  • In this video, I demonstrate how to replace the windscreen on an Audi Q5. The new windscreen is an OEM dealer part that was necessary due to a stone chip in the driver's field of vision. I cover the entire process, from removing the wiper arms to preparing the glass and bodywork for bonding and fitting. Hopefully, you can learn something useful from this tutorial.

Again excellent work again buddy. Being an Audi owner with a windscreen that looks like it might need replacing due to an annoying chip in my line of sight. I've been looking into the official process of how it gets done. Apparently this involves a 2-component adhesive being used as the Audi tech literature says only that should be used for windscreens. It also mentions that once the old adhesive is cut on the body it shouldn't be cleaned or have primer applied (primer on glass only 10 mins flash off time) and the windscreen fitted within 10 minutes. If not fitted within 10 mins primer then has to go on the old sealant on the body like you've done. Same as the wire cutting method you've used.
I only mention all this because I'm maybe looking at going down the main dealer route instead of my insurance who use third party companies and glass. But I've come to realize that main dealers just get a third party in like yourself to do the windscreen replacements. Which you do a great job off. It's just that you'd think the main dealer would ensure the job be completed as per the manufacturer official repairs instructions as they're effectively responsible for selling a car that has to be up to manufacturers standards.

Sounds like outdated literature, no windscreen companies use 2 part adhesive anymore, moved on to single part polyurethane about 18 years ago. all windscreen companies and fitters are trained to follow proper fitting instructions. It's up to each individual fitter to follow these procedures like in any trade, put your trust in the process, and you will be fine.

I wish you worked in South East London. When you put the plastic scuttle/ wiper trim back on, do you use silicon or does it just clip on? Also, do the side trims just clip in place or do they need adhesive/sealant? Thanks in advance.

Hi, The scuttle panel is pushed into a plastic trim attached to the bottom of the windscreen and the side trims are pushed into a metal trim attached to the bodywork. no adhesive required, the only adhesive used is the polyurethane to bond the glass to pinchweld.
      Hope this helps.

Hi bud hope all is well👍, I commented on your video couple months ago about me starting at auto windscreens. Just a quick one wire cut out tool is this? Auto windscreens provide the Panther cut out tool but it’s quite shocking really so I was going to opt in to buying one myself. I’ve heard and seen lots of great things about Ezi wire as you would know but there next to impossible to get hold of. 😂
    Thanks pal

Hi, I use the "Cut It MONO" from Global products and tools ltd. yeah the EZI Wire is an Autoglass tool not for resale.
