken she even said that if ado been around 25 years ago, she would chosen her to perform her debut album called Muzai Moratorium and she also produce a song with ado too called missing! and theres more i believe! :D
If I am not mistaken, Sheena Ringo was so amazed by Ado's version of the song that she said Ado made it her song, which is usually a great honour by any artist to say.

Ado is a GOD tier artist in my opinion
Ado is truly one of the best in the world and this song is clearly an Ado song. Really nobody can copy the way she sings. So many switches, so much emotion, such a high level technical skill.
Shes not even the original sing to the song though this is a cover from Crime and Punishment by Sheena Ringo who she admires

Crime & Punishment is like Ado's The Sound of Silence. What i mean is it took Disturbed releasing The Sound of Silence for people to understand just how talented David Draiman actually is. Ado took that Idea and ramped it up by a factor of ten, I love all of Ado's songs but just the power of her voice in this one is still incredible to me since it's just pure singing.

Ado's vocal give her that range that no main stream media for some time.
From what I understand, Ringo original version was a tribute song to all the artists of the past as she incorporate signature tones - this is why it's sound a bit like a 60's rock with blues -- all veiled as a longing for love, song.
Ado version, instead focus more on the direct longing side while less on pay small tribute to music artists from the past. However, knowing Ado that she actually did 40 big band swing music like she did it "Love, ka?"
Now when Ado did Ringo's cover this a year ago, people wasn't paying attention because of Ado's other independent success. Now that this song will be including in Ado's (2nd?) full album later this year. people start picking it up. This a good thing. I am looking forward to more of her songs and long career..... and more exposure in the west cause this gal is very special.

She's not really doing something with her voice that is a skill that can be learned so there isn't really a name for it. I usually hear it as an attribute of her voice that is rough/raw.
