Buying used is the way to go!
I'm happy to say I've got most of these things done already. Customizing the function buttons and seeing what works best was fun. I didn't know about locking the focus point and AE though. Thanks for that! So be very very useful.

One of the best Fuji set up videos I've ever seen Chris. Well done and thanks. The Adobe RGB setting I've used and have had great results from and I've also read conflicting views as to whether sRGB or Adobe RGB is best.... trial and error. Thanks as always mate.

Nice video Chris. This has really helped me enter the correct settings when using a manual lens.👍

Another great video. I thought the shoot without lens was something I needed to change when shooting a manual lens. After watching, I now run "shooting without lens" all the time so I can quickly interchange my wonderful Fujifilm lenses and my old vintage lenses.

  • @boahandarrowsproductions4326

Thank you for such a great video. With the spot metering, does this work when shooting all manual? Got confused a bit as I thought if I'm shooting all manual with a vintage lens the metering dail would not come into play.

If it's lossless compressed RAW, what's the downside?
I've seen a few people say to turn on boost mode, but no-one has given an indication what the upshot of using it is - I'm assuming shorter battery life. It must be more nuanced than that though - just feels like a dial that goes to 11 that no-one understands?

Some usual tips for the newbie Fuji owners Chris. 👍
I’m just surprised you don’t run with compressed raw files? Take up much less space and I defy anyone to tell the difference in quality? 🤔

2:45 shoot without lens isn't required for all 3rd party lenses. Just manual focus lenses. 3rd party AF lenses from companies like Viltrox and TTartisan work fine without changing that setting.

Hi Chris, thank you for your video. Have just brought a used Fuji Xt 1, i am trying to follow you on your video for setting up camera, but I notice i am missing a lot of the menu functions on my camera, for instant, F5 I only have listed IS mode, wireless communication, and aperture settings. The only one I can access is the wireless communication. my question is , is camera working correctly. I would really appreciate your input

I came to Fuji from Nikon. I wish I had started with Fuji -it's so much more intuitive and the dials are what I want.
I have a lot of Nikon glass ; the primes are great on Fuji ,but I wonder if the Fringer Nikon to X adapter would help getting all the features out of my Nikon and Sigma zooms ? Do you have any experience with Fringer's adapter?

Is the XT 1 a great camera for "point and shoot"? I love the film simulations and new to photography. Eventually I want to learn more with settings etc. Definitely going to keep this video as a guide...thank you 😊

6:40 a bit more explanation on pros and cons of mechanical vs electronic shutter would be helpful, and how the '+' option works with both.

I just commented on another quick guide on how you cannot find a full in depth set up guide for Fuji cameras. Just came over from Sony and you could find hour long tutorials from turning it on etc to going through the entire menu set up. It’s quite disheartening!

Many folks put the noise reduction to the lowest value, as even the zero setting imparts some noise reduction. If you’re shooting RAW you can always change it.

yes, some film simulations call for -4, I basically follow given film simulations, I don’t monkey around with this setting myself

If your fuji camera has the lossless compressed option for raw I'd pick it. There is no difference in image quality at all (literally 0) and the files are about half the size. The compression algorithms used for those images return the exact lame data as before, similar to text compression. If every 20th letter came out wrong texts would be unreadable.
