- O-Cedar Mop Review - the O-Cedar spin mop is the #1 bestselling mop on Amazon. I’ve wanted to try one out for a long time. It has over 48,000 reviews and gets 4.6 out of 5 stars. Diana tried it too and shares what she thinks. So easy to control how wet the mop gets and no need to ever touch the mop head.

It’s super easy to put together and it’s lightweight. The pole is telescoping, so that it can get as long as 51 inches tall. The mop head is made of microfiber so it grips dirt and absorbs water. It’s a triangle shape so it can get in corners more easily. The head is made of plastic and so is the bucket part.
The good part is that microfiber is safe and effective on any hard floor surface. So it works on hardwood, linoleum which is what my floors are made of and tile. The biggest selling point of this mop is this part - the ringer. You can control how wet the mop is with the foot pedal, so again, no bending down
If you have just a bucket of water, you’ll have to wring out the water by hand and it’s tough on your hands. Plus you have to do it every time your mop head gets dirty and you need to rinse it. Not fun.
I bought this on Amazon, it costs about $35. You can buy replacement mop heads and I would recommend that.
You can buy a replacement mop head and they say it takes about 3 months of cleaning. To remove it you turn it upside down and pull it off.
But here’s the part that I didn’t know and didn’t see in any other reviews I saw on CZcams. You can clean with just water, no heat or cleaners needed.
They claim that it removes over 99% of bacteria with water*.
*Removes over 99% of E.coli and Staph. aureus from pre-finished hardwood flooring and ceramic tile using tap water, as tested at an independent accredited lab.
The next part that is a big pro for this spin mop is that you can wring it pretty dry. And that means not a ton of water on the floor and it dries really fast. By the time I mopped my kitchen it was dry. When I use a steam mop we have to be careful not to walk on it for about 30 minutes after I mop.
When you’re mopping you have to be careful that you put the microfiber part onto the floor and not the plastic part of the mop head. That can scratch your floor and I made that mistake.
It got my floors really nice and clean with minimal effort. It did a great job and got my floors clean and no streaking because I used just the right amount of water and no cleaner.
Here’s the things I didn’t like about it. I wish there was a metal version. Also I wish it had a warranty.
I’m worried about the longevity and if the plastic will crack or break.
I wish that it had wheels on the bucket. That would probably add to the cost but then I could easily push it behind me as I mopped and not have to lift it. You can push it along but I’d worry about it scratching the floor.
Overall, I would recommend this product, simply because while it’s not the most sturdy, it’s $30, I expect it to last for years. The fact that I can just throw the microfiber head into the wash and reuse it is great and for the reasons I listed above.
I use this mop for professional cleaning love this mop. Been using this for 6 yrs. I have one in each client's home with 4 mop heads.
Wow that's incredible, thanks for the comment. I've had our cleaners use it instead of our steam mop after reviewing it. Do you use chemical with it or just water?
O Cedar is a reliable brand. I loved my old sponge mop. I’ll give this one a try. Thank you for your review!
Ok I'm so curious what you love about your sponge mop.
Just ordered thank you excited to try it myself
Let us know what you think!!
my mop head has the shorter micro fiber strands my moms are longer on hers which is nice because mine scrubs the floor, but with the longer one it makes it so much better
I just bought this!! I'm hoping it works. I do have an Ocedar Swifter style mop, but it just pushes around the dirt.
I like your review/video....was curious where you store the bucket/mop in between uses...isn't it bulky and take up a lot of space?
It takes up more space than our steam mop but it does a better job. I store it in our basement storage room or the garage. I noticed our floor is warped where someone used too high heat on the steam mop so now it's this mop only.
I love all your videos
😘
How do you detach it to put it in the machine for washing?
Thank you for this video. I had bought it because it is so small and light weight. However it was always sopping wet after I would wring it out. After seeing your video I pumped it ten times and it was almost dry! Maybe I didn't read the instructions. Oops!
That must've been a lot of work to ring it. Microfiber hangs onto water. I learned that if you don't put it in the washing machine it takes forever to dry (and can start to smell). Happy it helped and thanks for your nice comment.
Just went to Target to get mine😊 I’m excited to mop tomorrow!!
If this made you excited to mop then I have done my job. Ha! I love that
How does the mop fit secure in the bottom of the bucket to spin? I had another brand and I just had to hold to handle and the mop would spin. With this one, if I hold the handle it stays in place. I have to loosen my grip and then the mop spins but wobbles. There is nothing for the mop to fit in. I'm wondering why there is a big bump in the wringer part if nothing under the mop locks on top of it.
Yes, you have to hold it loosely and it wobbles a bit, but for the price and how well it's held up so far, I'm ok with that. If I find something better I'll be back to update!
My question is can it handle hot water or mid hot water cause I like deep cleaning my floors since I have 4 kids and love having my floor really clean especially since the fabuloso leaves an awsome sent after I'm done, I prefer hot water because I feel like it better kills bacteria that we bring from walking outside and most importantly covid 19 germs. Other mops break after a month...
Yes it can handle hot water. If you’re really hard on floors you can buy more sturdy brands on Amazon. This one is popular because it’s an attractive price point and design. But a higher end one will last longer.
We do really love the next model up that separates the clean and dirty water. I’m curious if anyone else makes one like it but better quality. Again, this one is good but you may want better…
How well does the stick stay connected to the plastic head. I just bought one today and the mop head plastic adapter pops right off.
The part that screws in? It’s like mine won’t stay…
Do you think it can be used to clean showers and tubs?
Yes, for sure. And baseboards and walls too. Even mirrors.
I agree wheels needed
I bought an o cedar mop and i live it u can actually wash ur walls with it as well
So it’s been a year. How has it held up?
Great! Although it's not entirely fair because now I use a vacuum mop. Diana has the advanced version and used it more and we were both happy but she has a vacuum mop now too. Although a vacuum mop isn't cheap, it's worth it and I would buy another without hesitation, even if I had to save up. I don't have any major mopping jobs now because it's so quick and easy to vacuum mop, I just use it whenever there's a mess or to touch up the main areas, in addition to the weekly whole house mop.
The best there is.
I can’t get it as dry as she says. Not sure what I’m doing wrong. It’s not very sturdy.
That's odd. You're pumping it several times, maybe 10? And hold the pole loosely as it spins? This is the only one I've had so I don't know if it's possible you got one that's not working right.
@@CleanFreakGermaphobe You just answered my question. :) The other mop I had used to fit securely in the basket and your could keep your grip on the mop and it would spin.
I have steamer and I use tap water.
This is more of a commercial for the mop instead of a review. I find that the problem is t usually the mop and mop head, it’s usually the same as any other spin mop, it’s the bucket which breaks and doesn’t spin well anymore usually within months or the bucket leaks.
Still going strong. I mean it's a $35 mop. I've seen better made brands but they're a lot more.
Yeah we've went thru 3 of them. This time we changed the barring inside of it but its still having issues with the pedal going down and not spinning.

The plastic hitting my floor was so irritating
Actually, there is a HUGE problem with this mop and bucket. The problem is that when you spin out your mop, the dirt goes into the clean water. So now you are putting your mop into a bucket of gradually dirty water. This makes no sense. I actually rigged my bucket with a set up so that the dirty water that gets wrung out of the mop goes into a plastic bowl that I have sectioned off under the wringer. So, I think the spin mop is an "almost" helpful concept, but doesn't really work.
That’s what I was thinking too! Why keep putting dirt into the clean water?
Someone suggested they use a separate bucket with clean water.
I hate this mop lol sorry to be a downer but the microfiber material this mop is made of collects all the hairs on my floor even with sweeping before hand. The material also collects all the litter on my floor and when I wash and dry it the hairs just stay imbedded in the mop head 👎
Thanks for sharing your experience. So far I haven't noticed that happening. What type of floor do you have?
@@CleanFreakGermaphobe hard wood floors!
Everything sticks to it even after I wash the head there’s a bunch of hair and fuzzies:(
Shoot. I didn't test it on hardwood only because I don't know anyone who has it so thanks for your feedback.
I run my robo vacuum BEFORE mopping to pick up all the dust and hairs. Because of that, I don't have to MOP every time. I only mop if I see stains on the floor.
